The Number One Star in the Interstellar Era

Chapter 814: SOME ONLINE REACTION (THE SHADOW WITHIN EDITION)

AFTER the first screenings of the movie played in several theaters, posts about it started filling up [Cyberspace]. Because it was an independent film, few well-known critics put out early reviews. But one of them did. Her name was Kristin Kirkwood, a film critic with a decent following who had been posting reviews of every movie Astrid had appeared in so far.

Kristin Kirkwood v: [ opens with a strong sequence that sets the tone immediately. It grips you from the start and establishes the kind of dread the film is aiming for. However, the middle act does lag. The investigation scenes lose some momentum and could have benefited from tighter editing.

But the film picks up again in the third act. The tension returns, and the payoff is worth the wait.

The cinematography deserves special mention. The use of light and shadow shows exactly the kind of atmosphere Director McCann was going for. For a first time feature director, McCann displays real talent. He understands pacing, framing, and how to build unease without relying on cheap scares. The music elevates everything. It is haunting without being overpowering, and it fits the tone of the film perfectly.

The acting is strong across the board. Rhett Archer is a revelation. His performance as the lead carries weight and vulnerability. He holds his own against more experienced cast members. Astrid Townsend is, as usual, superb. On the surface, his role as the calm, collected psychiatrist seems simple. But after the final reveal, you realize there is much more happening beneath the surface. His performance has layers that reward a second viewing.

is not perfect, but it is a confident and impressive debut.

Overall Score: 8.9/10]

- Is this a new movie? It sounds like it might be good. Maybe I should check it out.

└ Yes, it is a new movie. It is an indie film starring Astrid Townsend. You should definitely watch it.

└└ An indie film? With how Kirkwood talked about it, I thought it was a big studio release.

└ This critic is a fan of Astrid Townsend. Her review is probably biased.

└└ Can you stop making things up? Is it bias when every movie Astrid has been in turned out well?

- I just watched it too. I wonʼt give any spoilers, but I agree with everything written here.

└ Was it really that good? Iʼm not sure about watching an indie film. Are they not too artsy?

└└ Same here. When I watch a movie, I donʼt want to think too hard. I just want to enjoy.

└└└ Donʼt worry. You donʼt need to use your brain much. You will still enjoy it.

└└ I think itʼs good. Itʼs not like those indie films that lower the entertainment value just to send a message about society. It is pretty balanced.

└ Can you give any spoilers? Just a small one?

└└ I suggest you just go watch the movie. You will get your moneyʼs worth.

- Who is Rhett Archer? So the main lead of the movie is some unknown guy? Who is going to bring in the money for this film?

└ So what if Rhett is not a famous actor? Everyone has to start somewhere.

└ Who will bring in the money? Astrid. Thatʼs why heʼs in the movie. LOL

└ Donʼt talk about Rhett yet when you havenʼt seen the movie. You might end up eating your words.

└└ This is so true. I experienced it myself. XD The guy was great.

- Does anyone know who did the music for this movie? Itʼs fantastic.

└ I looked it up just now. It says someone named Kiran composed and produced all the music.

└└ Hey, I know him. Heʼs the one who made those recent hit songs that climbed pretty high on the charts.

└└└ Isnʼt he a house composer for Polaris? No wonder he worked on this movie.

└└└└ No, I think heʼs a free agent.

- Is this really the directorʼs first feature film? If thatʼs the case, then heʼs very talented.

└ Yes. Itʼs his first feature film. I think if someone gives him a bigger budget, he could make an epic blockbuster.

└└ You canʼt be sure about that. Some directors only do well in certain types of movies.

└└└ Thatʼs such a stupid thing to say. So youʼre saying his talent would not carry over if he tried a different genre?

└ I hope he makes another movie after this.

└└ I think there will definitely be a sequel after this. If not, I will riot.

└└└ Letʼs riot together. Astridʼs character would be wasted if thereʼs no sequel.

└└└└ Now youʼre making me curious. What does that have to do with the role Astrid played?

- What you said about Aster makes me feel like I need to watch the movie again just to watch everything he does.

└ I feel the same way.

└ Yeah, after that scene after the credits, it feels like everything Dr. Stevens did meant something different.

└└ Hey, no spoilers!

└└└ Sorry! >_<

└ I am definitely going to watch it a second time. Just to study Aster.

└└ Thatʼs real dedication right there.

- Aster really did a great job in this movie. Iʼll admit, I was not happy when I found out heʼs not the main lead. But after watching the film, I understood why.

└ Exactly. Heʼs perfect for the role of Dr. Stevens.

└ I think Aster probably picked this role himself because he knew there might be a sequel.

└└ Then we need to make sure this movie does well so we can get a part two.

- All I can say is, do not leave the theater when the credits roll. Wait a little and watch the scene after the credits.

└ Hahaha I get what you mean.

└ +1

As the hours went by, more posts about the movie showed up online. People shared their thoughts after watching, talked about their favorite scenes, and recommended the film to others. It was not the huge wave of posts you would see from a big commercial release with a lot of marketing money behind it. But for an indie film with limited promotion, the amount of attention it was getting was already more than anyone had expected.
