Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse

Chapter 4030: Give Everything! I

The instructions were utterly insane, yet she continued with the patience of a teacher explaining something obvious!

”Simply choose an Everything for you to give to this Inevitability, since it wants Everything. And if you know nothing about Everything...” She paused, ensuring he was listening despite the approaching doom. ”I will advise you that a lifeform has many Everythings. If you willingly choose a small part of your Everything to give, that will satisfy an Inevitability.”

The creature drew closer, its form becoming more terrible and more beautiful with proximity.

”If I may advise you,” she added with something that might have been kindness, ”give it your Fear. The entirety of your Fear. Everything of your Fear.”

Noah’s weavings buzzed with warnings.

The massive Inevitability rushed toward him while screeching...a sound that existed in frequencies reality hadn’t authorized.

Its form pulsed with confounding paradoxes that made looking at it directly cause his eyes to buzz!

Every part of his existence screamed at him to resist. To raise the Goad and fight. To activate his return immediately and flee to the safety of his own time!

Every! Part!

But something in the woman’s certainty, in the calm assurance of her words, made him pause.

The massive tentacle-limb of the Inevitability rose above him like judgment preparing to fall. He could feel the weight of its attention, the hunger of its nature, the inevitable pull of its existence.

Noah breathed heavily, feeling his heart beat with rhythm that seemed to echo through the Earliest Folds themselves.

Then, with deliberation that transcended courage, he breathed out.

”Fear,” he said, his voice steady despite what he was attempting. ”You can have Everything of my Fear.”

BOOM!

The massive limb crashed down into him...and through him...and past him...taking Everything.

His Everything of Fear!

The sensation was indescribable.

Not pain, but absence. Not loss, but liberation!

The Inevitability’s limb passed through his body as if one of them was illusory, and in its grasp afterward was a brilliant murky crimson light that pulsed with condensed terror.

The creature held this light...his Fear made manifest, with something that could only be described as joy. Its many eyes expressed happiness that transcended the simple satisfaction of hunger.

This was the contentment of purpose fulfilled, of nature expressed, of existence justified.

Noah watched with a heart that still beat heavily but no longer with fear, as prompts cascaded before his vision.

...!

Ah!

Ah!!!

Heavy.

The actions was a heavy one!

The massive Inevitability finished consuming his crystalized fear, then did something that shattered Noah’s remaining assumptions.

It nodded toward him...a gesture of acknowledgment, perhaps even respect, before sauntering back to the woman who stroked its tentacles with genuine affection.

”This,” she said, her hand running along appendages that existed in multiple states simultaneously, ”is the nature of Inevitability. It takes Everything, but there are many Everythings.”

Her expression grew complex, mixing pity with frustration.

”If lifeforms were not so impulsive, if they weren’t so greedy about their Everythings... Even giving up some of their negative and unneeded Everythings would actually aid them and their existence. Fear, Doubt, Hatred, Regret...so many Everythings that poison existence, yet beings cling to them as if they were treasures.”

She shook her head with the weariness of someone who had watched this pattern repeat across eons.

”But they are greedy. They are arrogant. They refuse to give up even what hurts them. So when they meet an Inevitability, it always resorts to life and death. The Inevitability, following its nature, tries to take what is offered freely. The being, following their greed, offers nothing. So the Inevitability takes what it can reach...usually life itself.”

HUUM!

Without warning, she took a step that compressed space between them, appearing directly in front of Noah with proximity that should have been terrifying but now simply was. Her layered eyes fixed on the stick in his hands, and her smile grew knowing.

”Are you not emulating that Man who also gave his Everything to an Inevitability long ago?”

...!

Her words carried weight that made the Earliest Folds themselves pause to listen.

”Did he not become even greater after he gave away his Everything?”

BOOM!

Noah’s eyes shone brilliantly.

He stood frozen...not from fear, for he could no longer feel such a thing...but from the sheer magnitude of what was being revealed.

His grip on the Goad tightened as he processed this information! As he processed this woman...even looking at his stick and finding out something about it!

The woman watched his reaction with satisfaction.

”THE Creature understood what so few ever grasp,” she continued, her voice carrying the weight of witnessed history. ”That giving away an Everything doesn’t diminish you...it refines you.”

The silence that followed was absolute. Even the slumbering Inevitabilities seemed to still their writhing in recognition.

Noah’s mind raced through implications that cascaded like dominoes.

If Inevitabilities weren’t simply mindless devourers but beings following their nature who could be satisfied with willing sacrifice... If giving away negative Everythings could lead to growth rather than diminishment... If THE Creature itself had used this principle...

”Why,” he asked, his voice steady without fear to make it waver, ”does no one know this?”

The woman’s expression grew sad in ways that suggested sorrow older than most concepts.

”Because beings prefer their fear. They prefer their limitations. They prefer the comfort of weakness to the terror of potential strength. Nobody...wants to give away anything, much less Everything.”
