Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1718: Chapter 1718: Born in the Corner (32)

A certain office building.

”Director Mi, this needs your signature.” The assistant came in with documents and placed them on the desk.

The man behind the desk looked handsome, with his dark shirt pulled open at two buttons, frowning slightly, looking somewhat impatient: ”Just put it here.”

”Director, this...”

”Leave.”

The assistant shivered with fright, daring not to speak further, and hurriedly left the office.

Mi Yan must have found texting troublesome, so he directly made a phone call.

He stood up from his chair, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and overlooked the entire city.

The person on the other end picked up the phone, and Mi Yan immediately said, ”Who introduced him to the job?”

”I don’t know.”

”Didn’t I ask you to find out?”

”I can’t find out, what can be done? I can’t just ask directly, can I? How would people view me then? Anyway, why are you so set against him?” The person on the other end was also annoyed, and retorted back in a bad tone.

Mi Yan put one hand on his waist: ”Why? After so many years, do you still like him?”

”This has nothing to do with it. He’s in such a state now, posing no threat to you, so why go out of your way to do this?”

Mi Yan’s eyes narrowed, a sinister undercurrent flashing in his gaze: ”I just can’t stand him doing well.”

”You’re sick.”

The person on the other end hung up the phone directly.

Mi Yan called back, only to find himself blocked.

”Huh...”

Mi Yan laughed in anger, with a ball of fury in his heart having no outlet, he spun around in place, suddenly remembering something, pulled out the contact list, and immediately dialed.

”I want you to find a way to ruin Sang Yu’s current job... I don’t care how you do it, he must be dismissed, I’ll give you one week.”

-

Sang Yu took two days off, and upon returning to the company, he was informed that all the images previously on the computer were gone.

Most of them had already been modified; although Sang Yu still had the originals, there was only one day left to submit everything, and time was running short.

”How could they be gone?”

”I don’t know... I came in the morning and found they were missing.” The employee was so anxious they were about to cry.

Every step had a time limit, and if they delayed, the resulting losses would be unaffordable to anyone.

At this point, finding out what happened was meaningless, the most pressing matter was solving it.

Sang Yu was already in a bad mood, and upon arriving was bombarded with work, busy spinning around.

He distributed the originals he had to the team, repairing as much as possible.

By the deadline, only a tiny fraction was completed; the workload was initially heavy, and those images had been worked on for several days.

Even though everyone worked overtime all night, they still couldn’t finish.

”What’s going on? Sang Yu, you’ve never made such a mistake before.”

”This matter has nothing to do with Mr. Sang; the edited photos on the computer suddenly went missing.” Before Sang Yu could speak, an employee nearby spoke up.

The person in charge frowned: ”How could they be missing?”

”I don’t know...” The employee shook his head: ”It was fine when I left the night before, and when I came it was gone.”

He distinctly remembered saving it properly before shutting down the computer and leaving.

The person in charge probably viewed Sang Yu’s previous work as problem-free; though he found the reason strange, he didn’t pursue it further, simply telling them to quickly finish the remaining work by working overtime.

Other issues, would be addressed once this matter was resolved.

Unexpectedly, just as the team wrapped up, Sang Yu received word he had been dismissed.

The reason was that his absence for two days contributed to the result, making him responsible too.

”Isn’t the company being unreasonable?”

”What does this matter have to do with Mr. Sang...”

”Yeah, let’s talk to the company.”

Sang Yu’s team was quite vocal in support, as Sang Yu’s expertise reduced their workload significantly.

Moreover, Sang Yu never acted like other bosses, barking orders.

While he demanded efficiency, once the work was completed, he didn’t care what you did.

This was far more comfortable than working under others, making them reluctant to see Sang Yu leave just like that.

Sang Yu, however, appeared much calmer.

Half a year after the incident, he tried to find work, but before long, he would be inexplicably dismissed.

He had experienced such scenarios many times.

Sang Yu silently packed up his belongings and left.

-

Meanwhile, Mi Yan received the news, his entire body relaxed as he leaned back into his office chair.

”Director, a new shareholder is visiting, and President Huang asked you to come out.” The assistant knocked and entered.

”New shareholder?” Mi Yan frowned: ”Who?”

The assistant quickly shook his head, saying such matters were beyond the knowledge of a mere assistant.

Though the new shareholder... seemed quite young, unlike the previous balding, beer-bellied shareholders.

Despite having doubts, Mi Yan dared not neglect and promptly took the assistant out.

Outside, President Huang was leading a group of people, accompanying a young lady on a tour.

Mi Yan was surprised to see this new shareholder was so young and pretty...

Mi Yan had seen many beauties, including big celebrities from the entertainment circle, but he felt none of them compared to the girl before him.

In terms of features and temperament.

This was truly God’s favored one.

President Huang happily waved at Mi Yan: ”Miss Lu, this is our Director Mi, a young and promising man, don’t be fooled by his young age; his skills are significant...”

President Huang enthusiastically praised Mi Yan before introducing Chuzheng’s identity.

This shareholder status certainly shocked many.

How could someone so young already be a shareholder, while others were still stuck earning meager salaries, the gap between people was just so vast.

Chuzheng glanced at him coldly, thinking, so this is the bastard...

Previously she had no evidence, but in the past few days, Mi Yan had delivered evidence to her hands himself.

”Hello.” Mi Yan smiled and extended his hand.

Chuzheng didn’t move, creating an awkward atmosphere.

With so many company employees watching, Mi Yan felt humiliated. He turned his hand and made a ”please” gesture: ”Let me guide you to visit here.”

”No need, not interested.” Chuzheng refused and turned to President Huang: ”I’ve seen enough, I’m leaving.”

Mi Yan’s expression froze again.

”Huh?” President Huang was baffled.

Wasn’t this young lady saying she wanted to tour? She barely looked around before leaving?

Why was she so whimsical? Are all rich people this capricious?

No matter how much President Huang wanted to complain, he couldn’t show it now: ”Should I see you out?”

Chuzheng answered with a ”hmm” and turned to leave.

”Did the director offend the new shareholder? I feel like the new shareholder doesn’t quite favor the director.” An employee whispered gossip to a colleague.

”I think the same...”

”Can’t be, right? Isn’t it the new shareholder’s first time here?”

”Speaking of which, she’s so pretty and young, looks like a college student still...”

”Having family wealth is great, saves a hundred years of effort.”

Listening to the rumors around him, Mi Yan’s face wasn’t looking very good.
