I Was Mistaken for a Saint in a Dark Fantasy

Two months had passed since Morphine was introduced to the world.

The world was still in an uproar.

The Evaluation of Morphine was divided into two extremes.

Someone considered it the Mercy of the Saint.

Someone considered it the Saint’s first mistake.

Either way, they did not doubt the Saint’s Goodwill.

However, the world was not simple enough to justify all the Results just because the Intention was good.

Thus, evaluations and controversies heated up the world noisily day after day.

And there was a place aloof from such noise of The secular world. It was none other than the Essenwald Academy.

To that educational Institution nurturing future talents, Morphine was not that important.

If Morphine had spread among the students, they might have taken an Interest.

But there was no way such a problem would occur in the Academy where the Saint mainly operated.

Ultimately, Essenwald Academy silently ran its academic Schedule while taking a step back from the outside world.

The Hero Department took their practical-focused Midterm Exam as always.

Thanks to the blood-splattering spars happening at the rate of once every One month, Meyer Infirmary was bustling.

The Department of Healing Arts also took their second Midterm Exam.

Taking the Failure of adjusting the difficulty of the first Midterm Exam as a lesson, this Exam came out a bit easier.

”Saintess. I heard you scored over 90 on this Midterm Exam as well.”

”Congratulations, Saintess.”

The Top of the Class for the First year was Ayla once again.

She was proud of her score.

With this score, she wouldn’t smear her Teacher’s Fame.

However, there was one regrettable point.

”Still, it’s a shame that I couldn’t solve the last Question because it was a bit too difficult.”

Perhaps it was the Fault of the Professor of the Department of Healing Arts having high expectations for Ayla.

They ended up with a Failure in adjusting the difficulty of the last Question.

Unfortunately, she failed to meet those expectations.

No matter how skilled she was, solving a Question handled only in Graduate School was too much.

Of course, Ayla didn’t think Yulian would be disappointed by such a thing.

It was just regrettable out of her personal Greed.

”I think I could have solved it if I just had a little more Time. It’s really a shame.”

”Ah, so it wasn’t that you didn’t know it......”

Ayla’s Peers let out dry laughs.

The thought that one shouldn’t compete with Ayla was a bonus.

”By the way, Saintess. Are you heading straight to the Infirmary?”

The Saint Lauren carefully asked.

”I suppose I must. I haven’t been able to go for One month because of studying for the Exam.”

”Hmm...... I think it would be better to take a break.”

”This is me taking a break. You are going too, aren’t you, Saint.”

”Ugh. I suppose I must.”

Lauren let out a groaning sound.

He wanted to become an outstanding Healer who received Yulian’s Acknowledgement,

but at the same time, right after the Exam, his desire to rest was also immense.

However, since his Rival (only Lauren thought so) made a Declaration not to rest, taking a break was not among his Options.

Thus, right after the Exam period ended.

The Department of Healing Arts students, including Ayla and Lauren, headed to the Infirmary.

”It’s been One month.”

She muttered at the Entrance of the Infirmary.

The smell and noise of the Infirmary upon returning after One month were exactly the same.

Numerous Hero Department students waiting for treatment right after spars.

Patients flocking from all over the world to be treated for Demon Disease.

Even the dying Black Sorcerers that the Valkyries had Supplied(?).

The Infirmary scenery they created was exactly as Ayla remembered.

However, it was only the outward appearance that looked the same.

The contents had definitely changed.

”Administering 2 milligrams of pain relief here.”

”Over here too. They say the Pain is severe.”

”Leave a Record, ten minutes until the next administration.”

A Healer holding a Glass Vial moved busily between the Beds.

The Glass Vial contained a transparent liquid.

Ayla knew the identity of that liquid.

Morphine.

Even just One month ago, it was a Medication that wasn’t used this actively.

At that time, Healers were cautious about using Morphine.

Because they didn’t know it well, there was a possibility of making a mistake.

However, now, two months after Morphine was disclosed to the world.

Healers were using it as if it were natural, like a Bandage or Antiseptic.

”......”

Without realizing it, Ayla stared intently at that Glass Vial.

Ayla’s Evaluation of Morphine was complicated.

About two months ago.

The Time when her Dwarf Peer clutched his stomach due to Acute Pancreatitis.

Yulian treated that Peer by prescribing this medication.

And that Peer took this Midterm Exam without any problems.

With an appearance so healthy it overshadowed the Addiction of Morphine that The public warned about.

Even so, Ayla could not lower her guard against Morphine.

’Mother told me that Morphine is a truly terrifying medication.’

Because there was something she had heard from her Mother, who was a Healing Priest.

Her Mother recently had the Opportunity by chance to see the Opium and Drug addicts quarantined in the Monastery.

There, Ayla’s Mother witnessed a terrible sight.

Suffering from hallucinations and howling like beasts, that place was to the point where one might wonder if it dared to occupy a corner of hell.

And Ayla, who heard this, naturally feared Morphine.

’I understand why Teacher was keeping Morphine a secret when treating that friend.’

Yulian knew too.

Just how dangerous a Double-edged Sword this medication was.

Even so, Yulian introduced this medication to the world.

That was why Ayla was curious.

If this medication was truly worth it.

”......Teacher.”

Ayla, who went to find Yulian as he was preparing for Ward Rounds, carefully confessed the curiosity lingering in her mind.

”By any chance, was this medication, Morphine, absolutely necessary? Of course, I consider that you, Teacher, must have a reason for everything, but I’m just a bit Worried.”

Ayla’s highly intimidated Question.

Rather than a Question, it was closer to a confession meant to erase her Anxiety.

Depending on the person, it was a Question that could cause offense.

Saying, how dare a Disciple question their Teacher’s decision.

But Yulian was not such a person.

Since Ayla knew that well, she asked directly.

”That is a good Question, Ayla.”

And it was the same this Time.

Yulian, receiving her Worry-mixed gaze.

Far from scolding her, he rather gave a pleased smile.

”It is a reasonable and good Worry. That is exactly the Stance one must not forget when handling Morphine.”

”Yes......?”

”I too once had the exact same Worry as you, Student Ayla.”

Yulian briefly recalled his Medical Student days.

Back then, having learned about narcotic painkillers through Books, he could not help but be flustered at the Scene of Practical Training.

Wondering if it was right for narcotic painkillers to be used so commonly.

”If one doesn’t know it properly, it’s natural for a person to fear it.”

However, not anymore.

It didn’t mean Morphine wasn’t dangerous.

He merely came to know how to properly utilize it.

’In the first place, the essence of Medicine is Tightrope Walking.’

Come to think of it, it was ambiguous to say Morphine was more dangerous compared to Surgery.

Making a person half-dead and popping their head Lid or opening their chest is Surgery.

It was laughable to be particularly afraid of only narcotic painkillers.

”An Expert is an Expert because they endure even such risks and draw out the maximum advantages from them. Therefore, Student Ayla’s Worry is valid. In that sense......”

Yulian briefly looked down at the Chart.

He soon nodded and said.

”I will show you directly during Ward Rounds. Why this medication is absolutely necessary.”

Yulian grabbed his Chart Board and gestured towards Ayla with his head.

*

Ward Rounds began.

A large group of Apprentice Healers followed behind Yulian.

It looked just like Resident Doctors following a Professor around.

There was an implicit Rule to this Procession.

The point was that the higher one’s Skill, the closer their Location to Yulian as they followed.

It was like a Tradition born from the reason that the closer they were during Ward Rounds, the more they could learn the precious knowledge he carelessly dropped.

However, there were those who were not bound by that implicit Tradition.

They were none other than The Saintess of the Lamp Ayla, and The Saint of Radiance Lauren.

Despite their Student Social status, they were able to stick closer to Yulian than the Apprentice Healers in Training.

There was no need to speak of the reason.

Because their Official title was the reason itself.

”......”

In the middle of that Procession.

Ayla and Lauren followed behind Yulian, thoroughly tense.

Was Morphine really a necessary medication?

It was the Fault of such Worries filling both of their minds.

The place Yulian took them to first was the Intensive Care Unit.

The first Patient was a Heart Surgery Patient who was brought in not long ago.

”Did you sleep well, Mr. Lochner?”

”Are you here, Lord Saint.”

The middle-aged man wearing Eyeglasses hurriedly closed his Book.

An Apprentice Healer quickly explained the Patient’s background.

”67-year-old male Patient. Presented with Acute Myocardial Infarction. He took Nitroglycerin before visiting and in the Emergency room, but there was no Improvement, and upon arrival, he still complained of severe chest Pain while the infarction was in Progress. Under the suspicion of left ventricular infarction, Emergency surgery was performed, and yesterday CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting) was performed.”

”How is it now? Does your chest not hurt?”

”Oh my. I am perfectly fine, Lord Saint.”

”Your breathing and heart rate are stable too.”

Yulian, who finished the conversation with the Patient.

After asking for the Patient’s understanding, he explained the Patient to Ayla.

”Ayla, if it were in the past, what Painkiller do you think would have been used for this person’s Surgery?”

”Opium Tincture would have been used.”

Opium Tincture.

It was a medication that mixed Opium and various Medicinal Herbs with analgesic effects.

The pain-relieving Effect was about medium.

Better than nothing, but not without pain entirely either.

”Then Ayla, you know well how dangerous Opium Tincture is, right?”

Ayla nodded.

Opium Tincture was a very difficult medication to handle.

To the point where even Specialized Anesthesia Healers would fail to control the Dosage about once every One month.

The reason was due to the fundamental Limit of Opium Tincture.

This medication mixed with Opium Poppy Pod and Medicinal Herbs had many impurities and inconsistent pain-relieving Effects.

So the Result was always extreme.

Either the Pain couldn’t be controlled and shock came, or conversely, the Dosage was excessive and the heart just stopped.

The Specialized Anesthesia Healer had to do Tightrope Walking precariously at this boundary.

”For this Patient, if the Surgery had been done with Opium Tincture, the Surgery would have been difficult. We could have ended up with a Failure if we weren’t careful.”

This problem was especially prominent in Patients with Heart Disease.

Because a single slip-up with Opium Tincture often caused the heart to stop.

However, not anymore.

”Of course it is still dangerous now, but Morphine is relatively favorable for Heart Surgery. Cardiac arrest Accidents caused by Painkiller Dosage Failure have drastically decreased.”

The danger of Heart Surgery itself still remained.

Even so, since the introduction of Morphine, the Success rate of Cardiopulmonary Surgery showed noticeable Improvement.

”Morphine has high Purity, making Dosage control easy, and it is relatively much safer as it doesn’t negatively impact cardiopulmonary functions.”

Yulian, having finished the explanation.

Ayla and Lauren nodded in Admiration.

Thinking that indeed, contrary to The public’s Evaluation, there was nothing he made without a reason.

However, Yulian’s explanation did not end there.

”Then shall we go meet the next Patient?”

Next was a Pediatric patient.

Originally, Healers naturally had their departments divided by Sect.

Specialized Heart Healer, Specialized Respiratory Healer, Specialized Limbs Amputation(?) Healer.

Like this.

However, in this Infirmary, Yulian was an Exception.

He made a Declaration that he would transcend all Sects and pass down knowledge.

This was also a Declaration that he would see Patients from all departments himself.

Thanks to that, there were also those who harbored Awe for Yulian in a different sense.

Anyway, it was not that strange for him to see a Heart Patient and a Pediatric patient at the same time.

The two Apprentice Healers in charge each submitted their Report.

”14-year-old female Patient, a Case who presented with Congenital Right Hand Polydactyly. There were 6 digits in her Right Hand Region since birth, but in the past, due to the high risk of pediatric General anesthesia and Worry over damaging the bone’s growth plate, Surgery had been withheld.”

”Judging that she has reached a mature age where her skeletal growth is sufficiently complete, we performed an Amputation of Extra Digits and Soft tissue Reconstructive surgery yesterday Morning.”

If using a Metaphor of Modern times, they were Apprentice Healers corresponding to Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery, respectively.

Since it was a complex Patient, it was also a Patient coordinated by two departments.

”Currently, 24 hours after the Surgery, no signs of Bleeding or Infection are observed at the amputation site, and the Medical finding of sensory and motor Nerve preservation in the remaining 5 digits, along with the Capillary Refill Time, are all Normal and in good condition.”

”Currently, for post-Surgery Pain control, we are intravenously administering Morphine within the limited Dosage. The Patient’s complaint of Pain is stable at 2 out of 10 or less. Unless an unusual Medical finding occurs, we are considering Discharge from hospital with light Rehabilitation after the Dressing replacement in two days.”

”It was a perfect Report from both of you.”

At Yulian’s praise, the two Apprentice Healers secretly high-fived.

Since it was a Patient they put a lot of Effort into, it was the Fault of the joy of their hard work receiving Acknowledgement being great.

Yulian explained about this Patient to Ayla and Lauren as well.

”Pediatric patients require Medication to be very delicately increased or decreased, unlike adults. So as you all know, in the past, I also avoided Pediatric patient Surgery as much as possible.”

The downside of Opium Tincture was prominent in Pediatric patients.

Its instability was to the point of making Pediatric patient Surgery nearly impossible.

So pediatric surgeries of the past were heavily tied to Gambling.

It meant it was a Surgery only done when there was no choice but death without it.

But not anymore.

”Now we can safely consider Surgery.”

Morphine also demonstrated its Effect in Pediatric patient Surgery.

Without having to make the Resolve for death as they did when using Opium Tincture.

— ”Yay!”

— ”How about eating pizza with Nico as promised, Healer?”

— ”Right. Right...... I’ll give you money at Lunch, so go buy it.”

The Apprentice Healers who had been in charge of the Six-fingered Patient named Nico were speaking to another Healer from a distance.

From what they heard, it seemed they promised to eat pizza after the Pediatric patient’s Surgery ended in Success.

It was due to the Pediatric patient’s Wish to pick up and eat pizza with five fingers.

Ayla and Lauren silently watched the purely rejoicing Healers and Patient.

The Pediatric patient Nico was receiving Morphine administration even now.

It was to lessen the pain of having a finger amputated.

Thanks to that, he appeared genuinely happy about the fact that he was eating pizza.

”......It’s more amazing than I thought.”

It was a scenery hard to even imagine when they were using Opium Tincture.

Because Patients who finished Surgery struggled with Pain.

Because it was dangerous, it had to be used carefully, and so the amount was always woefully insufficient.

But this Pediatric patient was different.

To think he was waiting for pizza not long after the Surgery ended.

Morphine not only made it possible to perform Surgery on those who couldn’t receive Surgery,

but it also made it possible for Patients to recover immediately after Surgery.

”Then next......”

It was the moment Yulian was about to show another Patient.

To him who was trying to continue the Ward Rounds, a Wife carefully approached.

”Umm, Lord Saint......”

”Yes. What is the matter.”

”Well, they say my Husband...... needs Surgery on his Esophagus.”

The Wife continued with an anxious face.

”I know there is a Healer in charge separately...... but I heard that Surgery frequently has Accidents. So, by any chance...... I wondered if you, Lord Saint, could do it directly......”

It was a Guardian asking for none other than Yulian to perform the treatment.

It wasn’t a very desirable Stance.

Since it meant she couldn’t trust the Healer in charge.

But Ayla could understand that Wife’s feelings.

Esophageal Surgery was notoriously tricky.

Accidents frequently occurred, too.

That was why Yulian didn’t scold the Guardian.

Instead, he calmed her down and reasoned with her gently.

”I understand your feelings, but there is no need to do that. Do you know why Esophageal Surgery used to be difficult?”

He didn’t Point out the Wife’s Stance.

Instead, he merely explained the logic calmly so she could understand.

”In the past, the reason Accidents were frequent in Esophageal or Large Intestine Surgery was heavily due to the absence of a Painkiller, not a lack of the Healer’s Skill.”

”A Painkiller?”

”Yes.”

The Sleeping Pill used previously only put the Patient to sleep.

It didn’t eliminate the Pain reaction felt by the internal organs.

Because of that, the Patient’s internal organs naturally reacted to the Scalpel.

When the knife was brought near, the internal organs would squirm this way and that.

”Even if the Patient was asleep, when the knife touched them, the organs reacted by squirming severely like a snake. That’s why Accidents where the Surgery missed the mark were frequent. The Esophagus, especially, is an organ with severe such Movement.”

The Wife’s complexion turned to a Pallor.

Because her family member would be receiving such a dangerous Surgery.

But Yulian spoke to reassure the Wife.

”But now that a new medication has been created, the Esophagus doesn’t move that severely. The Healer in charge of this Surgery also possesses excellent Skill in Esophageal Surgery comparable to mine, so you can trust and leave it to them.”

Yulian did not simply tell her to trust them.

Instead, he explained sufficient Evidence she could believe.

Only then did the Guardian nod in relief.

”Then as you say, Lord Saint, I will trust them.”

Lauren, who watched that scene, recalled the time Yulian performed Surgery on a Nanny in the past.

Come to think of it, the Nanny’s Stomach squirmed severely back then too.

Yulian had performed Surgery on that Stomach as if it were nothing.

But what if the person Leading Surgery at that time had been another Healer?

’......If it were me, it moved severely enough that my knife would have missed.’

At that time, since it was Yulian who operated on moving hearts and Lungs, the Surgery proceeded smoothly.

But that was not something that could be applied to other Healers.

In other words, it was only hidden by Yulian’s overwhelming Skill.

Surgeries always entailed the risk of an Accident where the knife missed.

Morphine had drastically reduced such risks.

By remarkably reducing the degree to which internal organs reacted to Pain,

it also reduced the Accidents caused by internal organs squirming.

Even after that, the Ward Rounds continued to broaden Ayla and Lauren’s Field of view.

They exchanged greetings on the walking path with a Mother in Childbirth who had a Cesarean Section.

If it were the past, she would have been a Patient groaning while lying in Bed for a few months.

But now, thanks to Morphine, she could take A walk down the hallway lightly in just a week.

Morphine was also effective for Myocardial Infarction Patients.

Morphine lessened the Burden on the heart, buying Time.

There was a Hero Department Student with a dislocated finger.

It was a Patient whose finger became a complete mess after swinging his fist toward a red-haired girl’s headbutt during a spar.

That Patient was also able to align his finger without pain thanks to Morphine.

Especially for Dislocation Patients, Morphine was a godsend Medication.

”One, two!”

”Ugh!”

If it were the past, the Patient’s scream would have echoed with the command of ”One, two, three!”

Usually, that scream was enough to make one mistake the Emergency Ward for a torture chamber.

But now, the screams were no longer at that level.

”You said you’d snap it back on three! Did you trick me?”

”......”

”Healer?!”

At the very least, it became a level that ended with shedding tears and snot after snapping it back.

Yulian’s Outpatient Clinic was the Highlight.

”Uuurgh......”

A middle-aged man entered the Consultation Room clutching his side while letting out a beast-like groan.

The red blisters that popped out like a band along his side were characteristic.

”It’s Shingles.”

Shingles.

A Disease where Germs flow along the Nerve. (Strictly speaking, Yulian said it wasn’t Germs, though.)

This disease that directly gnaws at the Nerve often presented the most severe pain a human could experience.

According to the Patients’ expression, it felt like searing under the skin with a soldering iron 24 hours a day.

It was also the most painful disease among the diseases Ayla knew.

Yulian administered Morphine to that Patient.

Then,

”Haa......”

A moment later, the man’s contorted face slowly smoothed out.

”......I-I feel like I can live......”

The man who couldn’t even groan properly just a moment ago let out a comfortable breath for the first time.

Watching that scene, Ayla felt her chest inadvertently warm with emotion.

There was no place where Morphine wasn’t used.

It was to the point where the reason Yulian created this was understandable.

Only then was Ayla relieved.

Because she was convinced that Yulian had definitely not made a mistake.

However, as the Ward Rounds continued, there was someone who became anxious instead.

It was Lauren.

In a corner of his mind, another Worry bloomed.

’Isn’t it bearable enough around this level?’

Lauren did not know well how much Pain the Patient was in.

Because there were almost no cases where pain lasted more than 5 minutes in front of him.

Thus, he lacked an understanding of pain.

’I understand up to Burns...... but is there a reason to use Morphine even for a Dislocation?’

In Lauren’s eyes, Yulian was prescribing Morphine too unhesitatingly.

As if he were handling an Antibiotic.

From the Stance of knowing the Side Effect, it made him endlessly anxious.

So he carefully asked a Question.

”The Black Saint.”

”Yes?”

”Well...... I am Worried that you are using Morphine too commonly. Since they will be treated anyway if you cast Heal, wouldn’t it be fine to bear it a little?”

Yulian stopped his steps.

And looking back at Lauren, he spoke in a low voice.

”Lord Lauren. Humans, you see, are Living organisms that cannot endure pain far beyond what you imagine.”

”......”

”Even if it isn’t extreme pain to the point of screaming, it is so. The moment even the pain subtly gnawing at the bone goes past Fifteen Days, a human will lose their reason and beg to be killed instead.”

”But, looking at those terrible addicts in the Monastery...... wouldn’t such indiscriminate use be too dangerous?”

At Lauren’s rebuttal, Yulian firmly shook his head.

”This is not indiscriminate use. You are having a Misunderstanding, Lord Lauren. Morphine is not some cursed substance that reduces a human to a beast just from being administered once.”

Yulian corrected Lauren’s delusion.

”Of course, what a person who touched drugs in pursuit of Pleasure remembers is heaven.

But what a person who received the drug in pain remembers is not heaven. It is merely that the pain that felt like death temporarily stopped, so they briefly return to Daily life.”

Morphine as a Drug is a heinous substance.

To the extent that it makes humans consider Reality a hell because they cannot forget that Ecstasy.

But Morphine as a Painkiller is different.

The Sense of relief of merely having returned to a ’normal state’ where they can eat and breathe.

What the Patient remembers is only that Sense of relief.

In other words, they merely slipped out of hell for a moment.

There was no reason to wish for a heaven they had never even experienced.

”The reason one gets Addicted to Drugs is because of the drop in elevation. For those who remember heaven, their Daily life feels like hell in comparison. But those who slipped out of hell for a moment are merely thankful for this Reality; they do not crave heaven.”

Lauren could not help but listen blankly to Yulian’s explanation.

Because he felt like he understood the meaning of those Words.

Lauren also found his Academy life somewhat Uncomfortable.

Because from a life of being treated well in the Holy City, it had become a life pinched for his Allowance.

Lauren wasn’t in pain.

But among his Peers, there were those who were in pain from this life.

Regarding this, one of his Peers had said before.

— Once you know the Taste of Meat, you can’t go back to how it was before.

And according to Lauren’s understanding, the Principle of Drugs was something like that.

At that time, Yulian tapped his stack of Prescriptions and said.

”Also, at first glance it might seem like we are using it indiscriminately on Patients, but that isn’t it. This is due to the particularity of our Infirmary.”

Meyer Infirmary is a place where literally Final Boss-level Patients come.

I mean, there is no one who comes here just to get simple Cold Medication.

Mostly, it’s just people with broken bones or one of their internal organs gone bad.

They were Patients for whom Morphine was absolutely necessary.

”Of course, that doesn’t mean I lower my guard. That’s why I’m using it while strictly controlling it.”

He counted on his fingers one by one.

”Never using more than the designated amount at a time, keeping an interval of at least ten minutes once used, the total amount that can be used in a day is fixed, leaving a Record of how much was used on whom without omission...... However, this is content you will learn after Graduation when you become Apprentice Healers, so you don’t need to know it already.”

Only then did Lauren feel the huge knot tangled in his mind smoothly loosen up.

When he only listened to the words around him, he thought Morphine was just a terrifying ’Devil’s Snot’ that gnawed away at reason.

But viewed from a medical perspective, the Utility of Morphine was different.

This medication was so desperately needed by Humanity that it overwhelmed all those risks.

”Did you learn well today?”

Ayla and Lauren nodded.

Yulian gave a pleased smile.

”That Stance is good. It’s a medication that deserves to be guarded against a hundred times over, so maintain that Stance, but just use it carefully when needed.”

Yulian recalled his Previous life.

Humans are animals of familiarity.

Even those who considered Drugs dangerous would prescribe them indiscriminately once they got used to them.

The United States was a prime example.

Although there was the lobbying of Pharmaceutical Companies, even taking that into account, the narcotic Painkiller Prescriptions by United States Doctors were too indiscriminate.

And the Price for them breaking the strict Rules mentioned above and arbitrarily prescribing narcotic painkillers was gruesome.

’At the very least, I can’t let this world end up like America.’

That was why, in Yulian’s eyes, Lauren and Ayla’s Stance was desirable.

Such vigilance was exactly what would prevent them from becoming dull to familiarity.

Since Morphine was a Medication that wasn’t insufficient even if one prescribed it while making a Fuss.

Having finished his thoughts, Yulian pulled a Silver Watch from his pocket and checked the Time.

”This Weekend, I have some business so I will be visiting the Capital for a bit. I’ll Handover the remaining Ward Rounds and Weekend Night Duty to another Healer, so you all follow that person around.”

”By any chance, is it because of Morphine?”

”I suppose so.”

The second month of Morphine’s Disclosure.

Yulian still had much to do.

It couldn’t be helped since it was a transitional period of setting up The System for narcotic painkillers.

Thus, Yulian, parting with the two.

As he returned to his Office, the Elf Bodyguard Perisia approached while hugging a Document file like a Secretary.

”Lord Yulian. About the scheduled Morphine-related meeting with The Military and the Board of Inspection in the Capital Tomorrow. Will you proceed Tomorrow Morning as scheduled?”

”Please do so.”

Yulian added as he took off his Gown.

”Ah, right. Shallot and Miss Jenny will also go up to the Capital together by Airship this Dinner, so please Contact them to come to the Terminal so they won’t be late.”

”Understood.”

Yulian leaned back in his Chair and stretched.

And he suddenly thought.

’......But Shallot won’t do drugs, will she?’

His Fiancée, Shallot.

The existence that became her motif was a Drug addict.

I mean a severe Drug addict who would use Cocaine when bored because no Incident came in.

Fortunately, this world was Dark Fantasy.

She barely had any time to be bored.

But he couldn’t lower his guard.

The other’s motif was none other than an Eccentric Detective.

One never knew if she might suddenly use Cocaine because she was bored for some reason.

Depending on the situation, maybe even Morphine.

Perhaps that was why.

’I should make another TRPG game or something so she won’t be bored on the way to The Capital.’

It was Yulian thinking that he must make the utmost Effort so she wouldn’t be bored even for a moment.

’Because that is Watson’s role.’

Since that was his role as a Fiancé, as the Great detective’s Assistant, as a Rival, and......

Anyway, since it was his role.
