Chapter 323: Chapter 323: Monkey that loves to eat elixir

”It will take that long?” Jun Moxiao exclaimed, taken aback by Lei Qinian’s words.

”Yes! So, there’s no need for you to be too anxious. This trial in the Heavenly Moon Secret Region will take at least a month,” Lei Qinian said with a smile.

”Alright,” Jun Moxiao nodded.

”As one of the four major powers in the Heavenly Moon Dynasty, the Xuanyang Sect always retaliates in kind. Brother Jun, since you’ve injured one of their disciples this time, I fear they won’t rest until they get even. Therefore, we must be doubly careful in the coming days,” Lei Qinian spoke gravely as he gazed at the undulating mountain range in the distance.

”Brother Lei, I understand,” Jun Moxiao said.

CHATTER! CHATTER! CHATTER! CHATTER!

Suddenly, a cacophony of sharp, discordant noises erupted from the distant forest.

Lei Qinian’s expression changed slightly. ”Oh no! There are a lot of monkeys over there!”

Both of them quickly stood up, only to see dozens of monkeys emerging from a nearby patch of jungle.

These monkeys were covered in black fur, each wielding a stick, chattering wildly as they charged towards them. Their targets were precisely the two of them.

Jun Moxiao drew his sword.

Lei Qinian held him back, saying in a low voice, ”Brother Jun, don’t be impulsive. I have a pill here. Hopefully, we can bluff our way through. After all, there are too many monkeys this time, and the two of us alone may not be able to fend them off.”

Seeing how seriously Lei Qinian regarded these monkeys, Jun Moxiao reluctantly nodded and sheathed his sword again.

The monkeys swarmed forward, surrounding them completely. There were a good seventy or eighty of them.

Each monkey’s cultivation base was at least at the First Level Nirvana Realm, and some had even reached the Fifth Level of Nirvana Realm.

Jun Moxiao’s facial muscles twitched. He could now understand Lei Qinian’s concern.

If so many monkeys attacked them simultaneously, even if Jun Moxiao could escape using the Divine Dragon Nine-Change Body Technique, Lei Qinian wouldn’t be able to. His ancestor had once instructed him to always team up with Lei Qinian and never go solo. So, Jun Moxiao now understood that Lei Qinian’s caution this time was correct.

Facing the monkeys, they could only try to outsmart them.

The monkeys thumped the ground with their sticks, making loud POUNDING sounds, while waving something in the air with their other hands and chattering.

Although these monkeys had high cultivation bases, they couldn’t speak human language, clearly different from the demon beasts outside.

Lei Qinian smiled at the monkeys and said, ”Brother Monkeys, no need to be hasty. I have some pills here.”

Hearing his words, the monkeys seemed to understand. They jumped about excitedly, chattering away.

Maintaining a smile, Lei Qinian took out a small bottle and tossed it to one of the monkeys.

The monkeys immediately pounced, but the strongest among them snatched the small bottle and uncorked it.

It peered inside, then poured out all the pills. There were over a hundred red pills in total.

The monkeys pounced on them excitedly. Each monkey grabbed one or two pills, stuffing them into their mouths and chattering excitedly as they chewed.

Seeing this, Lei Qinian couldn’t help but feel relieved. His ancestor had once entered the Heavenly Moon Secret Region and had written a journal detailing his experiences, even including a map drawn from memory. That was why he had specifically prepared some pills this time for these monkeys. He hoped that after the monkeys ate the pills, they would quickly leave.

After ingesting the pills, the lead monkey tossed the empty bottle aside. It licked its lips, seemingly unsatisfied, and began striking the ground repeatedly with its stick again. The other monkeys followed suit, ceaselessly beating the ground and producing a dense barrage of THUMPING sounds.

I didn’t expect these monkeys to have such big appetites, Lei Qinian thought, surprised they still wanted more pills. Generally, giving them something once was enough; these monkeys had been quite reasonable in the past.

As Lei Qinian was about to take out another bottle of pills, Jun Moxiao suddenly patted his shoulder and stepped forward.

”Brother Lei, you can’t always be the one footing the bill. Let me handle this one,” Jun Moxiao said with a chuckle.

Then, he rummaged in his God-level storage ring and took out seven or eight small bottles, tossing them to the strongest monkey.

The monkey reached out its large hand, instantly catching the bottles. It then chattered excitedly at Jun Moxiao twice. Its expression seemed to say, ”You’re a good kid!”

Jun Moxiao chuckled, cupped his fists, and spoke to the lead monkey, ”Brother Monkeys, we still need to find those Laurel Fruits. Could you let us pass?”

The lead monkey opened a bottle, glanced inside, its face lighting up with excitement. It then hopped back a few steps and pointed into the distance with its stick. The other monkeys then dispersed, clearing a path.

Seeing the monkeys finally satisfied, Jun Moxiao breathed a sigh of relief. He exchanged a look with Lei Qinian, and the two quickly departed.

Once they were a safe distance away, Lei Qinian finally burst out laughing.

”Junior Brother Jun, I had no idea you had so many pills! You’re quite the tycoon!”

”I suppose so,” Jun Moxiao said, scratching his head and laughing a little sheepishly. He had a considerable number of pills in his storage ring; he had acquired many from when he and his senior sisters constantly challenged various Sects. It’s no big deal to give some to these monkeys, he thought.

The two continued their journey.

After crossing a few mountaintops, they spotted another group of monkeys. This group was scattered beneath a giant Osmanthus tree. Some were frolicking, some were sitting and sunbathing, and others were huddled in pairs or trios, grooming lice from each other.

”Wow, so many monkeys! There must be over a hundred of them!” Jun Moxiao exclaimed, surprised by their sheer numbers.

”Junior Brother Jun, this is a thousand-year-old Heavenly Moon Osmanthus Tree,” the nearby Lei Qinian whispered, seemingly ignoring the monkeys as he pointed at the gigantic tree in the distance. ”There are quite a few fruits on it; at least seven or eight are ripe.”

Hearing Lei Qinian’s words, Jun Moxiao squinted, his gaze quickly focusing on the colossal trunk of the Heavenly Moon Osmanthus Tree.

Indeed, hidden amidst the leaves were seven or eight golden Laurel Fruits. These Laurel Fruits were a whole size larger than the hundred-year-old ones they had found earlier.

”Brother Lei, let’s go! Let’s pick those Laurel Fruits!” Jun Moxiao exclaimed, his excitement palpable as he immediately flew towards the tree.

Lei Qinian followed closely, a worried expression on his face. ”Junior Brother Jun, with so many monkeys, I’m afraid they won’t be easy to handle!”
