Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1195: Chapter 1195: Dark Descent (Part 15)

But Captain Shan really couldn’t refuse; finding survivors was his duty.

Ji Lin stood at the doorway at some point, inexplicably staring at the crowd.

Captain Shan knew about his Special Ability: ”Is there a problem?”

”Gun.”

”Where’s your gun?”

Ji Lin turned back, a slight smirk on his lips: ”It was taken.”

Captain Shan: ”...”

Who the hell could be so badass to steal this punk’s gun?

Although Ji Lin hadn’t undergone training yet, his skills spoke for themselves; he had knocked down their military instructor right after arriving.

While it wasn’t exactly orthodox methods, his skills were something an ordinary person couldn’t handle.

Ji Lin took Captain Shan’s gun and aimed it at the crowd.

The crowd noticed his actions and was horrified.

Before they could scream, Ji Lin had already fired two shots in succession, and two people in the crowd fell.

Ji Lin spun the gun: ”Given to me.”

The crowd suddenly clamored and surged toward them. Ji Lin retreated back to the room and slammed the door shut with a bang, instantly leaving Captain Shan engulfed by the crowd.

Captain Shan: ”...”

Lost the gun, and still got this mess to clean up!

How could this punk be so infuriating!

-

After Captain Shan sorted out the situation outside, when Ji Lin appeared again, the survivors were clearly afraid of him.

Even though they knew Ji Lin shot because those two were infected, they were still afraid he’d suddenly shoot them too.

Ji Lin didn’t care at all.

Captain Shan and his team took a rest and soon devised the next step. During this time, two more groups arrived, all drawn by the drone’s banner.

Captain Shan postponed action to wait, thinking more survivors might arrive.

Until it got dark, only five people arrived, and Captain Shan couldn’t delay further, immediately ordering departure.

Traveling at night had its pros and cons.

The advantage was that zombies moved slower at night; the disadvantage was their movement would be hindered.

When they reached the rendezvous point, most people had returned.

Captain Shan did a headcount: ”Those people haven’t returned?”

Referring to Gu He’s group.

”Didn’t see them.”

”We didn’t see them either.”

Captain Shan frowned and had everyone wait a bit longer.

But dawn was approaching, and still, no one showed up, so Captain Shan had no choice but to order departure: ”Take a few people and go back to check; act based on the situation.”

”Yes.”

Since there were more survivors, their cars weren’t enough, and each car was packed to the brim, with some even climbing onto car roofs.

”Miss Chuzheng, does your car have room for more people?”

”No.”

The answer came from Ji Lin.

He was sitting in the passenger seat, legs crossed: ”My car, no one else rides.”

The attitude was nonchalant, but the tone was icy.

There was a warning and displeasure.

It seemed like if Captain Shan dared to squeeze someone in, he’d immediately turn hostile.

Captain Shan seemed to want to say something but hesitated, eventually just leaving.

Ji Lin had previously driven an empty car alone, without letting anyone get on.

Ji Lin probably did something before that made Captain Shan not dare to force anyone into his car.

Chuzheng drove, Jiang Rushuang huddled in the back, and Ji Lin frowned at her then turned to watch Chuzheng fastening her seatbelt, let out a light hum, and grabbed a bag of snacks to eat.

Ji Lin, likely having hamster-like tendencies, seemed to have not moved much, yet the snacks disappeared without a trace.

Chuzheng could only continuously replenish snacks for his convenience.

-

In the morning light, the horizon painted the gray-white sky into a dazzling orange-red.

The temperature gradually rose, and they saw the convoy stopped not far ahead.

From the moment Ji Lin saw the convoy, he quieted down, staring intently in that direction.

Chuzheng looked over there; at this time, everyone should be up, with so many people, the convoy should be a buzz...

But over there, the entire convoy was deathly silent.

Chuzheng abruptly stopped the car, Jiang Rushuang awakened by the brake sound, sat up with a start: ”Xiao Chu, what’s wrong?”

Chuzheng stopped the car; Captain Shan’s vehicle in front also halted, someone using binoculars to check the convoy.

The convoy stretched on the road, empty.

Something happened.

This was quite far from the county town; even if something happened to the convoy, the town wouldn’t hear it.

Captain Shan sent people over to check, confirming that no one was in the entire convoy, no living people, and no zombies, but there were fresh bloodstains on the ground.

The cars were a bit disordered too, with some even parked across the middle road, clearly attempting to drive away but didn’t manage to escape.

Chuzheng remembered when Captain Shan left, the convoy was parked neatly, with the adjacent paths left open...

But now, there were some cars parked on the side that had been left open before.

Chuzheng remembered those cars weren’t part of the convoy.

Maybe they caught up with their convoy after they left and blocked the road.

Then encountered zombies...

Chuzheng stepped on the blood-soaked ground, calmly observing the convoy.

Her gaze swept over the car she previously sat in, now empty, with no sign of the couple.

Just as Chuzheng was about to look away, she noticed a travel bag on the back seat of the car; that travel bag seemed to have moved a bit...

Chuzheng: ”...”

Chuzheng glanced around, walked over, and opened the travel bag.

A frail-looking baby lay inside, gazing at her silently with wide eyes.

The baby’s parents, for some reason, had left him here.

Perhaps at that moment, they knew they’d never escape...

”Xiao Chu, Xiao Chu...”

Chuzheng zipped up the travel bag in one swift motion.

Can’t let the goody-two-shoes see it, or it’ll be a complete disaster! I don’t want to take care of a saint along with a child!

Chuzheng casually got up and blocked the car.

”Xiao Chu, what are you looking at?”

”Nothing.”

Chuzheng nonchalantly walked away, Jiang Rushuang didn’t suspect and said anxiously, ”Captain Shan said the convoy might have been attacked, some cars in front are gone, no idea how many managed to escape.”

”Mm.”

Chuzheng walked back and lifted her head to see Ji Lin sitting on the car roof.

The morning light fell upon him, his whole being seemed to blend into the light, making it hard to look away.

Jiang Rushuang chatted with Chuzheng for a bit and went to help on the other side.

When Jiang Rushuang returned, she found Chuzheng standing by the roadside holding a baby.

The method in which she held it, it seemed she was holding not a baby, but a little wolf cub.

Jiang Rushuang was scared stiff: ”Xiao Chu, isn’t this that sister’s baby? Where’d you find it? It’s about to suffocate; you better let go!”

Chuzheng glanced at the baby, its little face wrinkling up, about to cry, directly tossing it to Jiang Rushuang.

Jiang Rushuang fumbled to catch and check the baby’s status: ”Why did his parents leave him behind?”

Where did Xiao Chu find him?

”How would I know, I’m not his parents.” Chuzheng replied curtly, ”Give him to Captain Shan.”

The survivors go to Captain Shan, no problem!

Totally OK!

I’m such a clever one.

”...Xiao Chu, that’s not okay, Captain Shan and his men, they’re all guys, how can they take care of a baby?”

”Do you know how?”

”...No.” Jiang Rushuang replied sheepishly, she’s a maiden, how would she know how to take care of a baby.
