Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence

Chapter 49: Chapter 49: A Visitor from Giant Stone City

Faced with this sudden appearance of an apex predator, the Iron Armor Earth Dragon was terrified, but it didn’t retreat. Instead, it showed a trace of fierce defiance.

Its thick tail whipped about violently, the Bone Hammer at its tip whistling through the air as it warily faced the sky.

Unfortunately, the difference in their Tiers was immense.

The Two-legged Flying Dragon let out a disdainful cry, its diving speed not decreasing in the slightest.

It precisely avoided the swinging tail hammer of the Earth Dragon, descending like a bird of prey on the attack. Its two strong, powerful hind claws glinted coldly as they viciously clawed at the Iron Armor Earth Dragon’s back!

CLANG! CLANG!

The talons scraped against the thick armor, creating a harsh, metallic grinding sound and even sending a few sparks flying!

The Iron Armor Earth Dragon’s vaunted defense, while not immediately torn apart by the Tier Four Two-legged Flying Dragon’s talons, was now marred by several deep claw marks.

AWOO!

The Iron Armor Earth Dragon roared in anger and pain.

It began to struggle violently, its massive body twisting and turning, trying to throw the enemy off its back.

Its thick tail swept around wildly, snapping several small trees and smashing shallow pits into the ground.

But the Two-legged Flying Dragon’s claws were like iron pincers, locked firmly into the gaps of the Earth Dragon’s shell.

No matter how the Earth Dragon struggled, it could not break free.

Then, the Two-legged Flying Dragon flapped its enormous wings, kicking up a fierce gust of wind.

It actually managed to lift the astonishingly heavy Iron Armor Earth Dragon clean off the ground!

ROAR! ROAR!

The Iron Armor Earth Dragon writhed futilely in the air, its limbs flailing as it let out desperate shrieks.

Its massive body seemed somewhat helpless in the grasp of the Two-legged Flying Dragon’s talons.

High in the sky, Raylo, Ed, and the Pegasus Knights were all stunned.

The scene before them was filled with a primitive, violent beauty, but it also sent a shock through their hearts.

The Two-legged Flying Dragon, clutching the desperately struggling Earth Dragon, swiftly ascended, soaring to a height of nearly a hundred meters.

Then, it released its claws!

WHOOSH!

The heavy Iron Armor Earth Dragon plummeted like a meteorite, falling straight toward the valley below!

BOOM!

An earth-shattering boom echoed out, and the entire valley seemed to tremble.

Dust and smoke filled the air on the ground, and shattered rocks flew everywhere.

When the dust settled a little, the once-majestic Iron Armor Earth Dragon was now sprawled on the ground. Its thick Scale Armor was shattered in multiple places, blood gushed out, and its body was twisted at an unnatural angle. It was clearly dead.

After a fall from a hundred meters, not even an Iron Armor Earth Dragon, with its astonishing defensive power, could withstand such a terrifying impact.

The Two-legged Flying Dragon circled once in the sky, letting out a victorious cry.

It dove down again, landing beside the dead Iron Armor Earth Dragon. It nudged the body with its claws, confirming its prey was completely dead.

Then, it once again grabbed the Earth Dragon’s massive corpse with its claws, flapped its wings, and flew toward the distant horizon, soon disappearing into the clouds.

In the valley, only a scene of devastation and the faint smell of blood remained.

Raylo’s party hovered in the air, speechless for a long time.

’The duck was cooked and ready to eat...’

’No, the Magical Beast I had my eye on... just flew away.’

And it had been snatched away in such a shocking manner by a more powerful being.

Ed’s face was a little pale. ”A Tier Four Magical Beast... to think one would appear here...”

This was completely beyond his expectations.

Although Black Stone Territory was on the frontier, its core area was relatively safe. High Tier Magical Beasts usually roamed in the deeper wilderness or more dangerous lands.

Raylo’s expression was also grim.

Previous intelligence reports had mentioned an active Two-legged Flying Dragon in the territory, but he hadn’t expected it to appear today and snatch his quarry right from under his nose.

A Tier Four Magical Beast was not so easily dealt with.

Raylo had no intention of doing so, nor did he currently have the strength to take on this ferocious Two-legged Flying Dragon.

”We’re heading back,” Raylo said.

The party turned around and began their return journey.

The atmosphere on the way back was a bit gloomy.

Lost in thought, he saw the familiar silhouette of Black Stone Town appear on the horizon.

The Pegasus Knights skillfully descended, flying toward the castle square in the center of town.

The moment they landed, Barrett hurried over to greet them.

”My Lord, you’ve returned! Great news!”

Raylo dismounted, handing the reins to a nearby attendant, and looked at Barrett. ”What great news?”

”Just today, following Thor’s promotion to Official Knight, five more Knight Apprentices successfully awakened their Combat Fighting Spirit Seeds and have officially been promoted to Knights!”

This news was like a refreshing spring, instantly washing away the gloom brought on by the Two-legged Flying Dragon.

”Oh?”

Genuine joy appeared in Raylo’s eyes.

”Five of them? Excellent!”

Ed and the other knights also broke into smiles.

Five Official Knights!

For Black Stone Territory, which was currently in desperate need of a strong core force, this was undoubtedly a much-needed shot in the arm.

Every Official Knight meant a substantial increase in the territory’s defensive power.

Raylo immediately ordered, ”Send word. Have all the newly promoted Knights assemble in the castle’s main hall. I want to see them personally.”

”Yes, my Lord!”

「A short while later, in the castle’s main hall.」

Five young men, dressed in brand-new Leather Armor with faces full of youthful excitement, stood somewhat stiffly in a line.

These were the Knight Apprentices who had broken through their bottlenecks and successfully been promoted over the last few days.

Raylo’s gaze swept across the five young faces. He could feel the newly formed, still unstable, but definitely present fluctuations of Fighting Spirit coming from them.

He nodded.

”You have done very well.”

Raylo’s voice echoed clearly throughout the hall.

”Through your own hard work and sweat, you have earned the honor of a Knight. From this day forward, you will become the solid strength that guards this land.”

The five newly promoted Knights puffed out their chests in excitement, their faces flushing red.

”Glory to Black Stone Territory!”

They responded in unison, their voices loud and full of vigor.

Raylo continued, ”As a reward for your successful promotion, and as partners for your future duties, I have decided to bestow upon each of you a warhorse!”

As soon as he finished speaking, the side door of the hall was pulled open, and five warhorses were led in by attendants.

Annihilating the Blood Wolf Corps had added a batch of excellent warhorses and packhorses to Black Stone Territory, instantly making the once-scarce resource of horses abundant.

The eyes of the newly promoted Knights instantly lit up.

They knew better than anyone what a good warhorse meant to a Knight.

”Thank you, my Lord!”

The five of them bowed once more.

Raylo stepped forward and personally handed the reins to each new Knight.

After the award ceremony, Raylo offered a few more words of encouragement to the new Knights before letting them go to get acquainted with their new partners.

「In the following days,」 Black Stone Town returned to its usual peace and bustle.

The small castle was slowly being built and was about to be topped off.

While managing the various affairs of the territory, Raylo did not neglect his own training.

One morning, Raylo was in his study examining a map of Black Stone Territory and planning his next steps for development when a guard’s voice came from outside the door.

”My Lord, an envoy claiming to be from the Lord of Giant Stone City has arrived outside the castle, requesting an audience.”
