She Came to Heal, Stayed to Conquer

Inside Brocade Workshop, the nobles were selecting clothes and fabrics.

Wei Chengchao was standing in the center of the hall, surrounded by several merchants offering congratulations, trying to discuss some business about purchasing goods from Brocade Workshop.

Han Lei strolled in, fanning herself. She acted like a regular customer, browsing around while searching for the Champion Marquis’s family.

Perhaps the Champion Marquis found it too crowded inside and decided not to join the hustle and bustle.

After a lap around, Han Lei only saw Princess Changle and her mother excitedly picking out clothes.

Han Lei waited quietly, until Princess Changle and her mother happened to be near Wei Chengchao, then she walked over to him, waving her folding fan, and saluted.

”Hey! Mr. Wei, congratulations!” Han Lei said in a raspy voice.

Wei Chengchao turned around, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, as he seemed not to recognize this lavishly dressed little plump figure in front of him.

However, since this person came to offer congratulations, regardless of whether they knew each other, he naturally had to reciprocate with some polite words.

”Uh...brother, you are too kind. There are many people today, sorry for not attending to you well. Please forgive me.”

Han Lei didn’t mind, laughed it off, and familiarly placed her hand on Wei Chengchao’s shoulder, looking like best buddies.

”Hahaha, a lot of people means Mr. Wei’s business is booming, these goods are very popular. I, not being very talented, would like to talk with Mr. Wei about purchasing some goods from you to sell back in my hometown.”

Han Lei was naturally not as tall as the man Wei Chengchao.

As she spoke, she tiptoed and wrapped her arm around Wei Chengchao’s shoulder, pulling him towards Princess Changle and her mother, accidentally bumping into the Champion Marquis’s wife.

Wei Chengchao was bewildered, but hearing this little plump figure was also here to talk business, he naturally started chatting with him.

The Champion Marquis’s wife, after being bumped, instinctively turned her head to see Wei Chengchao and a man chatting closely.

She pursed her lips, continued to pick out clothes, not paying attention to what they were talking about.

Once Han Lei was sure both Princess Changle and her mother saw her ”intimate conversation” with Wei Chengchao, she casually raised her hand and touched her head.

Almost at the same time, she heard Da Jiu’s voice in her ear.

”Oh my! Mr. Wei, so sorry I’m late. Congratulations!”

Da Jiu cheerfully clasped his hands, emerging from the crowd in front of Wei Chengchao.

”You...why are you here?”

Upon seeing Da Jiu, Wei Chengchao’s face changed instantly.

Usually, Da Jiu would meet him in private, either to provide antidotes or relay messages from his grand aunt, never appearing openly in front of others.

But today, why did Da Jiu suddenly show up here?

Without time to figure out the reason, Wei Chengchao, looking tense, checked around to ensure no one noticed them, then hurriedly pulled Da Jiu outside.

Meanwhile, Han Lei smiled subtly, as if just now discovering Princess Changle and her mother, greeted them with delight.

”Hey! Isn’t this Princess Changle? You’re shopping at Brocade Workshop today too?”

Princess Changle, holding the Champion Marquis’s wife’s arm, was selecting a pair of Mary Sue shoes to match some civilized attire. Hearing Han Lei’s greeting, she turned her head.

”Hey? Mr. Wei, what are you doing here too?” Princess Changle asked with some surprise.

The other day, on the way to the Mandarin Duck Pin, Princess Changle’s carriage had hit someone, and she went with Han Lei to the Mandarin Duck Pin together. That day, she discovered Han Lei was Wei Chengchao’s cousin.

Han Lei pointed to Wei Chengchao, who was pulling Da Jiu outside, her expression somewhat helpless.

”Well, Brocade Workshop is too busy today, and my cousin dragged me here to help.”

”Ah!” Princess Changle nodded. ”Indeed, it is quite crowded here today.”

Han Lei’s eyes fell upon the Champion Marquis’s wife, and she asked, ”Commandery Princess, who is this lady?”

”This is my mother.”

Princess Changle affectionately leaned her head on the Champion Marquis’s wife’s arm.

”Oh!”

Han Lei exaggerated the exclamation, then eyed the Champion Marquis’s wife up and down, disbelief tinged her voice.

”So this is Aunt! You’re so young, I thought you were the commandery princess’s sister!”

The Champion Marquis’s wife was so flattered by Han Lei’s compliments that she covered her mouth and chuckled, then turned to ask Princess Changle.

”Changle, who is this young man? He’s quite complimentary.”

Princess Changle replied, ”He’s the nephew of Prime Minister Wei, Wei Chengchao’s cousin, here in the Capital City to learn business from Wei Chengchao.”
