I Just Wanted to Be a Galactic Hunter—Why Am I on the Wanted List?

After hearing the latest news Jessistan had delivered, Loren’s brow furrowed in a rare show of concern.

He wasn’t surprised that the ambitious figures within the Federation would join the Resistance.

What caught him off guard was that the Chromatic Dragons from outside the Federation, along with extremist organizations like the Fire Thief Cult, had also quietly slipped into the Resistance’s ranks.

His instincts told him this was not a good thing...

The Chromatic Dragons were those dragon species across the vast Star Realm named after “colors.”

The Red Dragons, physically powerful, capable of unleashing mighty flames, and fond of living in volcanic magma.

The Blue Dragons, masters of lightning magic, typically dwelling in deserts.

The Green Dragons, infamous for their “love of schemes” and preferring the forests.

The Black Dragons, experts in acidic breath, favoring swamps as their homes.

And the White Dragons, dubbed the “Shame of the Dragons,” spending their years on icy plains. These five dragon types were the more common among the Chromatic Dragons, collectively referred to by the Star Realm’s races as the “Five Chromatic Dragons.”

The Five Chromatic Dragons leaned toward evil and were generally brutal, faithless beings.

In contrast, the Metallic Dragons, who stood opposite the Chromatic Dragons, seemed far more normal.

The common Metallic Dragons of the Star Realm included Gold Dragons, Silver Dragons, Brass Dragons, Copper Dragons, and Bronze Dragons.

These more common Metallic Dragons generally leaned toward goodness.

Most of them yearned for freedom, and the free-spirited Metallic Dragons were also largely faithless.

A small number of Metallic Dragons that grew close to humans would form partnership contracts with powerful human individuals.

Loren had picked up this knowledge during his intense browsing sessions on the Interstellar Hunter Forum.

As for the Firebrand Faction of the Fire Thief Cult, Loren hadn’t come across that on the Interstellar Hunter Forum...

So, Loren directly looked at the silver dragon lady across from him, who seemed to have lived a very long time, and asked bluntly:

“What’s the deal with the Firebrand Faction of the Fire Thief Cult?”

Hearing this, Jessistan tilted her head and thought for a moment.

“Hmm... Let me think about how to describe it to you...”

It was a very complicated issue, an ancient historical leftover problem in the Star Realm.

After organizing her words, Jessistan tilted her head again and whispered to Loren with an endearing air:

“Just like the Moderates and Radicals within your Nature Sect, the Fire Thief Cult is divided into the Firebrand Faction and the Torchbearer Faction.”

“You can simply understand it this way: the Firebrand Faction is relatively moderate. They only unite some human forces to overthrow those Gods.”

“As for the Torchbearer Faction, they’re quite extreme. They will unite every force, even those from the Abyss, to launch Ragnarok.”

“The ones who opened the ‘Digital Currency Bank’ in the underground black market within Federation territory a few months ago were the Torchbearer Faction of the Fire Thief Cult, teaming up with the devils from the Abyss.”

After listening to Jessistan’s explanation, Loren nodded slightly. He roughly understood the organizational structure of the Fire Thief Cult.

Is that so? Interesting.

The Radicals run a bank, the Moderates join the Resistance...

But...

“Why are you suddenly whispering?” Loren asked, a bit puzzled.

“Afraid that the two from your sect might secretly hear me gossiping about Them...” Jessistan’s tone was somewhat weak.

Hearing the silver dragon lady’s explanation, Loren shot her a look of extreme disdain.

After offending so many Gods, did she have to be this cautious even when speaking?

Catching Loren’s gaze, Miss Silver Dragon instantly bristled.

“What’s that look supposed to mean?!”

“You’re discriminating against dragons!”

“Dragons were young once too, okay?! Back then, I just didn’t know any better!”

“And! What’s wrong with a dragon liking shiny things?”

“Besides, They left those things just lying around so casually in the churches!”

“Don’t They share any blame?”

“Isn’t that just tempting a dragon?”

...

After a string of feeble excuses, Miss Silver Dragon finally delivered her concluding remarks with great pain:

“Anyway, I’m really regretting it now!!”

“Whenever I sleep in my lair, I don’t dare to go into deep sleep!”

“For a dragon, this is way too painful!!”

Listening to her weak, frustrated justifications and her utterly unconvincing words of regret, Loren chose to smile and stay silent.

This very useful driver shouldn’t be provoked...

“Alright, I understand.”

“Yeah, it’s not entirely your fault.” Loren said in a tone that was quite sincere.

Then, he couldn’t help but chuckle and skillfully shifted the topic.

“So, Miss Jessistan, who is essentially innocent.”

“May I ask, have your subordinates told you about the overall situation in the Federation right now?”

Hearing Loren’s rather perfunctory “sincere” words, Jessistan felt her dragon life had become even more difficult...

You bastard human, don’t you have any sympathy?!

Aren’t we friends?! Boohoo!

And when will you become a Major Figure in the Star Realm?!

I just want to get a good night’s sleep!!

Is that wrong?!

Hmph, no!

It’s not this dragon’s fault!

Hmph!!

Stupid human, since you’re this good-looking, I forgive you again!!

After a bout of internal struggle, having silently consoled herself, Miss Silver Dragon began to relay the news her subordinate followers had reported to her:

“Uh... Let me think...”

“The overall situation in the Federation is a bit uncanny right now...”

“Nearly a third of the star domains have been occupied by the Resistance.”

“And as time goes on, the number of star domains taken by the Resistance keeps increasing, just like this Dusk Star Domain we’re in...”

Hearing this, Loren instinctively raised his hand to stroke his chin.

That was his habit when deep in thought.

After a moment, he continued asking:

“After the large-scale rebellion broke out, what was the Federation’s reaction?”

“That’s what I find uncanny too. The Federation’s top brass seem to be scheming something. They only sent over a dozen elite legions from the military department to garrison several star domains near the Central Star Domain, then did nothing more...”

“The strangest part is the Security Bureau and the Energy Department. These two powerful departments have also quietly fallen into some kind of silence.”

“Right now, no one knows what the higher-ups in the Energy Department and Security Department are up to. It’s as if their movements have been deliberately concealed...”

“Meanwhile, the mid- and low-level Agents of the Security Bureau, as well as the mid- and low-level personnel of the Energy Department, are fully armed and standing by, quietly awaiting orders from the Central Star Domain.”

“That’s the situation in the star domains still under Federation control.”

“As for the star domains occupied by the Resistance, a small portion of the Energy Department’s personnel chose to surrender and join the Resistance. The majority of the remaining staff have formed stubborn resistance on the ground.”

“Regarding the Security Department’s Agents, aside from a small number who joined the Resistance, the rest have all vanished from the public eye, opting to lie low in the Resistance-occupied star domains and carry out covert assassination activities.”

After hearing about the Federation’s uncanny reaction, Loren’s brow gently furrowed.

It felt like there was a huge conspiracy lurking beneath all this...

“What about the Federation’s external enemies? Do you know?” Loren’s voice sounded again.
