I Grind to Martial Saint

”I don’t care who this person is... My brother is dead, and now he must die too!”

Fang Tai’s face was grim, and he clenched his teeth so hard they bled.

”That man is still in Nanping County Town. The scattered Jianghe Province Soldiers in the area are also moving toward it.”

”If we’re going to strike, we have to do it soon.”

The Wangling Sect Priest urged him on.

He, too, wanted Fang Tai to hurry to Nanping County Town and execute that man.

Otherwise, this excellent situation for the Wangling Sect might be jeopardized because of him.

”Hmph!”

”Come to think of it, my brother died because of your Wangling Sect.”

”Aren’t you going to offer some compensation?”

Fang Tai’s gaze turned frigid.

The Wangling Sect Priest’s heart skipped a beat. ”Of course,” he said hastily.

”The High Priest said that as long as General Fang can take that man down, the original promises will be doubled!”

Only then did Fang Tai look away.

”Men!”

”Relay my order! The Iron Blade Army marches tonight! We head to Nanping County Town to avenge Commander Fang!”

Fang Tai roared to the men outside his tent.

”As you command!”

Soon.

The once-silent camp instantly erupted into a chaotic clamor.

Though the soldiers grumbled, Fang Tai’s fearsome reputation was so overwhelming that no one dared defy his command.

One hour later, the Iron Blade Army officially set out, marching with great force toward Nanping County Town.

...

「Three days later.」

Over these past few days, the Jianghe Province Soldiers scattered across northern Tongming County had gradually gathered in Nanping County Town.

Their numbers quickly swelled to over six thousand.

Han Yuan placed all of them under Song Guang’s command.

「Nanping County Yamen, Main Hall.」

”Director Han, this is the only path Fang Tai can take to reach Nanping County.”

”I believe an ambush here would have a high chance of success.”

Song Guang said in a low voice, pointing to a map on the table.

”It’s a good plan. Fang Tai will likely expect us to make a desperate stand in Nanping County Town; he won’t anticipate us taking the offensive and catching him by surprise.”

Han Yuan nodded.

’That Fang Tai was originally just a miner. He doesn’t know the first thing about strategy. He made a name for himself purely through his own martial prowess.’

’Besides, if my theory is right and he’s been corrupted by an Evil Demon Seed, his mind will surely be affected. He’ll be exceptionally frenzied.’

’And now with Fang Xingwen dead, his rage has probably overwhelmed his reason.’

”Then we’ll deploy ahead of time and set an ambush in the mountains,”

Song Guang said.

”Mm, go ahead and make the arrangements.”

Han Yuan said with a wave of his hand.

「That night.」

Five thousand Jianghe Province Soldiers slipped out of the city and lay in wait within a mountain forest.

They waited until noon the next day.

An army ten thousand strong finally appeared in the distance.

”General Fang, once we pass through this forest up ahead, it won’t be long before we reach Nanping County Town.”

The Wangling Priest, riding on horseback beside Fang Tai, wiped the sweat from his face.

The weather was so hot he felt on the verge of heatstroke.

Fang Tai was clad in a black robe, his bulging muscles looking as if they would burst the seams. He carried a menacing Wolf Fang Club over his shoulder. Hearing the priest’s words, he sneered, ”Then let’s pick up the pace. I want Nanping County Town taken by sunset!”

”With your divine might, General, it will be a simple matter.”

the Wangling Priest said with fawning praise.

Neither of the two men sensed the murderous intent that lay ahead.

One was a former miner, now with his mind clouded by rage.

The other only knew how to manipulate people and understood nothing of warfare.

They both assumed Han Yuan would simply cower in Nanping County Town, waiting for them to crush him.

And so.

Fang Tai led the Iron Blade Army straight into the forest, completely unguarded.

Hidden in a thicket, Song Guang and Han Yuan watched as Fang Tai led his army into the mountains, a cold glint flashing in their eyes.

’Nothing but a disorganized mob, after all.’

He gave the signal without hesitation, a simple wave of his hand.

The next moment.

From the forests on both sides, countless figures suddenly rose, drawing their bows and loosing arrows at the Iron Blade Army.

WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

Countless arrows, glinting with a deadly light, relentlessly claimed the lives of the Iron Blade Army soldiers.

The surprise attack threw the Iron Blade Army into instant chaos. Their formation broke, and screams echoed without end.

”Hold the line!!!”

Seeing this, Fang Tai tilted his head back and roared.

But screaming couldn’t solve the problem now.

He had no idea how to organize his men, and his roar only sowed more confusion.

More and more Iron Blade Army soldiers fell to the arrows, and the ground became littered with bodies.

Many of the wounded who had not died instantly lay on the ground, their wails of agony filling the air.

Panic and fear spread like wildfire through the Iron Blade Army, and the situation spiraled further out of control.

Witnessing the chaos, Song Guang calmly ordered his soldiers to continue firing.

At this rate, they wouldn’t even need to engage in close-quarters combat to completely rout the Iron Blade Army.

”Dammit!”

Seeing his forces on the verge of collapse, Fang Tai could no longer contain himself.

He swung his Wolf Fang Club, deflecting the incoming arrows as his eyes scanned the forests on either side.

Soon.

He locked onto Song Guang’s figure.

’I’ve been in situations like this before.’

’Every time, I just had to rely on my own terrifying strength to kill the enemy commander, and I could turn the tide.’

’This time...’

’...will be no different!’

”KILL!!!”

Like a wild beast, Fang Tai charged toward Song Guang’s position.

RUMBLE—

He charged straight ahead, smashing trees and rocks in his path to dust.

Yet Song Guang, watching Fang Tai charge toward him, showed no trace of panic. He was terrifyingly calm.

”Your opponent... is me.”

A calm yet brutal voice cut through the air.

The next moment.

A figure shot out from the thicket.

Great Demon Qi surged around Han Yuan’s body as he drew the Dragon Sparrow Cloud-Splitting Saber and leaped into the air.

SCREEE—

The phantom of a pitch-black, vicious bird materialized behind Han Yuan, letting out a skyward cry.

A vicious arc of saber light, accompanied by the shriek, slashed down toward Fang Tai.

”You’re the one who killed my brother!!!”

Fang Tai felt the terrifying power of the attack and instantly understood. With a furious roar, he swung his Wolf Fang Club, smashing it forward with all his might!

BOOM—

The instant the Dragon Sparrow Cloud-Splitting Saber and the Wolf Fang Club collided, everyone in the forest felt their ears ring. A terrifying Gang Feng erupted, snapping all the surrounding trees and plants.

The two figures were thrown seven or eight meters apart.

”You damn son of a bitch!”

Black markings writhed across Fang Tai’s face, making it hideously contorted. He shot forward like a black shadow, his Wolf Fang Club swinging with the force of Sweeping Thousand Soldiers, aimed to shatter Han Yuan’s spine.

Instead of using his Dragon Sparrow Cloud-Splitting Saber, Han Yuan lashed out with a vicious whip kick.

The explosive force of the kick left a blur of afterimages as it slammed into the Wolf Fang Club!

BOOM—

The Vajra Indestructible Divine Skill made his flesh and bone as hard as steel, allowing him to meet the Wolf Fang Club head-on without giving an inch.

At the same time, the Dragon Sparrow Cloud-Splitting Saber became a streak of light, slashing brutally toward Fang Tai’s head.
