Chaotic Sword God

Chapter 3990: Strange Sorrow

As Jian Chen submerged himself in the secrets of the Hundred Superimposition Sword, he immediately felt his knowledge and grasp over this secret technique rapidly increase. He progressed even faster than when he initially comprehended the first five layers.

The Hundred Superimposition Sword could achieve one hundred superimpositions, but the number of superimpositions was like comprehending the laws. It would become more difficult the more he comprehended.

But at this moment, as Jian Chen comprehended the sixth layer, he discovered that it was even easier than comprehending the five layers before this. This was an unexpected surprise to him.

Of course, perhaps the difficulty and speed of comprehending the sixth layer had improved with the assistance of the jade disc, but it did not mean that he would take any less time to comprehend the sixth layer than the previous five layers.

For example, if he needed a thousand years to go from the fifth layer to the sixth when he comprehended the Hundred Superimposition Sword left behind by the Skyscraping Sword Venerable, he would only need several centuries or even several decades when comprehending through the jade disc.

All was calm in the Observance Heaven City. Before he knew it, five years had already passed.

During these five years, Jian Chen had remained in the inn the entire time, comprehending the Hundred Superimposition Sword. He had never set foot outside of his room. The Laws of the Sword would leak out from his body from time to time, permeating the room with a profound presence. Fortunately, it was blocked by the formation, so it did not spread to the outside world.

On this day, Jian Chen’s eyes suddenly opened after five years of secluded cultivation. The moment his eyes snapped open, endless sword intent seemed to surge through them. In the end, it condensed into six almost-tangible flashes that merged and superimposed together.

The flashes in his eyes appeared only for a split second before vanishing. Jian Chen slowly lowered his head. He looked at the jade disc in his hands. Some surprise suddenly appeared in his calm eyes.

He discovered that the jade disc was even more profound than he had imagined. Under normal circumstances, he would need a century at the very least to comprehend the sixth layer of the Hundred Superimposition Sword.

However, he had achieved this in five short years through the jade disc.

This boon was truly unexpected.

“The Skyscraping Sword Venerable used countless years to comprehend nine layers. Meanwhile, I used less than a hundred years to reach the sixth. At this rate, I’ll surpass the Skyscraping Sword Venerable in no time.”

“Looks like the jade disc in my hand has greater fate with me…”

Jian Chen’s heart was filled with anticipation. Then he closed his eyes and continued his comprehension of the Hundred Superimposition Sword.

He was not satisfied with the sixth layer. He needed to deepen his grasp over the Hundred Superimposition Sword. At his current level, the room for growth for both his cultivation and comprehension was close to running out. Only the Hundred Superimposition Sword could assist him in breaking the limits. It could let him achieve actual progress in battle prowess.

However, as Jian Chen tried to comprehend the seventh layer after grasping the sixth layer, he discovered some slight flaws with the previous five layers through the effects of the jade disc.

“No, there seems to be slight mistakes in the previous five layers. It is lacking a little purity as well as a little… a little bit of indescribable grace…” Jian Chen was alarmed. Vaguely, he seemed to realise that the Hundred Superimposition Sword he had comprehended from the Skyscraping Sword Venerable did not truly achieve the essence. If he continued down this path, he would struggle to truly unleash the power of the Hundred Superimposition Sword. Even his future limit would be affected.

“If I want to truly grasp the Hundred Superimposition Sword, I have to do it through this jade disc.” Jian Chen struggled to remain calm upon understanding this. He felt very glad about obtaining this item.

Afterwards, he gathered his thoughts and submerged himself in the profound presence of the jade disc again. He began comprehending from the very first layer of the Hundred Superimposition Sword, carefully combing through the errors, finding the flaws, and amending them.

As he had the help of the jade disc, Jian Chen amended the Hundred Superimposition Sword very quickly. In just three years, he had comprehended the first five layers of the Hundred Superimposition Sword again, bringing them to a complete state.

Immediately, Jian Chen felt that the six layers he had grasped were even smoother than before. They were basically a creation of nature, without any flaws at all.

With a thought, Jian Chen directly entered the Primeval Divine Hall. He hovered over an empty space in the Primeval Divine Hall, wielding the Heaven-lifting sword in hand and slashing out at an empty area.

Immediately, the sword flashed, and he casually used the Six Superimposition Sword. The might of an Immortal Exalt shook up the space.

The power of the sword was well beyond what any Immortal Emperor could reach, as it was far too great. Only Immortal Exalts could possess this power.

“Satisfying! It’s actually so easy and natural to use the Six Superimposition Sword, almost as if it was made specially for me.”

“Now this is the true Hundred Superimposition Sword. The Hundred Superimposition Sword I had grasped from the Skyscraping Sword Venerable was not pure. I just wonder if the Hundred Superimposition Sword that the Skyscraping Sword Venerable had grasped had achieved the essence or not.”

Jian Chen could not help but laugh aloud. He discovered that the Hundred Superimposition Sword was extremely compatible with him. He could use it with great composure each time. It was as smooth as flowing water, as easy as swinging his hand.

“Master, the Hundred Superimposition Sword you used just now feels very different from before.” The Primeval artifact spirit’s voice rang out with a hint of amazement and seriousness.

It could sense a different power inside the Hundred Superimposition Sword, which was both tremendous and profound.

He had not sensed this before.

The three sovereign god artifacts were still suppressing the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s soul, but he could only hold his ground defensively after losing the upper hand. As a result, the three sovereign god artifacts had it much easier. They had all recovered some spare strength.

“Of course. The Hundred Superimposition Sword I’ve grasped right now is different from before,” Jian Chen said with a smile before leaving the Primeval Divine Hall and returning to his room. Holding the jade disc in his hands, he began comprehending the seventh layer!

But this time, something unexpected happened. Perhaps because Jian Chen had amended the flaws of the five previous layers and obtained the true essence of the secret technique, but the jade disc in his hand suddenly turned into a blur, bypassing any distance and directly shooting into his soul when he tried to comprehend the seventh layer.

This caught Jian Chen off-guard. He did not even have the time to respond before the jade disc vanished into his forehead, instantly entering his soul. Afterwards, it suddenly shattered. A profound presence leaked out, merging with his soul.

Jian Chen was immediately stunned. In particular, when the profound presence merged with his soul, his eyes blanked and hollowed out. Even his entire mind was drastically affected. He began to shake uncontrollably.

As the profound presence merged with him, it brought forth great sorrow and pain, leaving him with a strange sadness.

The heavy sorrow even made his heart contract violently. His blood seemed to be boiling, circulating at an unprecedented speed.

Even Jian Chen failed to sense that his eyes had already begun to moisten gradually. Cloudy tears poured out uncontrollably, falling droplet by droplet and wetting his clothes.

At that moment, his emotions completely lost control. Uncontrollable sorrow and pain filled his entire mind, giving him the urge to sob and howl out loud.

Jian Chen sucked in a deep breath. Tears continued to roll from his eyes as his heart spasmed violently. He lowered his head and gazed at the cloudy tears that landed on the back of his hand. His eyes were lost.

He did not know why he felt sorrow, nor did he know the origins of this pain, but his experiences at this moment made him think of what had occurred to him outside the Hole of Reincarnation.

In the past, his emotions had also responded abnormally outside the Hole of Reincarnation. It was identical to his current state.
