BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

All across the streets, rooftops, and sky above the city, countless figures streaked through the air, one after another drawn by the terrifying phenomenon. Yet just as they drew near, every single one of them froze, expressions changing in unison. Whether it was a Dou Wang, a Dou Huang, or even a Dou Zong, each heart was seized by a nameless dread.

Because at that moment, an overwhelming aura suddenly erupted forth — vast and majestic, like that of a sovereign awakening from slumber, his killing intent sweeping through heaven and earth.

”From this moment until the pill is born, anyone who dares approach this place... dies.”

The voice was cold, indifferent, and yet the calmness in its tone only made it all the more chilling. Under the pressure of that boundless killing aura, none dared to test whether those words were a bluff. All the figures in the distance halted midair, gazing up at the roiling thunderclouds with awe and trembling excitement.

”I never thought I’d live to see a Three-Colored Pill Lightning with my own eyes... and to witness the birth of an 8th Tier Pill!”

”Incredible! Since when did our Lingyun City have an 8th Tier Alchemist? Could it be... Master Liu Xi?”

”Hss— you mean that Liu Xi? The one who, three years ago, suppressed Ice River Valley, and a year ago forced the Bai Clan to bow their heads? I thought he was only a 7th Tier Alchemist!”

”How could someone like him be limited to that? He’s accompanied by Dou Zun-level protectors at all times. Clearly, he’s a man of lofty virtue, unmoved by fame or wealth. Who in this world could compare?”

While the city buzzed with speculation, atop a rooftop, Liu Xi lightly tapped his foot and rose into the air, landing gracefully on the roof’s edge. His eyes reflected the heavens above, where thunderclouds churned endlessly. A satisfied smile curved across his face.

”To think my first attempt at refining an 8th Tier Pill would actually summon Three-Colored Pill Lightning... not bad at all. Once I fully master the ’Spirit Convergence,’ with my current Spirit Realm Soul, I might even be able to summon Five-Colored Pill Lightning.”

With a casual wave of his sleeve, a golden light shimmered before him — a towering puppet cloaked in radiance, emanating the aura of a boundless beast. The Heavenly Demon Puppet stood motionless, like a silent guardian. Over the past year, Liu Xi had used the power of Pill Lightning to mend the damage to his two Heavenly Demon Puppets, restoring them to their peak. Yet even now, he had not managed to raise their strength further.

In the sky, thunder roared. Silver-white lightning serpents slithered through the dense tri-colored clouds, their roars shaking heaven and earth. Then, in an instant, one of them dived, its fangs bared, descending with a scream that split the skies apart — a bolt of destruction meant to erase all things.

The air trembled. The lightning struck like divine judgment, lashing straight toward the hovering violet pill. The newly formed pill trembled violently. It had already birthed a trace of spiritual awareness, and it knew—if it could not withstand this tribulation, it would be annihilated, reduced to nothingness.

Liu Xi’s gaze remained tranquil. Without a word, he formed a seal with his fingers. The Heavenly Demon Puppet before him shot upward, becoming a streak of golden light that intercepted the incoming bolt.

Boom!

A deafening crash rang out as the lightning slammed into the puppet head-on. For an instant, the world turned white. Then, to everyone’s astonishment, the silver serpent burst apart, breaking into countless thin arcs of electricity that coiled harmlessly around the puppet’s metallic body. The puppet absorbed them greedily, its golden surface flickering brighter, as if the heavenly punishment had only strengthened it.

The first bolt dispersed, but the tribulation was far from over. The thunderclouds above roiled once again, birthing another lightning serpent, then another.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Lightning after lightning rained down from the heavens, one following the other like an endless storm. Each strike split the air, ripping rifts into the void itself. Space warped and shattered, leaving a gaping black hole that exuded a dreadful tearing force.

And within that collapsing void, the golden puppet stood tall. Bathed in lightning, it met the heavenly fury with unyielding defiance, its metallic frame unshaken.

The onlookers encircling the city were speechless, eyes wide in disbelief.

”Such a terrifying puppet... to resist the heavens themselves, using its body to bear the full force of Pill Lightning!”

”Unbelievable! Just one strike of that lightning could cripple a Dou Zong like me, yet that puppet doesn’t even move an inch!”

”With such a puppet at his command, Liu Xi alone could rival a top-tier power!”

Under the astonished gazes of countless people, nearly a hundred bolts of lightning descended. Yet not one could breach the puppet’s defense. Finally, the tri-colored thunderclouds grew thin, trembling and fracturing apart with a final boom before dissipating into the sky.

When the storm passed, a single violet pill floated serenely in midair, spinning in place like a playful child. Joy radiated from its smooth, luminous surface. Wisps of purple light swirled around it, condensing into the shape of a small tiger. The tiny creature, with the ”King” mark glowing on its brow, turned its bright eyes toward Liu Xi, huffed arrogantly, then bounded away at lightning speed.

It possessed a trace of spirit. And that spirit whispered its defiance.

’Heh... you want to eat me? Maybe in your next life!’

Liu Xi chuckled softly. ”Xian’er.”

At his call, Xiao Yixian’s gentle figure shimmered into view. Her delicate hand reached out through a ripple in space, snatching the small tiger by the scruff of its neck. It flailed its limbs wildly, but the moment her fingers tightened, the tiger’s body dissolved into mist, the purple vapor surging back into the pill.

The pill flickered pitifully in Xiao Yixian’s grasp, emitting a faint glow as though pleading for mercy. Her expression softened, and she avoided meeting its gaze. With light steps, she crossed the air to Liu Xi’s side.

”Young Master, here.”

Liu Xi turned, withdrawing his gaze from the Heavenly Demon Puppet that now stood silently before him. Through the tribulation, the puppet forged from the corpse of the Earth Demon Old Ghost had been elevated once more—its power now rivaled that of a 3-Star Dou Zun.

Liu Xi smiled faintly, his eyes filled with warmth as he looked at Xiao Yixian. ”Keep it,” he said softly. ”This Zun Shi Pill was meant for you. Use it now to break through to 6-Star Dou Zun... or save it for 7-Star later. The choice is yours.”

”...Young Master.”

Xiao Yixian’s lips parted slightly, her expression dazed for a moment. Then, without protest, she produced a jade-white vial and carefully placed the glowing pill inside.

They no longer needed words between them. A single glance, a single gesture, was enough. One pill was nothing — they had a lifetime ahead to repay one another.
