Chaotic Sword God

Chapter 3848: Half-man, Half-serpent

Very soon, an extremely tall and large black figure rose up behind Jian Chen, wrapped in demon Qi and radiating with malice. It was the Thousand Soul Demon Exalt!

“Impossible. I’ve seen all the people who entered the Skyscraping World. You definitely weren’t one of them. Y-you didn’t enter this place using the Skyscraping Sword Scripture,” the cloaked old man cried out. The Skyscraping World was protected by many formations. Each formation was extremely powerful, all the creations of Ninth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalts. They covered a wide range of functions, so no one could escape the detection of the formations. Even the strongest high quality god artifact could not fool them.

But right now, a stowaway was standing right in front of him, and they were an Immortal Exalt on top of that!

“I understand now. I finally understand now. Y-y-you are actually… Hahahahahahahaha, this is a fortune, a fortune for me. This is the arrangement of fate, the blessings of the heavens.” Very soon, the cloaked old man began laughing aloud. With his knowledge, he obviously knew what this implied. He immediately became so excited that his heart thumped violently like it was about to explode, making his blood surge through his veins.

“You’re on the brink of death, yet you’re still so happy. What a fool.” The Thousand Soul Demon Exalt shook his head. He turned into a cloud of surging black mist and enveloped the cloaked old man. At the same time, he communicated to Jian Chen, “Sect master, this is a Third Heavenly Layer expert. With my current strength, I can only match him in battle at most. Even heavily injuring him will be difficult. Even if I had my peak strength, I might not be able to stop him from running away, let alone right now, when my strength is nowhere close to complete recovery. As a result, I will need your help if you want to kill him, sect master.”

“A Fourth Heavenly Layer Demon Exalt? Hahaha, if you were in peak condition, I’d have to fear you a bit, but with your current state, you can’t threaten me.” The cloaked old man laughed aloud. In the next moment, the black cloak on him was ripped apart, revealing his true appearance.

He was a hunched old man. His white hair was messy like hay, covering more than half of his face. It was possible to make out all of his wrinkles through his hair.

He wore a high quality god artifact armour forged from scales. It was completely black in appearance, reflecting a chilling gleam. It seemed indestructible.

His thin, bony hands suddenly transformed. They turned into a pair of powerful, sharp claws, covered in scales.

In the next moment, his hands suddenly darted forwards, ripping at the incoming Thousand Soul Demon Exalt.

Rip!

Immediately, an ear-splitting sound rang out. A huge, pitch-black crack appeared in the surroundings like a blade, slashing towards the Thousand Soul Demon Exalt with devastating might.

The Thousand Soul Demon Exalt let out a strange laugh. He did not choose to take on the old man’s attack. Instead, he turned into black mist and dodged carefully before suddenly enveloping the cloaked old man. His terrifying power of the soul began to invade the old man’s soul.

“You still think you can mentally disturb me with your feeble soul? You’re dreaming,” the old man bellowed out. His appearance changed again. He was no longer a metre and a half tall, instantly growing to nine metres. His feet turned to claws, and a long tail grew from his backside.

In an instant, the old man turned into a half-man, half-serpent state. He possessed a serpent dragon’s body and limbs and a human’s head.

A powerful sense of vitality radiated from him as if returning to this state drastically amplified all of his abilities.

His claws swiped around viciously in the black mist. Each attack possessed surging energy. He engaged the Thousand Soul Demon Exalt.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The black mist that the Thousand Soul Demon Exalt transformed into shook violently as great rumbles rang out. He was firmly locked in battle against the old man.

After all, he had not completely recovered yet. He did not possess the battle prowess of a Fourth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt. Even with his comprehension and battle experience as a Fourth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt, he only managed to fight the old man to a stalemate.

“Back away, Thousand Soul Demon Exalt!”

But soon after they began fighting, Jian Chen bellowed out.

When he heard that, the Thousand Soul Demon Exalt did not hesitate at all. The dense demon Qi suddenly dispersed, and the old man was clearly exposed in front of Jian Chen.

However, before he could even catch his breath, supreme sword intent erupted.

When the sword intent appeared, the half-man, half-serpent old man shuddered inside. He looked at Jian Chen in some shock.

From the supreme sword intent, he could sense tremendous danger.

But to his disbelief, this sense of danger actually came from a Sixth Heavenly Layer Immortal Emperor junior.

Before he could have too much time to think about it, two dazzling streaks of light shot towards the old man.

The enemy was a Third Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt, so Jian Chen did not dare to be careless. He directly used two strands of Profound Sword Qi.

The Profound Sword Qi crossed the distance and instantly arrived near the old man’s forehead. It was unbelievably fast.

The old man’s eyes narrowed violently. In that split second, he managed to react in time. His surging energy formed a thick barrier around him. Even the scale armour he wore erupted with dark light. The pressure of a high quality god artifact filled the surroundings.

With a high quality god artifact protecting him, it would be very difficult for him to be injured even if attacks from experts at the same level as him struck him.

However, he did not know about the special characteristics of Profound Sword Qi. In the next moment, the Profound Sword Qi pierced his energy barrier, bypassed the defences of his armour, and ignored all of his attempts at protecting himself, striking his soul.

The old man shuddered violently as his face paled. Having withstood two strands of Profound Sword Qi at the same time, his soul did not have it easy. His consciousness blurred for a moment.

During that moment, his awareness of the outside world plummeted to a minimum.

“T-this is impossible. W-what is this thing?” The old man was extremely shocked. The two strands of Profound Sword Qi were nowhere near enough to heavily injure his soul, but they had managed to affect him successfully.

If it was just Jian Chen, the old man could obviously brush off the impact on his soul, as he would recover very quickly. Even if he was momentarily stunned, he still could not be injured by an Immortal Emperor.

However, the issue was there was a powerful Immortal Exalt as well!

“Hehehehe, weren’t you pretty arrogant earlier? Go on, keep being arrogant.” With a strange laugh, the Thousand Soul Demon Exalt turned into black mist and directly infiltrated the old man’s soul.

This time, the old man was no longer able to stop the Thousand Soul Demon Exalt. Immediately, the Thousand Soul Demon Exalt entered the old man’s soul and engaged him in a clash of souls.

The battlefield was in the old man’s body, which gave him the home court advantage, but the Thousand Soul Demon Exalt was an expert in this field. His understanding and usage of the soul was beyond the old man’s.

As a result, as soon as they made contact, the old man lost the upper hand.

However, that was only losing the upper hand. If the Thousand Soul Demon Exalt wanted to heavily injure or even kill the old man, it would still be an insurmountable task.
