Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 100: Chapter 100 Good Opportunity to Buy Land

In order not to affect Bai Ruozhu’s mood during her postpartum period, no one mentioned these things. Of course, it wasn’t that Bai Ruozhu couldn’t think of them, she just didn’t want to think too much. After all, no matter how big the sky or the earth was, nothing was more important than her body’s health. She didn’t want to become sick from improper postpartum care and suffer afterwards.

In the blink of an eye, ten days passed; the little one became more and more lovely. He especially liked to snuggle with Bai Ruozhu when he was sleeping. He wasn’t even happy when others held him. He was obviously a very clingy little fellow.

Children in rural families were not overly spoiled. Though the entire family loved the baby, they didn’t constantly hold him. So Bai Ruozhu could finally relax. She had genuinely feared that the child would be spoiled rotten by the family, only falling asleep when held.

During this period, Lin Ping’er returned the cart to the Zhang Family and brought some gifts of gratitude as well. No matter how the Zhang family matriarch refused to accept, they insisted on leaving the gifts. The matriarch’s action was like sending coal in the snow to them. Although it was a small matter, Bai Ruozhu’s family would never forget her kindness.

Having thanked the Zhang family, they naturally wouldn’t forget Zhao Ludan, who had drove the cart that day, or the other people who came to help. First, Bai Ruozhu had her parents deliver some gratitude gifts. She planned to personally visit them carrying her child to thank them once her confinement period was over.

Additionally, she also planned to duly express her gratitude to Hao Baishuang and Du Zhongshu in town.

Bai Ruozhu’s recovery was going well. She herself knew how to regulate her body, and had practised scientific postpartum care methods. So, within ten days, she feels energetic and revitalized. Every day, she would appropriately move around a bit. Who could really never leave bed during their post-natal period—even going to the toilet required getting off the bed, wasn’t it?

Regrettably, Lin Ping’er wouldn’t let her leave the room, and taking a bath was out of the question. Thus, Bai Ruozhu, though energetic, often felt uncomfortable and itchy all over her body.

On the twelfth day after her delivery, she requested her family to continue with her elder brother’s house construction. His house was the furthest from hers, and no one would pass by the entrance of her room. The construction noise might be a bit louder, but given that half of the house had already been built, could they afford to let it sit for a month before proceeding?

Indeed, Bai Yihong thought it would be better to wait. Bai Ruozhu insisted it wasn’t a problem; it was a daytime construction and would stop during meal and rest times, so it really didn’t affect her confinement period.

Worse comes to worst, didn’t she have her secret weapon?

Bai Ruozhu surreptitiously smirked. She had discovered that she could take her son into the Space with her. The little fellow always seemed fascinated by the pond there, his eyes round with wonder. She didn’t know what he was thinking, but could tell he was extremely excited. Even when he was crying, he would immediately stop and quickly fall asleep once inside the Space.

She had secretly used this method to appease the baby several times—it had never failed.

With the resumes of the house construction, the Bai Family once again bustled with people. Nevertheless, everyone who came was careful not to raise their voices in fear of waking Little Dengdeng. However, a surprise visitor arrived the very next day after the construction resumed.

”Sister Ruozhu, you look so good, as if your postpartum period is already over.” Zhou Taohua frankly observed as she walked into the room, chuckling. Then she looked at Little Dengdeng, saying, ”His name is Dengdeng, right? He’s truly beautiful! He seems to be a lucky child.”

Bai Ruozhu didn’t dislike Zhou Taohua, but was well aware of her intentions. And since Bai Zepei had absolutely no interest in Zhou Taohua, Bai Ruozhu didn’t want to have too many interactions with her.

”How did you find the time to come over, Tao Hua? My room is not well ventilated, and smells a bit off. I’ll come to play with you after my postnatal period is over.” Bai Ruozhu politely responded with a smile. Although she was maintaining a friendly demeanor, she was subtly distancing herself from Zhou Taohua.

”Alright, you must come to play with me after your postnatal period is over.” Zhou Taohua seemingly didn’t notice the subtle coolness in Bai Ruozhu’s response.

After speaking, she lowered her voice and leaned in closer to Bai Ruozhu, saying, ”Actually, my father sent me here. The thing that you asked him for has made some progress. You gave birth before we could update you. He didn’t think it would be a good idea to disturb you during this time. He planned to speak to you once your confinement period was over, but now it seems like there’s a good opportunity. It would be a pity to miss out.”

”Oh? I really ought to thank Zhou Uncle for that.” Bai Ruozhu was slightly embarrassed; they had come to discuss something important, making her feel like she had been overly suspicious.

”Thank you? My father thinks he should have resolved this issue for you way earlier. Otherwise, he would feel awkward.” Zhou Taohua lowered her voice even more and said, ”There’s this old man in Linjiang Village named Wang Laomo, he is the one who wants to sell his land, five acres of good land, all for only thirty-five silver.”

A prime land can sell for up to ten silver, Bai Ruozhu raised her eyebrows, asking, ”That’s quite a low price. Is he rushing for a sale?”

Zhou Taohua nodded, ”Isn’t it? Otherwise, he wouldn’t be selling it so cheaply. He said that his son has settled down in the city due to business, and he wants to go join him for his retirement.”

”He doesn’t have to rush to sell though, right? If it doesn’t work out, it would still be good to lease the land?” Bai Ruozhu asked, puzzled.

Zhou Taohua gave her a ”you’re so smart” look and mysteriously said, ”So, my father heard that the matter is not as simple as he made it sound. It seems that his son loss money in his business and needed money urgently. Far from going there for the good life, in fact.”

Bai Ruozhu sighed, ”Parental love is really boundless.” Although she felt pity, it didn’t mean she wouldn’t buy Wang Laomo’s land. If she did not, he might even more desperate if he could not raise the money.

”I will talk to my mom and dad, and then I will let my father go and see the land with Zhou Uncle. If it is good, then we will sign it directly.” Her father going to see the land was best, as he had the most knowledge and experience with the land in her family.

”Okay, I will tell my father that message. But it has to be quick. Otherwise, Wang Laomo may find someone else to sell it to.” Zhou Taohua warned.

”Okay, I get it.”

After discussing these things, Bai Ruozhu thought Zhou Taohua would say goodbye. However, she remained seated, chatting about taking care of the children, as if particularly fond of them.

Finally, Zhou Taohua changed the topic and brought it to Bai Zepei.

”Sister Ruozhu, I heard that you need to prepare a lot of things to enter the examination hall. Is Brother Zepei ready? Is there anything I can help with?” Zhou Taohua’s small face flushed slightly, as if it had taken considerable courage for her to ask this.

Bai Ruozhu hadn’t been aware of such things. But being reminded by Zhou Taohua, she thought it would be good to prepare. At the very least, pens would be essential, along with some dried food, and medicinal pills in case of discomfort. But could she allow Zhou Taohua to help with such things? It might be misinterpreted if TaoHua were to help.

”Brother Zepei is always meticulous, so I expect he’s mostly prepared.” Bai Ruozhu smile didn’t reach her eyes, however. It seemed that her instinct to keep her distance was right from the start.

Zhou Taohua looked a little disappointed, but still said, ”In that case, do let me know if there is anything else needed. I know the stationary shopkeeper in town, and can help you get a discount.”

”I’ll ask Brother Zepei then, thank you in advance.” Bai Ruozhu somewhat reluctantly said so.

Zhou Taohua finally stood up, ”Then I won’t disturb your rest anymore. I will go and check on Brother Zepei.”
