Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 199: Chapter 193 The New Prefect_3

But no matter who handles it, this matter will not be affected; the Luo family can still buy those shops.

”Alright, I’ll go find Luo Zhen!” Jiang He agreed and then left.

After Yang Zhenshan left the government office, he returned to the main courtyard and said to Yu Qingyi: ”During this period, the Prefectural Government should start selling farmland outside the city. Take a look if there are any good manors.”

Yu Qingyi, who was embroidering a robe, furrowed her brows upon hearing this, ”I’m afraid we don’t have enough surplus Silver to buy a manor!”

A manor, that is, a farmstead.

A small farmstead has at least two to three hundred acres of land, and a large one can have over a thousand acres.

The price of farmland in An Yuan City is similar to that in Anning County, with one acre of dry land costing around four taels, so a small manor would cost nearly a thousand taels.

Yang Zhenshan was not unaware of how much Silver Coin the family had, although Yu Qingyi had been managing the household recently. However, since Yu Qingyi often showed him the account books, he was very familiar with the family’s financial situation.

The family might be short on funds, but he had money in his hands!

Yang Zhenshan hadn’t touched any of the treasures within the Spiritual Spring Space.

”I’ll go get you some Silver!” Yang Zhenshan turned and left the side room, entering the next-door storeroom.

This storeroom was his; it contained some of his miscellaneous items. In fact, there wasn’t much inside. The valuable items were all placed in the Spiritual Spring Space, and this storeroom was just a decoy.

Yang Zhenshan quickly carried a large chest out of the storeroom.

He placed the chest in front of Yu Qingyi and opened it, revealing the shiny Silver inside.

”Take this Silver and buy a manor!”

He was not short of Silver now, but how to convert that gold and Silver into the Yang family’s assets was the issue.

Silver stashed inside the Spiritual Spring Space was just a pile of metal, meaningless, unless spent or invested.

But with so much gold and Silver, it wasn’t easy for Yang Zhenshan to spend it all; he could only take it out bit by bit.

The sale of land by the Prefectural Government was an opportunity, and the Yang family could just take the chance to purchase a farmstead.

”Where did all this Silver come from?”

Yu Qingyi was full of surprise and doubt as she looked at the Silver.

”Husband, you haven’t embezzled the salary of the government office, have you?”

”...”

Yang Zhenshan was helplessly speechless.

If even Yu Qingyi could think this, what about outsiders?

However, it was normal for Yu Qingyi to think this way. After all, Yu Qingyi was currently in charge of the Yang family’s finances, and she knew exactly how much money the Yang family had.

Yang Zhenshan suddenly producing so much Silver must mean it was not obtained through proper means.

”Uh, this isn’t embezzled, but its origin is indeed hard to explain!” Yang Zhenshan could only say so.

Yu Qingyi took a silver ingot from the chest to inspect, ”Husband, did you rob from thieves?”

She still believed in Yang Zhenshan’s integrity. Whether Yang Zhenshan was a corrupt official, she knew very well, after all, she shared the bed with him every night and was quite informed about affairs at the Front Office.

As for robbing from thieves, this was a common occurrence in the worldly society, and Yu Qingyi had done so herself in the past.

”Hmm, something like that!” Yang Zhenshan said with a smile.

Yu Qingyi’s eyes sparkled; she remembered the night Yang Zhenshan went out, ”Then, husband, how much did you take?”

Her demeanor resembled that of a little miser, adorable and charming in her greed.

Yang Zhenshan couldn’t help but want to tease her, ”Guess!”

”A ten thousand taels!” Yu Qingyi guessed greedily.

”Wrong!”

”Is it more or less?” Yu Qingyi’s eyes were full of expectation.

”Less!”

Yu Qingyi’s eyes shone even brighter.

To her, ten thousand taels was already a lot. Despite being the former Sect Leader of the Sky Blue Sword Sect, the most Silver she had ever seen at one time was just a silver note of a thousand taels.

”Twenty thousand?”

”Wrong!”

”Thirty thousand?”

Yang Zhenshan kept shaking his head.

Yu Qingyi’s eyes widened, her mouth gaping, ”Could it be fifty thousand?”

In the worldly society, it was common to rob a few hundred or even a thousand or two taels, but tens of thousands were almost unheard of, at least Yu Qingyi had never heard of it.

Jianghu Martial Artists were never representatives of wealth; although richer than ordinary people, compared to real affluence, such wealth was impossible to possess in the worldly society.

”There’s roughly fifty thousand taels in gold and Silver!” Yang Zhenshan felt it was time to be somewhat truthful, fearing the real truth might shock his wife too much.

Yu Qingyi was truly almost scared out of her wits.

Fifty thousand taels!

That was fifty thousand taels!

For anyone, this was not a small figure, even for the officials and nobles in the court!

”Is there really no trouble?”

Yu Qingyi started to worry.

Yang Zhenshan extended his hand to embrace her in his arms, ”Don’t worry, there won’t be any trouble!”
