Transmigration: The Evil Mother-In-Law Is Actually Innocent!

Chapter 1622: Chapter 1622: Bold

Yu Yi’s eyes turned red, “Yes.”

Zhulan was just about to speak again when Steward Ding personally came over, “Second Young Master Yu has arrived.”

Zhulan didn’t hold back anymore, “Please bring Second Young Master Yu over.”

Second Young Master Yu arrived quickly, his face reddening. Even though they were engaged, Second Young Master Yu had never visited his fiancée’s courtyard before. He avoided looking around and entered with his head lowered, “Yu Yueyang greets the Old Madam.”

Zhulan was quite fond of this future grandson-in-law, “Sit.”

Yu Yueyang obediently sat down and said, “I must return to my hometown to visit my grandmother, and it’s on the same route as Yu Yi. I’ll come to the Hou Residence early the day after tomorrow to travel together.”

After speaking, Yu Yueyang’s ears turned red again.

Zhulan looked at Yu Yi, who appeared surprised, as it seemed Yu Yueyang hadn’t informed Yu Yi beforehand. His thoughtfulness regarding Yu Yi’s journey was quite rare.

Zhulan thought about the Prefecture City where the Yu family was located, only two provinces away from Ningzhou Province. Traveling by water wasn’t too far; it was quite a coincidence.

Yu Yueyang was nervous, stealing a glance at his fiancée and meeting her smiling eyes. His previously pink ears turned red again.

Zhulan’s old heart, “Traveling together is good for mutual support; I’ll trouble you to take care of things then.”

Yu Yueyang hastily shook his head, having already understood the arrangements of the Hou Residence, where there would be fifteen guards, all highly skilled, “It should be me troubling the Hou Residence.”

Zhulan looked at Yu Yueyang, whose appearance was misleading. From his appearance, he seemed like an obedient child, but in action, he was bold. She felt that he would definitely first go to Ningzhou Province. Her third son would suddenly see his future son-in-law; she wondered what his reaction would be, a shame she wouldn’t witness it.

In the blink of an eye, the day for Yu Yi and the others to set off arrived. There were fifteen guards, plus maidservants, old maidservants, and young servants. The entourage, excluding the main family, consisted of thirty people.

Yu Yueyang also brought six guards and two young servants, making the entourage quite large.

Zhulan sent Yu Yi and the others off on the carriage. Elder Zhou was to escort the children to the city gates. Even after the entourage had traveled far, Zhulan hadn’t returned to her courtyard.

Lady Li felt the wind was strong today, “Mother, let’s return to the courtyard.”

Zhulan, “Ah, Yu Yi grew up before my eyes, and now that she has just left, I can’t bear it.”

Lady Li, “They will return very soon.”

Zhulan turned around, “No more watching, let’s go back.”

Half an hour later, the carriage left the capital. Elder Zhou patted his son’s shoulder, “Take care of your sister and brother.”

Ming Hui, “Father, don’t worry.”

Elder Zhou lowered his voice, “Keep an eye on Second Young Master Yu; this young man is quite bold.”

Ming Hui nodded, “I will, Father.”

Elder Zhou loosened his money pouch and handed it to his son, “This is your father’s private stash; take it all and don’t shortchange yourself.”

Ming Hui’s eyes widened, “You have a private stash?”

His father was quite impressive!

Elder Zhou’s face turned unnatural, “If you don’t want it, give it back.”

Ming Hui deftly tucked it into his sleeve, “Father, you can head back.”

The convoy set off again, Elder Zhou chuckled softly, thinking if he hadn’t been bound, he also wished to visit Ningzhou Province.

Ming Hui returned to the carriage and spoke to Ming Ling, “Guess how much private money Uncle has?”

Ming Ling, “Uncle has private money?”

“I was surprised too; my mother is very strict!”

The money pouch was already open, containing a one hundred tael silver note and more than a dozen broken silver pieces.

Ming Hui, “He saved up quite a bit.”

Ming Ling asked, “Will you tell Aunt?”

“No.”

Ming Ling didn’t believe it; Brother Ming Hui was always up to something. He thought Uncle was too pitiful.

The next day, Xue Han brought Lin Xi back to the Hou Residence. As soon as Xue Han entered, he delivered big news, “Princess Zhenyue’s prince consort has been chosen.”

Zhulan was curious, “From which family?”

Xue Han, “From a noble family in the south, who passed the degree and will stay in the capital in the future.”

Upon hearing this, Zhulan’s gaze wandered, feeling it was Shu Ren’s doing; the Emperor still valued her words as a mother-in-law.

Xue Han looked at his mother, puzzled, “Mother, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing, I was just surprised.”

Xue Han, “I was surprised too. I thought it would be from a family in the capital.”

Zhulan changed the topic, “I’ve heard recently that the Empress is in better health?”

Xue Han nodded, “She looks much better. With the weather warming up, the Empress now visits the garden several times a week.”

Zhulan asked, “And the little princess?”

Xue Han spoke hesitantly, “The little princess is raised by Mother Empress’s side.”

All the maidservants in Zhulan’s house left, and Zhulan still spoke in a lowered voice, “The Empress doesn’t want to?”

She left the word “raise” unspoken.

Xue Han shook his head, “The Empress wants to bring the princess back, but Mother Empress hasn’t allowed it. Mother Empress privately told me that if the Empress regrets once, she could regret a second time. Mother Empress doesn’t want the little princess to be hurt, and finally discussed leaving her with the Emperor.”

Zhulan admitted, “The Empress Dowager’s concerns are valid.”

Xue Han sighed, “The little princess visits the Empress chamber to pay respects daily. The Empress wants to compensate, but it’s too late. Don’t be deceived by children’s young age; they are the most sensitive. The Empress was so good to the little princess initially, but her severe neglect during illness caused great harm.”

Zhulan looked at Lin Xi, “Is no one asking about Lin Xi’s situation?”

Xue Han laughed out loud, “They’ve tried to test my intentions, and even the Prince’s. The Prince wishes he could put up a sign at the entrance of the Prince’s manor stating that Commandery Princess Lin Xi is not engaged.”

Zhulan laughed and mentioned Ming Rui, “Ming Rui initially hoped for a daughter, but then reconsidered, thinking it’s better to have a son as daughters marry off.”

Xue Han, “Counting the days, Lin Qing is due any day.”

“Indeed.”

Qing Xue entered, “A maid from the second wife reported that labor has started.”

Zhulan responded upon hearing this, “What a coincidence.”

Xue Han asked, “Mother, will you go over?”

Zhulan thought for a moment, “I’ll go have a look.”

This was the first grandchild for the second wife; she should go see.

Xue Han helped her mother up, “I came at a good time today; this child and I are fated. I want to see if it’s a daughter or a son.”

Lin Xi was too young to be suitable for going over; she headed to the fourth wife to find Yu Wen.

In the second house, Miss Zhao was attentive and had arranged everything properly. Ming Rui waited outside, “Grandmother, Aunt.”

Among Zhulan’s many grandsons, Ming Rui was the most meticulous, which showed in his care for his wife. Knowing Lin Qing was due, he hadn’t left home, guarding Lin Qing every day.

Zhulan asked Zhao, “What did the midwife say?”

Zhao smiled, “She said the fetal position is correct, and the child is not too big, so she won’t suffer much.”

Having given birth to several children and experienced difficult labor, with Lin Qing’s first pregnancy, she was exceptionally attentive.

Zhulan patted Zhao’s hand after hearing this, “Thank you for your hard work.”

Since Lin Qing became pregnant, Zhao has been personally involved, and Zhulan has witnessed this. Zhao is indeed a good mother-in-law.

Zhulan and Xue Han sat down, Xue Han smiled, “Today’s weather is good; this child is fortunate.”

In Zhao’s heart, her sister-in-law had great fortune. Hearing her say this, Zhao believed, “Let’s hope your propitious words come true.”

Indeed, this child was fortunate. Lin Qing was sent to the delivery room over two hours, and the baby was born smoothly. Lin Qing hadn’t suffered much and even had the energy to see the baby.

Ming Rui held his daughter in his arms, feeling incredibly soft inside, muttering, “In the future, whoever wants to marry you, dad will thoroughly vet them.”

Zhulan saw Zhao genuinely delighted, and her smile deepened after hearing Ming Rui’s words, “You will be busy then; this child has taken both your and Lin Qing’s best features.”
