Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1001: Chapter 1001: Prehistoric Overlord (29)

”Little Phoenix?” Tu Yan glanced at Chuzheng, who was still lying down. He called out twice but got no response, so he stepped inside. ”Little Phoenix, it’s daylight. Time to get up.”

Chuzheng usually woke up early, so it was rare for Tu Yan to see her still in bed at this late hour.

Lying on her side, Chuzheng sounded a bit impatient, ”I don’t want to get up, I want to sleep a little longer.”

Tu Yan tried to look at Chuzheng, but she just pulled the animal skin draped over her waist, covering her head.

Tu Yan was stunned for a moment.

”Then... sleep a little longer.”

Tu Yan stood up and left.

At the doorway, he turned back to glance at the figure on the bed, his hand tightening slightly on the doorframe.

At noon, Tu Yan prepared the meal as Chuzheng had done before and brought it to her.

Chuzheng still paid him no mind, her voice even more impatient than before.

Tu Yan silently put down the food.

They were currently living on a mountain, with a marketplace just below; from there, they could clearly see the market.

Staring at the market below the mountain, Tu Yan appeared somewhat lost in thought.

For the next two days, Chuzheng was very impatient with him and wouldn’t talk, even when she was up.

Before, without him needing to say anything, Chuzheng would come over sullenly at night and claim her spot, insisting he revert to his true form to hold her.

These days, she stayed by herself on her side.

”Little Phoenix, did I do something wrong?”

Tu Yan crouched beside Chuzheng, asking cautiously.

”No.”

”Then why won’t you talk to me?”

”Did I?” Chuzheng looked serious. ”When did I ever not talk to you?”

”Then can I sleep with you tonight?”

”It’s hot, no.”

Chuzheng refused him decisively.

Tu Yan: ”...”

Tu Yan didn’t press on, his eyelashes lowering, casting shadows on his eyes.

He squatted beside Chuzheng for a moment, then silently got up and left.

-

Li Zhang’s massive body silently landed behind Tu Yan.

”Li Zhang.”

Without turning his head, Tu Yan called out calmly.

Li Zhang withdrew his paws sheepishly and lay next to Tu Yan.

”What are you doing sitting here? Didn’t you go do something with your little bird?”

Tu Yan furrowed his brow lightly.

”What’s wrong? Did you argue?” Li Zhang nudged him with his paw. ”How long has it been, and you’re already having conflicts? I told you, Divine Beasts and Fierce Beasts can never be together; your species are too different...”

Tu Yan: ”Didn’t argue.”

”Then what’s with the long face?”

Li Zhang’s tail lazily swayed as he rested his chin on his paw, looking leisurely.

”...” Tu Yan almost wished they had argued.

But Chuzheng ignored him.

It seemed...

Like she was irritated with him.

He didn’t like this feeling, as if there was a wad of cotton blocking his heart.

Tu Yan glanced at Li Zhang and voiced his doubts.

Li Zhang snorted lightly, ”I told you, you won’t last long.”

Tu Yan felt discussing this with Li Zhang was a waste of time.

”If you’re only here to make sarcastic comments, you can leave now.”

Li Zhang: ”...”

Though warned, Li Zhang continued.

”Why would a bird like her, beautiful and powerful, waste time with you? There are so many beasts in the Prehistoric Era waiting for her to choose.”

In the Prehistoric Era, regardless of gender, as long as a beast had the ability, they could choose partners and change them at will.

Tu Yan’s face darkened further.

He got up to leave.

”Hey, I’ve got something to tell you.”

Tu Yan paused, ”What is it?”

If it wasn’t important, Li Zhang wouldn’t have come all the way here just to find him.

Li Zhang’s eyes turned serious, ”The curse within you has been lifted, right?”

”Yes.”

”Then the curse within Yuan Ning should be lifted too.”

”Wasn’t he with you?”

”He ran away.”

Tu Yan’s gloomy gaze swept over.

”Don’t look at me like that, I don’t even know how that guy escaped.”

Li Zhang was a bit frustrated talking about it.

He believed that with his arrangements, Yuan Ning couldn’t escape.

But the problem was, he did!

”Yuan Ning has colluded with those guys from the south, pretending to aim at eradicating you. I think they want to start a war.”

Yuan Ning couldn’t do it on his own.

The big beasts from the south all had grudges with Tu Yan, and Yuan Ning’s alliance with them surely had ulterior motives.

”Got it.”

-

Li Zhang had only come to deliver a message to Tu Yan and soon left.

The matter with Yuan Ning required discussion with Chuzheng.

Yet for the past days, Tu Yan wasn’t sure how to communicate with Chuzheng.

Was it, as Li Zhang said, that she had grown tired of him?

Tu Yan struggled over it for several days.

”Tu Yan, come here.”

That morning, Chuzheng suddenly called him over.

”Little Phoenix.” Tu Yan’s face was also set, those eyes that had cleared from most of the gloom now clouded once again. ”What’s up?”

Chuzheng wrapped her arm around his neck, forcing Tu Yan to bend down. He thought she was going to speak to him, but unexpectedly, she kissed him directly.

Not even leaving him time to brace himself, she dove right in.

Chuzheng comfortably kissed him for a while, then gleefully jumped off the bed.

Tu Yan touched his lips, glancing at her with an unreadable expression.

Together today, she seemed...

In a good mood?

Chuzheng indeed was less impatient than the previous days. By night, she willingly came over to sleep with him, solidifying Tu Yan’s thoughts.

What happened over the past few days?

”Little Phoenix, there’s something I want to talk to you about.”

Chuzheng lay on him, ”Hmm?”

”It’s about Yuan Ning.”

”He’s not dead yet?” This mongrel sure knows how to survive! Is he cheating!?

”...” Tu Yan detected the regret in Chuzheng’s tone and fell silent for a moment. ”Yuan Ning has joined forces with the Southern Fierce Beasts and launched a war, expanding their forces now.”

Chuzheng paused, propping herself up on his chest, ”He wants to fight?”

If only it were just a fight.

From the current situation, even though Yuan Ning claimed his goal was to remove Tu Yan as a threat to the Prehistoric Era, his actions clearly aimed to incite a war throughout the Prehistoric Era.

Rumors were already spreading everywhere.

Many beasts in the Prehistoric Era were indeed warlike.

Many who had suffered under Tu Yan joined Yuan Ning.

It wouldn’t be long before Yuan Ning could gather a formidable army.

After listening to Tu Yan’s words, Chuzheng lay back down sluggishly and said, ”I’ll go capture him and... just give him a beating.” She mustn’t finish him off.

Tu Yan: ”??”

”Tu Yan, can you become bigger?” Chuzheng asked a question that caught Tu Yan off guard.

”I can...” Tu Yan replied instinctively.

”Oh.” Now, how can I coolly and nonchalantly get him to turn big and have a roll on the ground? How troubling.

In the corner of Chuzheng’s mind, a little figure squatted, drawing circles.

Tu Yan, having his attention diverted, realized and returned to the topic, ”Little Phoenix, we were just talking about Yuan Ning...”

”I’m so sleepy.” Chuzheng hugged his neck, ”Don’t make noise, let’s sleep.”

Tu Yan: ”...”
