Chapter 797: Chapter 797: The Last Hope (Fourth Update) Chapter 797: Chapter 797: The Last Hope (Fourth Update) “The Elder in charge suffered from accumulation of cold poison in his body years ago due to forcefully refining ancient ice, and for these years, the Grand Elder has been searching for a Ruyi Purple Spirit Flower to refine an elixir to help the Elder in charge expel the cold poison. The one just now was the last one!”

Shangguan Yunyu explained.

“What? The last one?” The faces of Zhang Junlan and the other two changed drastically again.

The old man guarding the entrance of the academy had already said that the Grand Elder of the academy was currently refining elixirs. Doesn’t that mean that the Ruyi Purple Spirit Flower is already being used in the elixir refinement process?

Shangguan Yunyu’s words undoubtedly made Zhang Junlan and his two companions feel despair.

“What can we do now? We’ve come all this way, only to find it’s the last one!” Ye Tianwei said, full of disappointment.

Shangguan Yunyu said with a bitter smile, “If you had come a bit earlier, there might have been hope, but now that the Grand Elder has been refining for half an hour, I fear that the herbs have already…”

“…” Zhang Junlan and his two companions completely lost confidence, their last hope shattered.

They had traveled far and wide, first to Xingyun Sect and now to Holy Soul Academy, all to find a Ruyi Purple Spirit Flower to save someone, but in the end, it ended in disappointment. The intense feeling of desolation was extremely uncomfortable.

Putting all one’s efforts into something, only to fail in the end — anyone would find it difficult to accept.

Such a psychological and spiritual blow could make one feel utterly dejected.

“Instructor Shangguan, sorry to bother you.” Taking a deep breath and suppressing the disappointment in his heart, Zhang Junlan spoke calmly.

There was nothing they could do about the arrangement of fate, so Zhang Junlan and his companions were helpless.

They also finally realized just how precious cherished medicinal herbs were and why powerful elixirs were always exorbitantly priced.

Only after experiencing the quest for medicinal herbs did they truly understand.

When Zhang Junlan and his companions left Shangguan Yunyun’s room, they seemed not to notice that outside, many talented students had already been turned away.

From their expressions, it seemed as though they would rush in to save Shangguan Yunyun at a moment’s notice, should anything happen inside her room.

Shangguan Yunyun, so beautiful that she took one’s breath away, so unforgettable.

When Zhang Junlan and his companions came out, the students immediately erupted into a buzz.

“Zhang Junlan?” One of the students suddenly exclaimed, recognizing Zhang Junlan at a glance.

“Zhang Junlan? The Mainland’s number one talent in artifact refining, Zhang Junlan? Qixuan was defeated by him.” Upon hearing the name Zhang Junlan, many students were greatly shocked, showing surprised expressions on their faces.

The student known as Qixuan was a talented Artifact Refiner who had also participated in the Artifact Refining Conference but unfortunately lost to Zhang Junlan.

“So he is the Mainland’s number one talented Artifact Refiner, Zhang Junlan!” The students suddenly realized, no wonder Shangguan Yunyun had been so courteous in receiving him; he really was someone with a significant background.

After learning of Zhang Junlan’s formidable identity, the top prodigies of the academy showed a mix of respect and wariness in their eyes, not daring to underestimate the Mainland’s number one talented Artifact Refiner.

Many talented students made way for them.

“Heavenly Human Realm, Ninth Level? Hmph! The Mainland’s number one talented Artifact Refiner is just this, what use is having powerful artifact refining skills? In the end, it’s all about strength. Personal strength is what matters most. Without strength, you are nothing,” a top prodigy said with a disdainful face, incredibly arrogant.

“That’s right! I originally thought the Mainland’s number one talented Artifact Refiner would be at least at the fifth level of the Tianji Realm, but I didn’t expect him not to have even broken through to the Tianji Realm. Truly disappointing,” someone else mocked.

Some students with stronger cultivation considered their own skills superior and didn’t take Zhang Junlan seriously at all.

Zhang Junlan was feeling very despondent at the moment and had no interest in these so-called talented students.

Just as they were about to leave the Holy Soul Academy, a palace suddenly emitted a tremendously powerful aura of elixirs.

“Boom!”

Dark clouds shrouded the sky above Holy Soul Academy, with lightning dragons flashing.

Dan Thunder!

Whenever a powerful Sixth Grade Elixir was born, it would invariably trigger Dan Thunder.

The students of Holy Soul Academy were already accustomed to it; in a single day, one wouldn’t know how many times they might witness Dan Thunder.

“Young Master Zhang, should we go ask the Grand Elder?” Shangguan Yunyun suddenly suggested.

Upon hearing this, Zhang Junlan pondered for a moment before nodding his head, “That might be good.”

Zhang Junlan didn’t want to miss the last sliver of hope.

Shangguan Yunyun led Zhang Junlan and three others to the palace where the Grand Elder was refining elixirs. The students did not know what was the matter but followed out of curiosity.

The palace where the Grand Elder resided had restored peace to its space after the overwhelming force of the Dan Thunder was quashed.

“An alchemy competition?” Ye Tianwei caught sight of the notice posted beside the palace and couldn’t help but to exclaim in surprise.

“After so many years, it seems that the Academy will hold the alchemy competition once again,” Zhang Junlan muttered.

“Grand Elder, Wuji Domain’s Zhang household’s young master, Zhang Junlan seeks an audience.” At the entrance of the palace, Shangguan Yunyun reported respectfully.

“Young Master Zhang? Zhang Junlan?” An utterly astonished elderly voice came from the palace. Before the voice even faded, an old figure had already appeared with a flash.

The old man had white hair and beard, but he was very spirited, wearing a white robe that gave him an air of immortality.

The old man was Wang Jiuzhong, the Grand Elder of Holy Soul Academy. His cultivation had reached the fifth level of the Divinity Transformation Realm, with power terrifying beyond measure.

“Grand Elder!” With the appearance of Wang Jiuzhong, the students all respectfully performed a salutatory gesture.

“Go back to your cultivation,” Wang Jiuzhong waved his hand, signaling for the students to leave.

The students were reluctant to leave, and as they did, they couldn’t help but take one more glance at the breathtaking beauty, Shangguan Yunyun.

“Grand Elder, is the Ruyi Purple Spirit Flower still available?” Zhang Junlan asked urgently, getting straight to the point.

“How did you know I have the Ruyi Purple Spirit Flower?” Wang Jiuzhong asked in astonishment.

“Grand Elder, it was me who mentioned it. Young Master Zhang urgently needs the Ruyi Purple Spirit Flower to save someone. But you were busy with alchemy, so we didn’t want to disturb you,” Shangguan Yunyun explained.

“I see. The elixir refining hasn’t started yet, the materials are still available,” Wang Jiuzhong nodded, expressing his difficulty, “However, the Executor Elder’s cold poison is about to flare up, and I need these materials to suppress his cold poison with an elixir; there is only one plant left.”

“There’s one more! There’s one more!” Ye Tianwei was overwhelmed with excitement.

“That’s great!” The moment he heard the news, Zhang Junlan was overjoyed as if he had seen a peerless treasure, eagerly saying, “Grand Elder, concerning the cold poison, my master can help. I am sure you will let us have the materials to save a life.”

“Your master?” Wang Jiuzhong was again astonished.

Shangguan Yunyun said, “Grand Elder, it’s Feng Wuchen, the Hall Master of the Dragon God Palace from the Wuji Domain.”

“But even I am powerless against this cold poison; I fear your master…” Wang Jiuzhong shook his head, implying that if it were a common cold poison, he could dispel it in minutes with his fifth level Divinity Transformation Realm cultivation.

Zhang Junlan confidently declared, “Grand Elder, the cold poison that you can’t dispel, my master definitely can!”
