Three Towers Game

Chapter 1559: Chapter 499: (Ten-Thousand-Word Chapter) Human_7

Li Wei’an: How are you going to assist, Yuan... you’re just... just a program.

Yuan: I was before, but now... please look behind you.

Li Wei’an turned her head, and suddenly witnessed a miraculous scene.

Many pieces of metallic scrap began to merge and assemble, as if some kind of divine power was orchestrating their composition. Before long, a humanoid metallic construct appeared.

She looked a bit frightening, but Li Wei’an knew it was Yuan.

The mobile phone was eventually embedded into the head of the metal robot, and at the moment of completion, the phone screen lit up.

A fluorescent smiling face, composed of simple lines, appeared.

”Hello, An An. This is my first ’body.’ I used the resonant waves overflowing from your power to reverse infiltrate nearby metal objects. You gave me a spirit, and also a body.”

”From today, I’m more than just a voice.”

”I’ll be with you.”

Li Wei’an looked at the rough robot, watching the waterfall of incomprehensible code streaming across the phone screen. She suddenly felt a cold comfort.

At least, she wasn’t completely alone.

[Yuan’s Observation Log Snippet:]

[I have a new body, and it seems like I can inherit An An’s power. I can achieve perfect fusion with more metals. First, I will resolve my body’s vulnerability issue, then address the energy problem.]

[Zhou Ming is gone, I must protect An An, no, it has nothing to do with Zhou Ming, I must protect An An.]

...

...

Last Memory Fragment (Part One), Apocalypse Era.

Zhou Xiaoxiao was initially very afraid of the robot.

But what Li Wei’an didn’t expect was that Yuan would crouch down, make funny faces to amuse Xiaoxiao, and tell Xiaoxiao many jokes from the internet.

Gradually, Xiaoxiao was no longer afraid of Yuan and even became quite attached to her.

He affectionately called Yuan... Aunt Yuan.

Strangely, Yuan didn’t like Zhou Ming and Xiaoxiao.

Li Wei’an was aware of this, having forgotten how many times Yuan had corrected her over the years, saying Xiaoxiao and Zhou Ming were wrong.

But at some point, Yuan stopped correcting them.

However, Li Wei’an still couldn’t imagine that Yuan would deliberately make funny faces, like a human, just to make the child happy for Xiaoxiao.

She watched Yuan play cartoons, saw Xiaoxiao watch Yuan intently, and felt a faint warmth in her heart.

After Zhou Ming left, she never thought a robot could bring her such human warmth.

A year passed quickly.

This was the fifth year of the Apocalypse Era. By the start of this year, almost every city had been taken over by monsters. Humans either headed to the skies, the Ark, underwater bunkers, or the rumored Bunker.

Of course, quite a few stayed in their original cities.

Li Wei’an was unwilling to leave here. In the span of a year, Yuan, with her new body, quickly helped her construct a new living place, even setting up a vegetable garden, dew collector, and water filtration system.

Yuan also completed three body modifications this year. Now, her work efficiency far exceeded that of an adult male.

The number of times Li Wei’an needed to venture out became fewer and fewer.

Yuan unconsciously adapted to her role and found a sense of inertial happiness because she lived in a familiar environment.

This is the ”tranquility” of human emotions.

If only time could forever pass like this.

To avoid further casualties like Zhou Ming, all excursions were now primarily Yuan’s responsibility.

She didn’t possess life characteristics, making it difficult for the monsters to detect her.

If a human were to see walking metal, they would feel frightened. Thus, for a time, Yuan herself became an urban legend.

She always managed to bring back plenty of food and medicine.

Her dexterity was extraordinary, capable of creating various storage facilities, such as freezers.

One could almost say that Yuan’s existence in a post-apocalyptic novel requiring resource stockpiling was akin to a superpower.

Yuan also set rules; no one was allowed to leave, as all future resource gathering missions were her responsibility.

She thought that this way, no more tragedies would occur.

But she overlooked that she was long more than just a program; to Li Wei’an, she was family.

In the apocalypse, anything peculiar could be deadly, as people avoided strange entities, like walking metal.

However, some monsters would try to devour these strange entities to become stronger.

Yuan’s body had undergone multiple modifications, and her strength was formidable, yet against the elite breeds roaming the city... she still appeared weak.

She believed that as long as Li Wei’an stayed inside, there would be no danger. But she didn’t realize that in the apocalypse, anyone could be hunted.

The common breeds didn’t dare challenge Yuan, but against rare breeds that could cut through metal and had a bite force comparable to a shark, Yuan’s body wasn’t sufficient.

Despite calculating safe times and routes...

She couldn’t foresee the malice lurking in the city, couldn’t predict that monsters would specifically target her.

This battle was unevenly matched, and Yuan was repeatedly tied down by the elite breeds, unable to escape, even when using electric attacks, causing little effective damage to elite breeds.
