Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence

Chapter 707: Chapter 496: Lightning VS Ice Elemental Lord

Silence fell in the study.

Count Alan looked at his son.

He had always thought that this son of his was merely a talented Knight.

He never expected his son’s political instincts to be so sharp.

”Then... then what you mean is...”

Count Alan’s voice was a little hoarse.

”We can only... endure it?”

”No, Father,”

Ryo explained.

”We won’t just endure it.”

”We will... beat him at his own game.”

He walked over to Count Alan’s side and lowered his voice.

”The Regent wants us to be his attack dog, so that’s what we’ll be.”

”And we’ll be the most ferocious, most vicious one he has!”

”Not only will we win, but we’ll win decisively! We’ll make everyone see that the army of our Eagle Territory is the sharpest sword in the Duchy!”

”As for that Count of Fury...”

A chilling killing intent flashed in Ryo’s eyes.

”Accidents are always bound to happen in war, aren’t they?”

”Since the Count of Fury dared to provoke this conflict, he must pay the price for his actions!”

Count Alan looked at his son, at the ruthless cunning on his face that belied his age, and for a moment, he couldn’t tell if this was a good thing or a bad thing.

But he had to admit, Ryo’s plan had rekindled the hope in his heart, which had been churning with anger.

”Good!”

He slammed his hand on the table.

”We’ll do as you say!”

”Relay my orders! Full mobilization! In three days, we march to the Amber Territory!”

...

「Meanwhile.」

In Nuotao City, which faced the Eagle Territory across the Sunset Canyon.

The Count of Fury, Zachary Winston—a fat, middle-aged man who always wore a kindly smile—was handing an identical order to a guest before him.

The guest was dressed in a black cloak that shrouded his entire body in shadow, concealing his face.

”Your Excellency the envoy, you see, what a mess this has become.”

The Count of Fury’s face was plastered with a helpless smile.

”That brute Alan and I were just having a small squabble. Who would have thought it would alarm His Excellency the Regent.”

”Now look at this. The fight’s off, and I have to travel thousands of miles to that godforsaken place in the northwest to fight a bunch of Vampires to the death.”

As he complained, he cautiously observed the black-robed man’s reaction.

The black-robed man said nothing, merely extending a pale, gaunt hand to take the order.

He glanced at it, then let out a hoarse laugh that sounded like a Night Owl’s hoot.

”Heh heh... Interesting.”

”This Regent of the Thunder Dragon Duchy isn’t a complete fool, after all.”

He tossed the order back onto the table.

”Count of Fury, what is your choice?”

”My choice?”

The smile on the Count of Fury’s face grew even more amiable.

”I will, of course... obey the Regent’s command.”

”I am a loyal subject of the Duchy. Wherever the Regent points, I will strike.”

”Oh?”

The black-robed man sneered and fell silent for a moment.

”Very well.”

He slowly stood up.

”Since you have made your choice, it is time for me to take my leave.”

”Remember, the Divine Lord awaits your good news.”

With that, his figure slowly melted away into thin air, like a candle dissolving on the spot.

The moment the black-robed man vanished, the smile on the Count of Fury’s face disappeared along with him.

A cold light glinted in his eyes, which were narrowed into slits by his fleshy face.

He walked to the window and gazed out at the turbulent sea.

”Raylo...”

”Crimson Bloodline...”

”Heh heh, this is getting more and more interesting.”

He muttered to himself.

...

「The snowstorm blotted out the sky.」

Lead-gray clouds pressed down heavily on the spine of the Black Stone Mountain Range, looking as if they might collapse at any moment.

Billions of snowflakes, swept up by the gales, swarmed like angry white bees, howling as they swept across the vast, rolling Black Stone Mountain Range.

Visibility was less than ten meters; all one could see was a chaotic expanse of white.

A bolt of purple lightning tore through the blizzard.

”ROAR!”

A high-pitched dragon’s cry, mingled with the crack of thunderbolts, exploded amidst the snowstorm.

It was a Giant Dragon a hundred meters long, its entire body covered in deep blue scales. Tiny arcs of purple electricity danced along the edge of each scale.

Every flap of its sky-blotting Dragon Wings caused the surrounding Lightning Element to resonate, instantly vaporizing and annihilating any snowflakes that drew near.

Atop the Giant Dragon’s broad back, a figure stood against the wind, as straight and tall as a pine tree.

Raylo wore a thick, black fur cloak, its hood pulled down low, revealing only his eyes.

”Awoo?”

Coal Ball tilted its little head, its big, dark eyes curiously studying the blizzard all around as a few muffled whimpers escaped its throat.

It was the little one’s first time seeing such a blizzard.

Raylo reached out and gently patted Coal Ball’s fluffy head, his gaze fixed on the depths of the storm.

”We’re almost there,”

he said softly, as if answering Coal Ball, and also as if speaking to himself.

”Lightning, a little faster,”

Raylo said.

”ROAR!”

Lightning let out an excited roar; it seemed to have grown tired of the monotonous flight as well.

Its enormous body shuddered, and the lightning surrounding it suddenly blazed intensely!

BOOM!

A thick purple thunderbolt erupted, instantly clearing all the snow and wind before it.

In the next moment, Lightning’s speed increased by several times over!

It transformed into a true streak of purple light, drawing a long trail of lightning between the gray-white heavens and earth as it sped toward the northernmost tip of the Black Stone Mountain Range—a forbidden, uninhabited zone perennially covered in ice and snow.
