Heaven-Surpassing Divine Emperor

Time passed like a river.

In the blink of an eye, ten days had gone by.

On this day...

Jiang Chen was leading the First Squad in training on the Martial Arts Training Ground, with Tong Niu and over a hundred men surrounding and attacking him.

”Old Niu, how many times have I told you? Don’t charge out by yourself! You’re a team!”

”Yes, that’s more like it!”

Jiang Chen’s voice echoed across the Martial Arts Training Ground.

Tong Niu had long since been won over by Jiang Chen and now followed his every command. After interacting with him for the past ten days, he had come to treat Jiang Chen like an idol.

Once, when some members of the Second Squad were privately speaking ill of Jiang Chen, Tong Niu overheard them.

He charged right up and gave those few experts from the Second Squad a harsh beating.

He ended up being punished with a hundred military cane strikes!

Jiang Chen also considered Tong Niu a good brother. Aside from his fiery temper and straightforward personality, he was a man worth befriending.

”Centurion Jiang Chen, Commander Zhao asks to see you!” A soldier of the Blood Saber Guard ran over and said to Jiang Chen.

Jiang Chen was taken aback. ”Do you know what it’s about?”

”I’m not sure, but it seems urgent. You should go quickly!” the soldier said respectfully.

Jiang Chen nodded, told Tong Niu and the others to continue training, and followed the soldier toward Zhao Ziyun’s personal courtyard.

Inside the courtyard.

Zhao Ziyun looked Jiang Chen up and down. His blood-colored battle armor radiated a dense Evil Qi and a majestic aura, making him appear exceptionally sharp. He nodded in satisfaction and smiled. ”Jiang Chen, are you settling into the Blood Saber Guard all right?”

Jiang Chen nodded. ”Not bad, but it’s been quiet. Just training all the time is making me a little restless!”

”Hahaha, you brat, you really can’t sit still! But it’s a good thing to be young, passionate, and driven. When I first joined the Blood Saber Guard, I was also itching to go out on a mission every single day!”

A nostalgic look appeared on Zhao Ziyun’s face.

He seemed to be recalling the thrilling memories of carrying out missions and slaughtering the Kun-eating Race.

”Commander... Commander...”

”Ah? My apologies. When you get old, your mind tends to wander!”

Zhao Ziyun snapped out of it and took out a scroll. A solemn expression appeared on his face. ”You said you were getting restless, didn’t you? Well, it just so happens an urgent mission has come up. Those bastards from the Kun-eating Race have been getting more and more active lately. The other Blood Saber Guard squads are already occupied, so I can only give this mission to you!”

”Commander, what kind of mission is it?” Jiang Chen asked, taking the scroll with a confused look.

He opened it, and the contents were clear at a glance.

It turned out that Blood Jade City had purchased a batch of equipment from Black Wind City, but the caravan had been attacked by experts from the Kun-eating Race en route and was now trapped in Broken Ridge Valley.

The caravan had sent a distress call to Blood Jade City.

”Commander, is our First Squad going on this mission alone?” Jiang Chen asked.

Zhao Ziyun nodded. ”To avoid drawing the attention of the Kun-eating Race, we only assigned about a dozen people to that caravan. The message they sent back indicates that they are besieged by just over two hundred members of the Kun-eating Race. Their strongest is an Emperor Level Kun-eater, equivalent to the Sixth Stage of the Human Emperor Realm. Your First Squad should be more than enough to handle it!”

”Understood!”

Jiang Chen put away the scroll and then asked, ”Commander, as far as I know, there are only two Kun-eating Race tribes within Blood Jade City’s territory. I wonder, when will I be able to participate in the mission to encircle and annihilate those two tribes?”

’I came to the Kun Realm with a mission, after all. I have to destroy one hundred and eight Kun-eating Race tribes and seize their altars within a year. Over half a month has already passed.’ Jiang Chen couldn’t help but feel a little anxious.

Zhao Ziyun was taken aback, then laughed and cursed good-naturedly, ”You brat... Those two Kun-eating Race tribes have quite a few experts. Do you think annihilating them is that easy? If you really want to participate in a battle of that level, you’ll have to at least break through to the Human Emperor Realm first!”

”The Human Emperor Realm? I will do my best to break through as soon as possible!”

Jiang Chen grinned. ”When that time comes, Commander, you have to let me join the fight!”

”Alright, alright. Get your preparations done and set off as soon as you can!” Zhao Ziyun said, waving his hand in resignation.

”You got it!”

Jiang Chen immediately returned to the Martial Arts Training Ground. When they heard there was a mission, all the experts of the First Squad were ecstatic.

It took them only half a double-hour to get ready.

And so...

Jiang Chen led the First Squad, riding their Green Blood Dragon Steeds as they departed from Blood Jade City in a magnificent procession.

Along the way, all the residents of Blood Jade City watched them with eyes full of excitement and adoration.

As they were leaving the city gates.

A slender figure among the group of City Guard Soldiers spotted Jiang Chen, a look of astonishment on his face. ’That brat is still alive? And he joined the Blood Saber Guard? Could Young Master Pei have failed? No, I have to go find out what happened!’

......

「Broken Ridge Valley.」

It was located between Blood Jade City and Black Wind City, 13,000 kilometers from Blood Jade City.

At this moment...

Inside Broken Ridge Valley, several experts from Blood Jade City were covered in blood. With anxious expressions, they looked toward a bald, middle-aged man deeper in the valley. ”Captain, the Spiritual Light Shield is almost out of energy! Those beasts from the Kun-eating Race are still attacking relentlessly. I’m afraid it won’t hold for much longer. What are we going to do?”

”What’s there to panic about? I’ve already sent a distress signal to the Blood Saber Guard. I’m sure reinforcements will be here soon!” the bald, middle-aged man named Zhangg Kang said in a deep voice. A vicious scar across his face made him look particularly ferocious.

The other men gave a bitter smile. ”We’re afraid the Spiritual Light Shield won’t last that long!”

Just as the men were worrying.

The Kun-eating Race members, who had been ceaselessly attacking the Spiritual Light Shield from the outside, suddenly went quiet.

”What’s going on?”

”Have the Kun-eating Race given up?”

Just as everyone was wondering, a calm voice came from outside. ”Brothers from Blood Jade City, I am Centurion Jiang Chen of the Blood Saber Guard. We’ve taken care of the Kun-eating Race outside. You can come out now!”

”Huh?”

”Taken care of?”

”How could it be so fast?”

Everyone was completely baffled, and they all turned to look at Zhangg Kang.

There had been over two hundred members of the Kun-eating Race outside, including an Emperor Level one comparable to the Sixth Stage of the Human Emperor Realm. Even if reinforcements had arrived, it was impossible for them to have finished the fight so quickly.

”Could a Thousand-man Commander, or even a Marquis of Ten Thousand Households, have come?”

the men wondered aloud.

Zhangg Kang frowned. ”Let’s go out and see first!”

When they walked out of Broken Ridge Valley, the surviving experts of the caravan all stared wide-eyed, unable to believe the sight before them.

The area around Broken Ridge Valley was littered with corpses.

They were all corpses of the Kun-eating Race, torn to pieces and deader than dead.

This included the Emperor Level Kun-eater at the Sixth Stage of the Human Emperor Realm.

”Th-This is impossible!”

”But we didn’t hear any sounds of battle just now.”

”Even a Thousand-man Commander couldn’t have ended the fight this quickly. Could it be that a Marquis of Ten Thousand Households came to our rescue?”

All the experts, including Zhangg Kang, turned to look at Jiang Chen, their expressions a colorful mix of emotions. Zhangg Kang quickly said, ”Thank you for saving our lives, brother! May I ask which Commander you serve under? And which Marquis of Ten thousand Households led the rescue this time?”

Jiang Chen was taken aback.

’So they all misunderstood, thinking a Marquis of Ten Thousand Households at the Peak of the Eighth Stage of the Human Emperor Realm had intervened.’

Jiang Chen smiled and said, ”We’re new recruits, having just joined the Blood Saber Guard under Commander Zhao. I was the one leading the team this time. There’s no Marquis of Ten Thousand Households!”

”Huh?”

”New recruits? Since when were new recruits this incredible?”

Everyone was aghast.

Zhangg Kang frowned. He saw that Jiang Chen was only at the Ninth Stage of the Human King Realm. How could he have dealt with the Kun-eating Race so easily?

Before Zhangg Kang could speak, Jiang Chen, who was mounted on his Green Blood Dragon Steed, knitted his brows. His expression turned solemn as he shouted in a low voice, ”All troops, prepare for battle!”

Startled, everyone looked in the direction Jiang Chen was facing, and the color instantly drained from their faces.

On the horizon, a dense mass of black figures was rapidly charging toward them...

[Three more chapters to come! Also... a friend said my rule for bonus chapters is: one bonus chapter if I’m half an hour late, two bonus chapters if I’m an hour late. Heaven is my witness, I’ve been framed! What Little Tian said was one bonus chapter for being *more than* half an hour late... Sigh...
