Transmigration: The Evil Mother-In-Law Is Actually Innocent!

Chapter 312: Chapter 312 Pitfall Dad_1

After dinner time had passed, Zhou Shuren and Big Zhou hadn’t returned home. Zhulan knew Zhou Shuren wouldn’t be coming back for dinner; she found herself missing cellphones again. How convenient it would have been to get notifications. In this darn ancient era, you had to wait until the food got cold before you could be sure someone wasn’t coming back.

Zhulan gestured for Lady Li to reheat the soup. They hadn’t prepared many dishes that day: three dishes and one soup. The soup was a stewed crucian carp soup, which they’d made without salt for Xue Mei, and they brought two large pots of it to the table.

After dinner, Zhulan saw Ming Teng reluctant to leave. ”Ming Teng, do you miss Daddy?”

Ming Teng, ”......I miss Grandpa.”

Yu Lu uncovered her second brother’s real motive, ”When Grandpa left, he said he would take Second Brother horse riding when he came back.”

Zhulan understood—the little guy was disappointed; he had been thinking about horse riding all this time. ”Grandpa is coming back late today. Let’s wait for tomorrow; I’ll take you horse riding then.”

”Grandma, you’re not going to lie to me too, are you?”

”Of course not. When has Grandma ever broken her word?”

Ming Teng smiled with his eyes, ”Grandpa listens to Grandma. Whatever Grandma says, Grandpa will definitely listen.”

He was so naïve, always trying to please Grandpa. How could he forget that Grandma was the one whose word really counted!

Just as Zhou Shuren walked in, he heard this remark, ”You seem to know quite a bit.”

Ming Teng tilted his head proudly. ”My mom and dad said that in the house, the person Grandpa is most afraid of is Grandma. Pleasing Grandma is even more useful than pleasing Grandpa!”

Big Zhou nearly tripped, ”......”

This little rascal is a traitor!

Zhulan laughed softly, ”What else did your mom and dad say?”

Ming Teng suddenly felt that something wasn’t quite right; it wasn’t Grandma who had responded to his previous remark. He turned around hastily, his eyes widened. Grandpa was back. Oh no, ”Grandpa, you’re back! Are you tired, Grandpa? Let me rub your legs.”

Zhou Shuren squinted, ”Tell Grandpa, what else did your mom and dad say?”

Big Zhou was on tenterhooks, and Mingyun was speechless with his little brother. This kid was boastful and always managed to reveal the secrets of their mom and dad!

Ming Teng closed his mouth tightly; he felt like he was about to get a thrashing!

Zhulan tugged at Zhou Shuren’s sleeve, ”Enough, Grandpa is just teasing you. It’s getting late; hurry back now!”

Ming Teng bolted—he was afraid Dad would catch him and give him a beating.

Big Zhou wanted to make an escape like his son as well, but with Dad watching him, he didn’t dare. ”Dad!”

Zhou Shuren asked expressionlessly, ”What have you been whispering about behind our backs?”

Zhulan let go of Zhou Shuren’s sleeve; watching drama after dinner helped with digestion.

Big Zhou, ”....”

He couldn’t outdo his eldest son, and now he was even losing out to his youngest son? Mom couldn’t just support her grandson and neglect her son, could she?

Mingyun looked at the ground; his shoes looked good that day. Who would have thought that Grandpa and Grandma liked mom and dad so much because they were so amusing!

Seeing there was no escape, Big Zhou finally stuttered, ”We didn’t say much. Dad, I didn’t say anything you told me to keep quiet about; really, I didn’t say anything.”

Zhulan raised an eyebrow, ”What did Dad tell you to keep quiet about?”

There was definitely something going on here!

Big Zhou had sweat on his forehead now. It seemed he’d said something he shouldn’t have. He could feel Dad’s cold gaze. Uh oh, he thought he was in trouble!

Zhou Shuren coughed, ”It’s late. Let’s go and rest.”

Zhulan squinted, very good, she’d ask more later.

After Grandpa and Grandma had left, Mingyun picked up his little sister and spoke to their bowed father, ”Dad, let’s head back to our courtyard.”

Big Zhou let out a breath of relief. ”Son, I have a feeling Grandpa will discipline me tomorrow.”

Mingyun, ”.... Go to bed early and get some good rest at least.”

Big Zhou, ”......”

That’s his own son, no doubt!

Yu Lu covered her eyes with her chubby hands; she felt sorry for Dad, he seemed so miserable!

When Zhulan returned to her room, she asked, ”What did you tell Big Zhou to keep quiet about?”

”You probably don’t want to know.”

”Hmm?”

Zhou Shuren leaned close to Zhulan’s ear and told her what he had done that Big Zhou had witnessed, causing Zhulan’s ears to turn red immediately. Grinding her teeth, she said, ”Big Zhou needs disciplining, and I support you in disciplining him!”

Zhou Shuren laughed heartily, ”Good.”
