At this moment.

Bai Xiqin and Leng Yebai were stunned beyond words to describe the scene before them.

Even more astonishing than encountering a female zombie giving birth.

A question suddenly arose in Bai Xiqin’s heart.

What are zombies?

Ordinary zombies are like walking corpses, with no control over their bodies, reacting to nothing but flesh and blood.

High-level zombies are those with memories and the ability to command, and the highest-level Zombie Kings look exactly like humans.

Whether ordinary zombies or Zombie Kings, it’s certain that zombies are the bodies of deceased humans.

After encountering Chao Yan and her daughter, Bai Xiqin began to see zombies as a newly emerging race.

Because their actions resemble those of humans from tens of thousands of years ago, just beginning to awaken a tiny bit of intelligence.

They appear not very smart, yet they’re genuinely progressing.

Apes tens of thousands of years ago, and humans tens of thousands of years later, are both results of evolution.

But zombies, will they evolve into a new civilization?

The answer might be no, or it might be yes.

Can the decaying bodies of zombies give birth to new babies?

The birth of Chao Yan’s zombie baby suggests it’s possible.

But having just this single unique individual doesn’t mean all zombies can reproduce.

If the world is truly a cycle of reincarnations, why is it that only humans have endured, with no presence of zombies in modern society?

The Emperor’s daughter was once called a Drought, resurrected from the dead, and later, occasional tales of zombies and the undead emerged, but they were mostly baseless rumors.

Zombies can reproduce but the chances are very low.

Most zombies are mere mindless walking corpses.

They won’t carry fresh flesh to court a mate.

Nor will they build houses, let alone drive cars.

Clumsy, mindless zombies do not have complex emotions like humans.

Surely, the Zombie King wouldn’t take a liking to a female zombie with a rotting face.

Additionally, there are too few Zombie Kings, even if a few pairs match, they might not give birth to new zombie babies.

Everything clearly tells humans that as long as they survive, it’s possible that the last zombie on earth might perish one day soon.

When that time comes, humans might have the chance to restore a civilized society.

If this generation can’t do it, then the next, and if not the next, then the one after that...

There will be such a day.

But the scene in front of Bai Xiqin filled her with a sense of fear.

Will zombies really go extinct?

Will zombie babies only be as unique as Chao Yan’s?

The sight in front of Bai Xiqin clearly told her, No! Way!

Bai Xiqin and Leng Yebai stood aside, in front of them, stood several zombies.

From their attire and hairstyles, it was apparent there were male and female zombies.

They stood closely facing each other in pairs.

Their rotting arms were either resting on each other’s shoulders or rigidly encircling each other’s waists.

There were no expressions on their decaying faces, and their clothes remained, yet their behaviors resembled a mimicry of...

Reproduction is an instinct for any species.

Now, surprisingly enough, this instinct includes zombies as well.

Even if they haven’t truly engaged in the act, they indeed behave like humans, with two decaying bodies snuggling up to each other.

Occasionally, decaying flesh flew off their bodies, and the black blood made their clothes even more filled with the stench of decay.

Nothing seemed to disturb them, even with Bai Xiqin and Leng Yebai standing there, the strong scent of flesh didn’t stop their instincts.

Bai Xiqin continued to look ahead, the road was long and there were many zombies on it, they were all doing the same action.

These zombies were all wearing white lab coats, they were personnel from the base.

Now, turned into zombies, they had awakened instincts unlike the zombies outside.

Their actions were futile, they would never give birth to zombie babies, but who can guarantee that they wouldn’t continue to awaken their instincts?

Perhaps, tomorrow they will understand that their clothes are bothersome.

... Perhaps the day after, the female zombies’ bellies will swell.

Thud, thud, thud, sounds continuously echoed.

It’s like a death knell for humans.

The breeding ability of zombies will determine the future of humans.

If only a few zombie babies are born occasionally, it wouldn’t matter.

But if hordes and hordes of zombies...

The more I think about it, the more I worry about the world’s future.

Can humanity return to its peak?

”Roar—”

A zombie roar suddenly came from the direction of the stone gate.

It sounded somewhat urgent.

In an instant, the busy zombies suddenly stopped.

They stood still, not moving, without even glancing at Bai Xiqin and Leng Yebai.

Upon closer look, their bodies were trembling uncontrollably.

A High Rank Zombie was approaching.

Bai Xiqin gripped a dagger, exerting control power on the zombies to prevent them from rushing all at once.

”Oh my, finally caught up, you two are so bold! The High Rank Zombies inside are quite formidable!”

A gentle voice with a hint of lingering fear reached before Bai Xiqin.

The voice belonged to Zombie King Xiao Li.

Bai Xiqin instantly breathed a sigh of relief, but she didn’t withdraw the control power on the ordinary zombies.

She felt these zombies were too strange, better to be cautious.

Soon, two figures appeared in front of Bai Xiqin and Leng Yebai.

One was Zombie King Xiao Li.

The other was a male zombie in a suit with a face full of rotting flesh.

Bai Xiqin had seen the suited male zombie before in Zhang Yiming’s Zombie Village, her mother and grandmother had put makeup on it.

The rotting flesh on the suited male zombie’s face seemed to have lessened, and its eyes were much livelier than before.

The only thing unchanged was that its clothes were very clean, and its hair was meticulously groomed.

”What brings you here?”

Bai Xiqin looked at Zombie King Xiao Li with surprise.

Wasn’t he supposed to go to Fang Jin?

How did he end up detouring here?

”There are too many zombies here, the Emperor was worried, so he sent me and Little Suit to assist.”

Xiao Li cheerfully patted the shoulder of the suited male zombie,

”Little Suit, say hi to Xiao Niu.”

”Roar...”

The suited male zombie bared its black teeth, showing a rather aggressive smile at Bai Xiqin, thinking it was a pleasant expression.

Alas, with a face full of rotting flesh and missing a finger, there’s no way to act cute.

”It says hello, have you eaten today?”

Xiao Li naturally translated for Bai Xiqin.

What Xiao Li didn’t say was that the suited male zombie added afterward, ”I haven’t eaten either, may I take a bite of you?”

He too wanted to take a bite of the fresh meat before him, but he dared not.

The suited male zombie wasn’t clever, knowing only that the boss didn’t allow them to bite, finding it hard to control the urge to devour flesh, so it politely asked.

With a somewhat higher intelligence, he didn’t dare ask, for fear of being beaten to death.

”Hello, I haven’t eaten.”

Bai Xiqin’s mouth twitched.

At this late hour, who eats dinner?!

”Let’s go in together! The guys inside are tough, stay behind me, if you can win, grab their Crystal Core, if not, take me and Little Suit’s Crystal Core and run, better not let them have it!”

Xiao Li spoke calmly.

As an unemotional Zombie King, he always knew what’s right.

Bai Xiqin: ...

Feels like turning into a Zombie King after being infected with the zombie virus has side effects.

Like burning out the brain.

The former Xiao Li was a cunning man, now his demeanor has drastically changed, becoming more and more ridiculous.
