Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1632: Chapter 1631: So Much Time Together

Meng Ke’s expression changed slightly.

Seeing Bai Xiaoxiao turn around, pulling out her phone and walking out of the room, she tightened her grip on the necklace box.

Once Bai Xiaoxiao left the room, he put the necklace back in the box.

Outside the door, Bai Xiaoxiao’s body stiffened slightly upon seeing the message.

The message was actually from Luo Haofeng. She didn’t open it but instinctively turned to look at Meng Ke inside the room.

The other party turned around to put the box away.

She pursed her lips and exhaled lightly.

“Xiaoxiao, is it because of what Yao Yao just said that you don’t want to accept the gift?”

Meng Ke put the box away and came out of the room, while Bai Xiaoxiao was waiting for him in the hallway.

Hearing his apology, Bai Xiaoxiao not only didn’t deny it but also laughed, “Your cousin’s words just reminded me.”

Meng Ke frowned, staring at her closely, “Are you angry?”

“I’m not angry.”

Bai Xiaoxiao smiled warmly, looking straight into Meng Ke’s eyes, and said openly, “Even though we are boyfriend and girlfriend, if we can avoid involving money, it’s better not to.”

“Xiaoxiao!”

Meng Ke called out, not knowing what to say.

Bai Xiaoxiao chuckled lightly, saying in a jaunty tone, “Don’t frown at me, and don’t blame me for not wanting your gift; it’s just, your gift is too expensive.”

“I don’t want to wear that necklace and be asked everywhere I go, ‘Bai Xiaoxiao, did your boyfriend give you this? Are you with your boyfriend for money?ʼ”

The last sentence, she deliberately changed her voice, mimicking Li Shi Yao’s tone and expression just now.

Meng Ke was amused by her words despite himself.

Realizing that no matter what he said, Bai Xiaoxiao wouldn’t change her mind.

He sighed lightly, “If I had known earlier, I would have taped Yao Yao’s mouth shut as soon as I came back. It’s not too late now; if she says something reckless again and upsets you, I’ll truly regret it deeply.”

“No, don’t you dare harm me.”

Bai Xiaoxiao shook her head and waved her hands in protest, acting scared, “If you really did that, wouldn’t your cousin hate me to death?”

Meng Ke was amused by her antics.

He held Bai Xiaoxiao’s hands up before him indulgently and said, “I’m just joking with you. Even if I wanted to seal her mouth, I’d wait until you were gone.”

With her hands caught by him, Bai Xiaoxiao’s eyes flickered, her smile a bit unnatural, “Let’s go downstairs.”

Meng Ke released one of her hands, but the other he seemed unwilling to let go.

“Xiaoxiao, when you were abroad, our time together was very limited. But now that you’re back, from now on, we’ll have plenty of time together.”

Meng Ke’s voice was gentle, yet his tone was very earnest.

Bai Xiaoxiao looked at him, a bit puzzled.

His seriousness left her unsure how to respond.

Just like Meng Ke said, before when she was abroad, even though she agreed to be his girlfriend, they were separated by the Pacific Ocean, giving them little opportunity to be together.

Now that she’s returned home.

As long as she remains Meng Ke’s girlfriend, they will often be together, face to face like this, with many opportunities to hold hands with him.

Upon thinking about this, Bai Xiaoxiao lowered her gaze, her eyes falling on his hand holding hers.

“Xiaoxiao.”

Nearby, Meng Ke’s voice softly reached her ears.

Bai Xiaoxiao looked up at him.

“Could you promise me something?” Meng Ke gazed at her with a smile, his voice warm and gentle.

Bai Xiaoxiao blinked, “What is it?”

“Next time I hold your hand, relax a bit, don’t be nervous or scared.”

Being told this, Bai Xiaoxiao’s face flushed slightly with embarrassment.

Even though she had been abroad for a few years and had previously had intimate interactions with men, changing partners made it hard to act naturally and casually.

However, Meng Ke’s request wasn’t much.

As lovers, it’s perfectly normal for a man to hold his girlfriend’s hand.

Not just holding hands, in the future they might hug, kiss, or even share a bed.

“Cousin, Cousin-in-law, it’s time to eat.”

Li Shi Yao’s voice suddenly came from the stairwell.

Upon hearing the voice, Bai Xiaoxiao instinctively withdrew her hand from Meng Ke’s grasp.

Meng Ke’s palm felt empty, and a slight flash of disappointment crossed his eyes.

Yet, the smile on his face remained, as he said gently, “Let’s go, time to eat downstairs.”

It’s unknown if Li Shi Yao had received some education earlier, but she was waiting in the stairwell for Meng Ke and Bai Xiaoxiao to pass by.

When they reached her, she warmly said, “Cousin-in-law, I have something to tell you alone.”

“Yao Yao, what do you want to say to Xiaoxiao?”

Meng Ke frowned uneasily.

Fearing that Li Shi Yao might say something to offend Xiaoxiao again.

Bai Xiaoxiao nodded, and Li Shi Yao pushed Meng Ke, urging him to head downstairs first.

After Meng Ke went downstairs, Li Shi Yao apologized to Bai Xiaoxiao, “Cousin-in-law, my earlier words were thoughtless. Please, don’t hold it against me. I apologize!”

After speaking, she sincerely bowed.

Bai Xiaoxiao shook her head lightly, “I didn’t take it to heart, you don’t need to apologize.”

“Really?”

Li Shi Yao’s eyes lit up with joy as she looked at Bai Xiaoxiao.

Bai Xiaoxiao nodded lightly.

Li Shi Yao grabbed her hand, “Cousin-in-law, you’re the most beautiful and elegant woman I’ve ever seen, really. I used to wonder why my cousin loved you so much, but seeing you today, I finally understand.”

Whether her words came from the heart or were just flattery was unclear.

Bai Xiaoxiao responded with a smile, “Thank you for the compliment. You can call me Sister Xiaoxiao in the future. Your cousin and I aren’t married yet.”

After thinking it over, Bai Xiaoxiao decided to correct her way of address.

Li Shi Yao hesitated for a moment, then nodded, “Okay, I’ll call you Sister Xiaoxiao from now on. Sister Xiaoxiao, when are you and my cousin getting married?”

“Let’s go downstairs to eat, we don’t want to keep everyone waiting.”

Bai Xiaoxiao smiled at her before turning to go downstairs.

Without Li Shi Yao’s tactless comments, the Meng family’s elders didn’t press Bai Xiaoxiao and Meng Ke about their marriage, making the meal quite enjoyable.

Bai Xiaoxiao was treated as an honored guest, with everyone warmly attending to her.

Meng Ke was especially considerate, picking food for her.

“Xiaoxiao, eat more.”

Li Shi Yao teased, “Cousin, you’re so good to Sister Xiaoxiao, you make me want to find a boyfriend too.”

“Focus on eating and studying well, never mind the dating.”

Li Shi Yao’s words earned her mother’s chiding, making her pout, “Mom, if I’m not allowed to date in college, don’t complain if I can’t get married after graduation.”

“If you were as capable as your Sister Xiaoxiao, I wouldn’t worry about you not marrying.”

Meng Ke pretended to be displeased as he refuted, “Aunt, I have to correct you. Being capable and dating or marrying aren’t mutually exclusive. Yao Yao is now at an age where she can date, as long as she chooses wisely.”

“Cousin is the best. Cousin, can I work at your company? I don’t need a high salary, just pocket money would be fine.”

As she spoke, Li Shi Yao warmly put a shrimp into Bai Xiaoxiao’s bowl.
