Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 459: Chapter 459: Heavenly Mechanism Tower, Ghost Moth

Heavenly Mechanism Tower?

Luo Li was taken aback; she hadn’t expected such a magical place within the Nether Immortal Ancient Land.

This Super Sect sure is thoughtful!

”Which Super Sect is this? Their might is so strong that they established the Heavenly Mechanism Tower within the Ten Great Immortal Lands?” Jun Moxiao asked from the side.

Mu Qing thought for a moment and murmured, ”It’s said... it’s the Super Sect Tianjige.”

HISS!

Jun Moxiao gasped.

It turned out to be a Super Sect—truly a grand gesture! To think they’ve built so many Heavenly Mechanism Towers in this place for these cultivators undergoing training.

Although the Dragon God Sect was an Eternal Realm Sect, that was already a hundred thousand years ago. As the 298th generation junior disciple, Jun Moxiao had never experienced what an Eternal Realm Sect was truly like.

On his journey, he had seen many large Sects of different grades and had already sensed their strength.

One could only imagine how powerful a Super Sect must be.

”Why would Tianjige build Heavenly Mechanism Towers here?” Su Wanyi asked curiously.

”There are too many strange creatures in the Nether Immortal Ancient Land; it’s impossible to kill them all,” Mu Qing explained with a smile. ”Each time it’s opened, many cultivators are needed to eliminate these creatures. Of course, this task involves high risk, but the rewards are also substantial. One can obtain the Divine Element Longevity Fruit, which extends lifespan and is a lifesaver for the ancestors of many large sects or ancient families.”

”So that’s how it is.”

Everyone nodded and then continued flying in silence.

”Sect Master, the Heavenly Mechanism Tower is just ahead,” Mu Qing said, pointing into the distance, her face suddenly lighting up with joy.

Everyone looked into the distance. Amidst the layers of black fog, a cluster of silver light shimmered, its contents indistinct.

But they could imagine that within that glow stood a silver Heavenly Mechanism Tower, constantly radiating light.

WHOOSH WHOOSH...

The mist roiled, and suddenly, countless massive shadows howled as they converged on them from all directions.

”Are the Shadow Crows here?” Jun Moxiao exclaimed, startled. He immediately drew his sword, preparing for battle.

Luo Li also raised her sword and smiled. ”Junior Brother, don’t worry about the Shadow Crows. My Supreme Golden Dragon Sword has a suppressive effect on them!”

”Senior Sister, the Dragon Soul in your Supreme Golden Dragon Sword doesn’t seem very spirited!” Jun Moxiao chuckled, covering his mouth.

The Supreme Golden Dragon Sword in Luo Li’s hand was not currently emitting a golden light, and the Dragon Soul within it seemed rather listless.

It seems the Dragon Soul can’t be summoned at will, Luo Li thought, on the verge of tears.

”Perhaps the Ancestor Dragon instructed the Dragon Soul to only help us at critical moments?” Su Wanyi suddenly interjected. ”We need to handle ordinary battles ourselves!”

”I understand, Senior Sister!”

Hearing Su Wanyi’s words, Luo Li nodded. Her expression changed from dejection to determination, her fighting spirit ignited.

Su Wanyi nodded silently.

Her junior brother and junior sister were both quite young. Though obstinate in a fight, they still retained a somewhat childish nature in everyday matters, making them more prone to emotional swings.

Everyone drew their weapons, preparing to fight.

”Huh?” Big Black Cat suddenly exclaimed, ”These aren’t Shadow Crows! They look like a swarm of moths!”

”Could they be Ghost Moths?” Mu Qing’s heart skipped a beat as she spoke quickly.

Just as she finished speaking, a sky-filling swarm of Ghost Moths descended upon them.

These Ghost Moths were pitch-black, with a few streaks of red fur on their backs. Each was as large as a millstone, several times bigger than the Shadow Crows they had encountered earlier.

Each Ghost Moth possessed a sharp beak, and as they flew, their bodies continuously shed a powder that mingled with the mist.

”Everyone, be careful! It’s said that the powder these Ghost Moths shed will drive you mad if it touches your skin!” Mu Qing shouted.

She raised her sword, and a sharp beam of sword light flew out, instantly cleaving a Ghost Moth in two. The creature fell from mid-air.

That particular Ghost Moth was only at the First Layer of Heaven’s Will Realm.

The others also engaged the Ghost Moths in battle.

However, the sheer number of Ghost Moths was overwhelming—at least a few thousand.

After fighting for a while, they inevitably came into contact with the powder.

The first to show signs of delirium was Cat Baby, who had the lowest cultivation base.

Her body swayed, and a crazed look appeared on her face.

Fortunately, Cat Baby’s willpower was relatively strong, and she didn’t truly lose her mind.

”Little Cat, quickly take Cat Baby to the Heavenly Mechanism Tower!” Luo Li shouted.

The powder didn’t affect Luo Li much. But there are too many Ghost Moths; it’s impossible to eliminate them all. We’d better take refuge in the Heavenly Mechanism Tower for now, she thought.

”Alright!” Big Black Cat agreed, immediately dashing over, seizing Cat Baby, and vanishing on the spot.

Luo Li and the others fought as they retreated, flying towards the Heavenly Mechanism Tower.

By the time they neared the Heavenly Mechanism Tower, they had already slain over a thousand Ghost Moths.

Just then, a faint silver glow permeated the fog.

Upon seeing this light, the Ghost Moths’ wings fluttered rapidly, and they all vanished into the mist.

”This Heavenly Mechanism Tower... it’s truly a lifesaver,” Mu Qing sighed, her face showing the relief of someone who had narrowly escaped death.

Fortunately, her cultivation base was high, and she had been suppressing the toxicity of the black fog as well as the poisonous powder from the Ghost Moths.

This dual assault of toxins had brought her to the brink of collapse.

However, they had luckily reached the area illuminated by the Heavenly Mechanism Tower just in time.

Though the silver light was faint, she felt a little more comfortable.

”We should hurry over...” Seeing Mu Qing’s face darkening, Su Wanyi quickly moved to support her, and they swiftly flew towards the Heavenly Mechanism Tower.

A silver tower, soaring over a hundred feet high, came into view.

It released a soft, silver light that gently spread across the surroundings.

Many cultivators were already gathered around the Heavenly Mechanism Tower.

Each sat cross-legged with their eyes closed, apparently purging toxins from their bodies.

Big Black Cat and Cat Baby were sitting somewhat apart from the main group.

Luo Li’s group quickly flew over to them.

Mu Qing was the first to land, settling down beside Cat Baby.

She immediately began to meditate, working to purge the toxins from her system.

The energy of the Heavenly Mechanism Tower entered her body and, fusing with her Mana, began to neutralize the poisons within.

Seeing the color begin to return to Mu Qing’s face, Luo Li breathed a sigh of relief, her expression softening.

”Senior Sister, how are you feeling?” Luo Li turned her head to ask Su Wanyi.

”The powder had a slight effect, but now that we’re at the Heavenly Mechanism Tower, it’s gradually waning,” Su Wanyi said softly after assessing her condition.

”Mm!” Luo Li nodded.

The three siblings—Luo Li, Su Wanyi, and Jun Moxiao—exchanged a knowing glance.

It was thanks to the Ancestral Dragon Essence Blood, with which the Ancestor had altered their physiques, that they now each possessed about ten percent purity. That’s why they could resist the toxins spread by these strange creatures.

”How are you?” Luo Li asked Big Black Cat with concern.

”The Ghost Moth’s powder affects me, but only slightly,” Big Black Cat replied after assessing his condition.

”That’s good.” Luo Li nodded, finally relieved.

Now she truly understood the Ancestor’s earlier warnings. The Gloomy Ancient Land was indeed exceedingly dangerous. Regardless of a cultivator’s strength, even Life-Death Realm Powerhouses would find it difficult to withstand the attacks of these bizarre creatures.
