Exposed to the CEO Behind the Mafia Mask

Chapter 430: Chapter 26 Financial Freedom

Lila’s POV

We returned to my desk when the private banking consultant emerged from the executive elevator. Jude handled the introductions, and we settled into the conference room for our meeting. Within twenty minutes, my new offshore account was established, and I felt an enormous sense of relief wash over me.

”Lila, you can now transfer your assets,” Peyton informed me with the practiced discretion that came from servicing the city’s most powerful families. Without hesitation, I accessed my previous account through the encrypted banking application and initiated the complete transfer of my trust fund.

”Will the transfer process immediately, Peyton?” I asked, unable to hide the anxiety in my voice.

”Absolutely. Since you’re moving funds between accounts under the same beneficial ownership, it processes instantly through our private banking network. Feel free to verify the deposit through your new account portal.” His reassuring smile put me at ease. I opened the application and exhaled with relief seeing my inheritance safely secured in the new account, far from my mother’s reach.

”What’s the procedure for closing the previous account?” I inquired.

”It depends on the institution’s protocols. For your former bank, you can handle closure directly through their secure portal. Alternatively, given your family’s long-standing relationship with that institution, you could request your account manager’s personal assistance.” Peyton’s explanation was both thorough and tactful.

”I’d prefer to handle it through the portal. Could you guide me through the process?” He nodded warmly and walked me through each step with practiced patience. Within minutes, my old account was officially terminated, and I felt an enormous burden lift from my shoulders.

”I’ll arrange for your new banking cards to be delivered directly to Thorne Group, Lila. It’s more secure that way, and typically faster. The package should arrive within a few days,” Peyton continued. ”I couldn’t help but notice the substantial value of your portfolio. May I suggest considering some secure investment vehicles? Here are some prospectuses detailing various opportunities. Rather than having your capital remain dormant, you might consider allocating portions to stable investments where it can appreciate. Jude possesses excellent financial acumen, and I remain entirely at your disposal. Whenever you’re prepared to proceed, simply contact me, and I’ll handle everything personally.”

”That sounds perfect! Thank you so much. I’ll definitely study these materials thoroughly. Growing my assets certainly interests me.”

”As it should for anyone with your resources!” Peyton, a distinguished gentleman in his fifties with penetrating steel-blue eyes, smiled warmly. ”I’m confident you’ll be satisfied with our private wealth management services. I must return to other clients now, but it was truly a pleasure serving you.”

”The pleasure was mine entirely.” Peyton bid farewell to both Jude and myself with the practiced courtesy expected in our circles.

”Well, Lila, that went more smoothly than anticipated, didn’t it?” Jude remarked once we were alone at the reception area.

”Jude, it was incredible!” I beamed with genuine gratitude. ”I can’t express how much your assistance means to me. And I’ll definitely want your investment guidance.”

”Let’s have lunch tomorrow, and I’ll walk you through the most secure investment strategies. Your money will grow steadily and safely, I guarantee it.” Jude’s confidence was reassuring, backed by her reputation for managing accounts for several prominent families.

”It’s a date!” I accepted eagerly.

”I need to return to my duties now. Remember, Lila, if you require anything whatsoever, my office door is always open. We’re allies—never forget that!” Jude said warmly. I embraced her, overwhelmed with gratitude for having such loyal supporters in my corner.

After Jude returned to her office, I decided it was time to address the security breach involving Tess, the indiscreet bank employee. I possessed a kind heart but maintained sharp instincts, and I wouldn’t allow her carelessness to go unaddressed. I retrieved my phone and contacted my former banking relationship manager.

”Lila! What an unexpected pleasure. How are your legal studies progressing?” Lukas, who had managed the Sullivan family’s legitimate banking relationships for decades and remained a trusted associate of my late father, answered with genuine warmth.

”Hello, Lukas. Everything’s progressing well, thank you. I’m calling to inform you that I’ve terminated my account with your institution.”

”What transpired, Lila? Did you need immediate access to the funds? There was no need to close the account entirely.”

”It’s not about liquidity, Lukas. I’ve transferred my assets to another institution. Your bank has confidentiality issues. Your employee Tess has been discussing details about my financial activities throughout the city, and she even promised to assist my mother in accessing my account.”

”Please explain precisely what occurred, Lila.” I recounted the entire situation, and Lukas’s reaction was one of genuine shock and professional outrage. ”I apologize profusely, but I completely agree that relocating your funds was the correct decision. I know your mother’s methods all too well—she would absolutely attempt such manipulation. She’s becoming increasingly desperate, poor woman. As for Tess, rest assured she’ll face immediate consequences. She’ll be terminated for cause—client confidentiality breaches are absolutely unacceptable, especially involving families of your stature.”

”Thank you for understanding, Lukas. I regret having to close the account, but I trust you comprehend the necessity. I must go now. Please extend my regards to your family. Goodbye.”

I ended the call, noticing my mother attempting to reach me again on another line. I powered down my phone once more, contemplating whether I should maintain it at all, given her relentless harassment campaigns.

By the time Daniel arrived to collect me, I had regained my composure, though residual frustration lingered. My mother had effectively tainted what should have been a triumphant day.

”My beautiful little one, I’ve missed you tremendously.” Daniel greeted me with a tender kiss as he approached my desk, his presence immediately soothing my frayed nerves.

”Well, observe who’s thoroughly smitten!” Xavier teased as he emerged from his office and witnessed Daniel’s affectionate display.

”As if you’re unfamiliar with such feelings, Xavier,” Daniel replied without breaking eye contact with me, while gently tucking an escaped strand of hair behind my ear.

”Oh, I’m certainly familiar, but you appear to have only recently made this discovery,” Xavier laughed knowingly.

”You can be absolutely certain I have. This little one has completely revolutionized my existence!” Daniel continued gazing at me with undisguised adoration.

”I believe I was mistaken. This transcends mere infatuation. Daniel, you’ve finally discovered authentic love! The enduring variety that renders you completely vulnerable to a woman’s influence.” Xavier spoke more seriously, though I understood the reality better. My detective was simply captivated, as he had admitted himself—we weren’t even officially committed. Eventually, his fascination would diminish, and when that inevitable moment arrived, I would be crushed, having discovered my soulmate.

I contemplated these sobering thoughts while gazing into his eyes as he smiled back at me. When my detective ultimately abandoned me, I would suffer immeasurably—I was certain of that reality—but until then, I would treasure every moment, every tender gesture. When the end came, these precious memories would be my only consolation for a shattered heart.

”Xavier, you can be absolutely confident that this little one has me completely under her spell,” Daniel replied to his colleague after a thoughtful pause. ”Ready to depart, little one?”

I couldn’t tear my gaze from him, as if attempting to permanently memorize every detail of his handsome features. I gathered my purse, we bid farewell to Xavier, and departed hand in hand. Walking beside him, I experienced comfort, security, and overwhelming love for this remarkable detective who had already irrevocably transformed my world.
