Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 576: Chance Encounter 575

Kangning Hospital

The surgery for Xiao Yuting’s mother was very successful.

Bai Xiaoxiao and Mother Bai came to visit. She deliberately chatted with Mother Bai, letting Xiao Yuting accompany Bai Xiaoxiao for a walk outside to get some fresh air.

“Xiaoxiao, let’s go. The weather is good today, let’s go out and bask in the sun.”

Xiao Yuting placed back the cup with which he fed his mother water on the bedside table, turned his head, and looked at Bai Xiaoxiao with an expectant look.

Bai Xiaoxiao instinctively wanted to refuse, but unexpectedly, Mother Bai also chimed in, “Xiaoxiao, go take a walk with Ah Ting. I’ll chat with your auntie.”

As they stepped out of the ward, Bai Xiaoxiao said in a soft voice, “You can go about your business, don’t mind me. I am going to look for Doctor Gu.”

“I’ll come with you.”

Xiao Yuting’s reply without thinking made Bai Xiaoxiao frown slightly.

Looking at Xiao Yuting’s smiling eyes, she began to doubt. Was this really the arrogant Xiao Family Crown Prince who never used to put her in his eyes?

Why does he seem like a different person now?

Of course, his change only applied to her. Even though they didn’t meet often after breaking up, from the way he handled others in these past few days, he still had his arrogant and indifferent attitude.

It’s just that he no longer seemed to treat her as he did before.

If this had happened to the Bai Xiaoxiao of the past, she would have certainly been overjoyed. However, the Bai Xiaoxiao of now felt nothing at all. Out of courtesy, she gave a polite smile and declined, “It’s not necessary. I need to talk to Doctor Gu about something.”

A hint of hesitation flashed in Xiao Yuting’s eyes. It seemed like he wasn’t eager to let her go alone, but he didn’t want to upset her either, so he had to agree, “Alright then.”

Wen Ran went to Gu Kai’s office, raising her hand to knock on the door.

After a moment, the office door was opened from the inside. The person standing in the door wasn’t Gu Kai, but Luo Haofeng.

When their eyes met, a flash of surprise flickered in Luo Haofeng’s captivating eyes, as if he was taken aback by her presence.

Bai Xiaoxiao also looked surprised. She glanced past him at Qin Mu, who was sitting on the sofa, and asked awkwardly, “Is Doctor Gu not here?”

Luo Haofeng’s handsome face changed slightly, then quickly returned to normal. He stepped aside to let her in, “Ah Kai is in the operating room, he will be back soon. You can come in and wait.”

Bai Xiaoxiao looked at him stepping aside, and thought that if she left now, she would appear pretentious. He might even think that she didn’t want to wait because of him.

“Ah Kai’s operation won’t take long. We’re waiting for him too. Come and sit.”

On the sofa, Qin Mu held a cup in both hands, looked at her indifferently, and then casually glanced at Luo Haofeng before speaking calmly.

Bai Xiaoxiao smiled at Qin Mu, entered the office, and Luo Haofeng, seeing her enter, closed the door and followed her to the sofa. Instead of sitting down immediately, he asked like a host, “What would you like to drink? Coffee, tea, or a soft drink?”

“No need, I’m not thirsty.”

Bai Xiaoxiao shook her head and sat down on the single sofa.

Luo Haofeng retook his previous seat.

Before Bai Xiaoxiao’s arrival, Luo Haofeng was discussing MS Group’s affairs with Qin Mu. Having an extra person now made their previous topic inappropriate. For a moment, no one knew what to say, and the atmosphere became slightly awkward.

Qin Mu looked at the usually articulate Luo Haofeng. He saw Luo Haofeng reclining lazily on the sofa with a phone in his hand, either playing with it or reading something.

His eyebrows furrowed slightly, and he slowly said, “Ah Feng, why don’t you give Mo Xiuchen a call, ask about his situation.”

“Now?”

Luo Haofeng looked up, a surprised look on his face as he looked at Qin Mu.

It’s the middle of the night in D Country. Giving Mo Xiuchen a call now, would his response not be unpleasant?

Qin Mu gave him a stern look. Bai Xiaoxiao, who was sitting across them, decided to ask, “Did Mo Xiuchen really resign from his position as CEO of the MS Group?”

Qin Mu didn’t actually want Luo Haofeng to make the call; he was just trying to come up with a topic to talk about.

He and Bai Xiaoxiao were not familiar. Luo Haofeng and Bai Xiaoxiao used to be, but now their relationship had turned into this.

Upon hearing Bai Xiaoxiao’s question, instead of replying, Qin Mu cast a casual glance at Luo Haofeng. Luo Haofeng, meeting his gaze, looked at Bai Xiaoxiao with his enchanting eyes.

Her eyes were clear and casual. She held his gaze without seeming unnatural, and there was no ripple in the depths of her eyes. A thought crossed his mind, so he said, “Yes, it’s true. Not only has Xiuchen resigned, but so have Ah Mu and I. We’re planning to get together with Ah Kai once more before we leave.”

Bai Xiaoxiao looked surprised, her eyes widened. After glancing at Qin Mu, she looked back at Luo Haofeng, “Both of you resigned?”

Qin Mu smiled faintly, his tone very calm, “Yes, we stayed in G City for Xiuchen. Now that he’s gone, we no longer have a reason to stay. Coincidently, Ah Feng’s family is urging him to return home to take over the company, so we’re planning to head home tomorrow.”

He specifically mentioned Luo Haofeng returning to take over his family company while subtly observing any changes in Bai Xiaoxiao’s expression.

Bai Xiaoxiao felt a hint of queerness stirring inside her. It was indescribable. It felt like constriction, and a hint of pain.

There was a faint bitter taste as well. Unknowingly, her two hands, resting on her legs, were now crossed and clenched together.

The scene of him picking her up from the car in the early morning, his eyes filled with concern and worry, asking anxiously if she was hurt, came to her mind. Suddenly, she felt a slight discomfort in her chest.

The timing of Qin Mu’s cellphone ringing was impeccable. The moment it rang, he stood up and said, “Chat amongst yourselves, I need to take a call.”

He picked up his cell phone, swiftly left the office, and thoughtfully closed the door, leaving only Luo Haofeng and Bai Xiaoxiao behind.

The call was from his grandfather. He answered the call and asked straightforwardly, “Dad, do you have a result yet?”

“You can’t expect it to be so quick. I’m calling to tell you that I’ve arranged for people to start investigating. A specialized team is going to G City. Don’t interfere.”

A deep light flashed in Qin Mu’s eyes. He looked up at the white ceiling before saying, “I called you because I do not intend to interfere.”

“When are you coming back?”

His grandfather’s voice sounded somewhat heavy on the other end.

Over the years, he had consistently defied his arrangements. Previously, he claimed it was for Xiuchen, to help him get revenge.

Now that Xiuchen had left MS Group, he no longer had an excuse.

“I’ll go back in a few days, in time for Mom’s birthday.”

Qin Mu pondered for a moment, then gave a specific timeframe. His mother’s birthday was one week away.

He wanted to stay in G City a bit longer because he could get first-hand information on the situation with MS Group and the recent development with Wen Ran. If he went back home, it would be different.
