Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 873: Chapter 873: Entering the Sky-reach Nest, Collecting Insect Eggs

After the space barrier was broken.

Ye Yun gazed ahead.

In front was a dark, deep, and vast desolate space, with countless bright stars speckled across the void above.

However, these stars were extremely distant.

An imposing ancient building, resembling a gigantic tower reaching the heavens, was birthed from the void below and extended upwards, stretching towards the distant stars.

On the surface of this ancient building, dense and massive hexagonal nests were scattered all over.

These hexagonal nests exhibited a dark gold color, with light flowing throughout, and a heavy, ancient aura.

”So this is the Sky-reach Nest...”

Gazing at this ancient structure, Ye Yun slightly raised his eyebrows, quite surprised at the lair of the Gold-eating Spirit Beetle.

No wonder it’s called the Sky-reach Nest...

The Sky-reach Nest ascends and descends, reaching sky and earth, almost endless to the eye, all composed of these hexagonal hive-like dark gold nests stacked together.

Most of these nests are empty.

Some of the nests store some dark gold eggs.

And in some nests, lay some gold-colored behemoths.

Precisely the Gold-eating Spirit Beetles!

These Gold-eating Spirit Beetles, none of them were in the Eternal Realm, almost all were in the True God Realm.

Only a small portion had the cultivation base of the Divine Monarch Realm.

”In sea, land, and air, it seems the Gold-eating Spirit Beetles’ power is the strongest among the three major races...”

Ye Yun thought silently in his heart.

”Just broke it with a finger?”

The old man in golden clothes beside was shocked; he reached out and touched the space barrier, a storm surging in his heart.

The cultivation base of this senior was becoming more and more unfathomable to him.

If he remembered correctly, this space barrier couldn’t be forcibly broken without a cultivation base of the Divine Monarch Realm.

”Could it be... during the tens of thousands of years I was away, the prowess of the space barrier has also diminished?”

The old man in golden clothes thought to himself.

Suddenly, he felt that such a guess wasn’t impossible either.

After all, the Cangnan Continent does not contain divine spiritual energy.

All the methods of their Golden Soul-devouring Insect Clan would eventually decline over time.

”This Sky-reach Nest... almost no end in sight; does the upper end lead directly to the depths of the starry sky?”

Ye Yun suddenly said.

”Senior, how could it be without end? If I remember correctly, the Sky-reach Nest only extends to the outer space, then it directly breaks off...”

The old man in golden clothes rubbed his hands, smiling bitterly.

”Why do I feel it’s not broken?”

Ye Yun’s eyes flickered, then he smiled profoundly.

”It is indeed broken, senior. This Sky-reach Nest is the crystallization of the efforts of our Golden Soul-devouring Insect Clan over millions of years. Now that my clan members are becoming fewer, it’s naturally impossible to extend infinitely!”

The old man in golden clothes explained.

Ye Yun nodded and took a step into the hole in the barrier and walked in.

The old man in golden clothes glanced at the Sky-reach Nest with guilt in his eyes. He didn’t know what came to mind, and his face suddenly turned pale.

Without hesitation, he also stepped in and followed behind Ye Yun.

After the two entered this mysterious space, they slowly flew towards the distant Sky-reach Nest.

In the dim light.

The gigantic Sky-reach Nest, reaching heaven and earth, emitted a dark gold hue, becoming even more awe-inspiring.

All around was silent.

Not a single Gold-eating Spirit Beetle was disturbed to awaken.

”Senior, my clan members are sleeping too deeply; we’ve been in for so long, yet they haven’t noticed at all...”

Looking around, the old man in golden clothes said awkwardly.

Back then, although his intentions were seen through, the old man in golden clothes also hoped Ye Yun and his clan members would battle fiercely, so he could reap the benefits as an onlooker.

However, after entering.

All the clan members within the Sky-reach Nest were in slumber, and not a single one had awakened.

This surprised him greatly.

”These Gold-eating Spirit Beetles, could they all be dead?”

Ye Yun chuckled lightly.

”Impossible! How could they be dead? Senior, they must have been asleep for too long and didn’t expect anyone to come in...”

The old man in golden clothes explained awkwardly.

”Let’s go, since they’ve not awakened, let’s take a tour inside the Sky-reach Nest!”

Ye Yun smiled faintly and suddenly accelerated.

The old man in golden clothes hurried to follow.

He looked anxiously at Ye Yun’s back, his eyes flickering constantly.

Actually, under such circumstances, he had the means to awaken those clan members.

But he also feared another extreme scenario.

That just as the clan members were awakened, he would get killed.

That would be a great loss.

In such a complex mindset, the old man in golden clothes decided to hold back and let things take their course.

Without clearly understanding the true foundation of this ”white-clad maiden” ahead, he absolutely could not act recklessly.

After all, the other party had already promised to spare his life.

Such an opportunity he must seize firmly.

Ye Yun stepped onto the Sky-reach Nest.

He stood on the edge of a hexagonal dark gold nest and glanced inside.

Inside, there was a giant egg, emanating a surging life aura.

It seemed it wouldn’t be long before the larvae would hatch.

”Interesting...”

Ye Yun’s eyes flickered, and without knowing what he thought, he suddenly waved his sleeve and collected the egg.

The old man in golden clothes was taken aback.

”Senior, what do you want this egg for?”

He asked tremulously.

”Nothing, just on a whim...”

Ye Yun smiled faintly, not revealing the thoughts in his mind to the old man in golden clothes.

”Oh!”

The old man in golden clothes felt awkward, his old face slightly red, no longer daring to inquire further.

Following this.

Ye Yun, like a specter, kept moving on the Sky-reach Nest, plundering many insect eggs from bottom to top.

”Sleeping so deeply, I’ve taken so many eggs, yet none of your clan members have awakened!”

Ye Yun halted, looked around, and voiced with a taunting tone.

This voice bore a strange resonance.

Next.

Buzz buzz...

The Sky-reach Nest began to tremble slightly.

Many Gold-eating Spirit Beetles in the nests awakened one after another.

”Why is there a stranger’s presence?”

”Who entered during our sleep?”

”Isn’t that Jin Zhong? How did he return? That white-clad maiden beside him, who is she?”

”...”

Countless voices, clamorously echoed from the innumerable nests.

Strong auras instantly spread out from the nests.

The entire Sky-reach Nest shuddered and at this moment, brightened up.

Listening to these voices, the old man in golden clothes’ face paled to ashen.

”It seems, this traitor label is one I can never wash away...”

The old man in golden clothes thought.

In his heart, despair deepened.

Ye Yun watched all this indifferently, his expression calm, unfazed.

Earlier, he employed a means to awaken all the Gold-eating Spirit Beetles from their dormant state.

Now.

It’s time for him to reckon with these fellows.

An aged voice suddenly reverberated down like rolling thunder from the distance above the Sky-reach Nest.

”Jin Zhong! The outer space barrier has long been reinforced, how did you, a mere True God, enter?”

Upon hearing this voice, panic surged in the old man in golden clothes’ heart, his expression changed drastically.

The speaker was the Clan Leader of the Golden Soul-devouring Insect Clan.

Also, the one who lived the longest and was the strongest among all clan members.

This Clan Leader, at the peak of the God Monarch Realm tenth layer, in terms of realm, stood far above all other clan members.
