Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 462: 461 Rescued

After hearing Gu Kai’s words, Luo Haofeng slid into the back seat following him, leaning over to fasten Bai Xiaoxiao’s seatbelt. His breath lingered at her nose, her heartbeat slightly erratic. She tensed slightly but did not resist.

Gu Kai gave another command to Zhang Ergou at his side before he turned around and returned to the car.

He looked at Bai Xiaoxiao in the back seat through the rear-view mirror, then turned his head to ask, “Xiaoxiao, your leg, it’s not injured again, is it?”

If it was injured a second time, the consequences would be severe.

Judging from her condition, it didn’t seem like her leg was injured. It was just a bump on her forehead.

Bai Xiaoxiao shook her head and said softly, “My leg is fine, it just hurts a bit from being bound for too long.”

Gu Kai let out a relieved chuckle, “That’s good, there’s no second injury. But just in case, we should head back to the hospital to get you checked. Ah Feng, call Xiaoxiao’s parents and Wen Jin to let them know Xiaoixao is safe now, so they won’t worry.”

After saying this, he started up the car.

Luo Haofeng nodded and said ‘OK’, yet his peach blossom eyes were fixated on Bai Xiaoxiao. Since carrying her off the car, he had never taken his eyes off her.

Bai Xiaoxiao felt a bit unnatural under his gaze. Her long eyelashes fluttered as she softly said, “Can I borrow your phone to call my parents? Hearing my voice would help them relax.”

Luo Haofeng took out his phone, but instead of passing it to Bai Xiaoxiao, he dialed Mr. Bai’s number first. After it connected, he handed the phone to her.

After the phone rang twice, Mr. Bai’s voice came through. Whether it was due to not sleeping for a whole night or being abruptly awakened, he answered the phone very quickly.

“Dad, it’s me.”

Hearing her father’s voice, Bai Xiaoxiao’s eyes suddenly moistened. Recalling that when Xiao Wenqing had called her dad the day before and she had heard her mom crying on the phone, and her dad asking Xiao Wenqing how much money he wanted to let her go, she felt a wave of bitterness.

“Xiaoxiao, is that really you? Are you okay now? Where are you? Did they hurt you? Your mom and I are coming to find you…”

Every single sentence from her was accompanied by a long list of questions from Mr. Bai.

The questions were filled with excitement, joy, and worry. Bai Xiaoxiao pursed her lips tightly and before she could even answer, her mother had grabbed the phone and hurriedly cried out, “Xiaoxiao, is that really you? Where are you?”

“Mom, it’s really me. I’m with Gu Kai and Luo Haofeng now. They rescued me, I’m fine.”

“Uncle, Auntie, we are on our way back to the hospital now. Xiaoxiao’s leg is still recovering, and she was bound for too long. She needs another check-up. You can come to the hospital to see her after dawn.”

Luo Haofeng took the phone from Bai Xiaoxiao and explained to her parents on the other end of the line.

Knowing that Xiaoxiao was not injured and was only going to the hospital for a check-up, her parents felt slightly relieved. They said they would rush to the hospital to see her, then hung up the phone.

The worry of the past several hours could not be fully expressed in a few words over the phone. Until they saw their daughter in person, Mr. and Mrs. Bai would not truly be able to rest easy.

After finishing the call with her parents, just when Luo Haofeng was about to call Wen Jin, his phone rang. It was a call from Wen Jin.

“Ah Feng, I just received a call from Zhixing saying that you and Ah Kai went to pick up Xiaoxiao. Have you picked her up?”

Luo Haofeng’s gaze landed on Bai Xiaoxiao next to him, his voice calm and gentle, “Yes, we’ve got her. We’re on the way to the hospital now.”

“The hospital? Is Xiaoxiao injured?”

Once Wen Jin heard the word “hospital”, his voice instantly grew tense.

“Not really injured. It’s just that her leg hasn’t recovered, and she was tied up for several hours. Ah Kai suggested doing another check-up.”

“How much longer until you get there? I’ll head to the hospital now to wait for you. We’ll talk more once you arrive.”

“Okay!”

After hanging up the Luo Haofeng hung up the phone. Along the way, Qin Mu’s car had caught up. Gu Kai honked at Qin Mu twice but didn’t stop his car. Instead, Qin Mu turned his car around to follow them back to the hospital.

Back at the hospital, Gu Kai performed another check-up on Bai Xiaoxiao. Once he was certain her leg was fine, he felt relieved. But being bound for several hours had taken its toll. Thus, he decided to keep her in the hospital for observation for a few days before releasing her.

Mr. Bai, Mrs. Bai and Wen Jin all arrived at the hospital before they did. Once she was settled in a sickbed, Mrs. Bai immediately held her hand, carefully looking her over, “Xiaoxiao, what happened to your forehead?”

Mr. Bai by her side didn’t speak a word, just watched his daughter with affectionate eyes.

Wen Jin, Gu Kai, Luo Haofeng, and Qin Mu all stood quietly aside. The sickroom, which was not that small, seemed crowded with so many people in it.

“Let’s leave them alone and let Xiaoxiao talk to her parents.”

Seeing Mrs. Bai’s tear-rimmed eyes, Gu Kai suggested this to the others.

Once they left, the sickroom was left with just Mr. and Mrs. Bai. Bai Xiaoxiao nonchalantly said, “Mom, I just accidentally bumped into something and got a lump on my forehead. I’ve already been examined. It’s nothing.”

“How can it be nothing? You have no idea how worried your father and I were after you were kidnapped yesterday. Xiaoxiao, how did Gu Kai and Luo Haofeng rescue you?”

Mrs. Bai raised her hand to wipe her tears.

Mr. Bai wore a faint smile and said, “Xiaoxiao is back and you’re still crying. President Luo told me earlier that Xiaoxiao cleverly used the kidnappers’ phone to call him. They traced the number and found her location. Even if they hadn’t come, Xiaoxiao would have been able to save herself.”

On the way back to the hospital, Bai Xiaoxiao had briefly explained how she managed to untie the ropes while the two kidnappers were sleeping. Then she tried to lure Zhang Ergou onto her side. However, she also thanked them. If it were just her, she might not have been able to persuade Zhang Ergou.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Gu Kai had Zhang Ergou detained first. After checking Bai Xiaoxiao, he would deal with Zhang Ergou.

“Dad, it was Gu Kai and Luo Haofeng, along with the police, who rescued me. If I had been alone, I might not have been able to persuade Zhang Ergou.” Bai Xiaoxiao did not dare to take all the credit for her escape. Before seeing them, she had always been scared.

“Good, good. They saved you. Later on, your dad will properly thank them.” Mr. Bai had a compassionate smile on his face. As long as his daughter was back, everything would be all right.

Outside the sickroom, after they left, Gu Kai, Wen Jin, and Qin Mu went to see Zhang Ergou to ask about the situation. Luo Haofeng was standing alone in the corridor, gazing somberly at the entrance to the sickroom. His mind was adrift.

The door to the sickroom opened. Mr. Bai stepped out and Luo Haofeng collected his scattered thoughts.

“President Luo, thank you for saving Xiaoxiao.” Mr. Bai approached Luo Haofeng and sincerely expressed his gratitude.
