Immortal Sword Master

Chapter 242: Chapter 238: Duel with the Twin Sword Sons

Ning Jiang, Jian Xinghe, and the Twin Sword Sons.

These three would compete for the final top-three rankings.

”A clash of titans. It’s finally about to happen. I can’t wait.”

”In the last Qing Province Conference, Jian Xinghe sat firmly in first place. This year, we have Ning Jiang. I wonder if he can challenge his position?”

”According to the rules, since Jian Xinghe was last year’s champion, he gets a bye in this three-way fight. He’ll battle the winner of the match between the Twin Sword Sons and Ning Jiang.”

Most people were familiar with the rules of the Qing Province Conference.

”We’ve finally reached this point.”

The Elders of the Yanyue Sect all felt a sense of tension.

Even though they weren’t the ones competing, Ning Jiang was representing their Yanyue Sect.

”No matter what, the Ninth Elder has already bolstered the Yanyue Sect’s prestige. All we can do now is trust in the Ninth Elder. Trust that he will work a miracle!” Grand Elder Meng Nanfeng said, his words deliberate and firm.

”Heh heh, what a great atmosphere.”

Ge Changming looked around, feeling the electric atmosphere. He wasted no more time and announced loudly, ”Ning Jiang, Twin Sword Sons, you may begin.”

SWOOSH! SWOOSH!

The moment his voice fell, the Twin Sword Sons transformed into two streaks of sword light and landed on the arena stage.

Then, their gazes fell upon Ning Jiang. ”Ning Jiang, your appearance at this Qing Province Conference was an accident. We admit you’re strong, but you will fall to our swords!”

The Twin Sword Sons drew their Treasure Swords, pointing them at Ning Jiang.

A sharp Sword Qi emanated from their bodies, spreading rapidly until it covered the entire stage.

At this moment, anyone who stepped onto the stage would surely feel uncomfortable and oppressed.

The clash had already begun!

But Ning Jiang took a single step and landed on the stage.

Instantly, the air around him became calm and tranquil, and the sharp, murderous atmosphere completely receded.

”Swords? As it happens, I know a little something about them.”

Before everyone’s astonished eyes, Ning Jiang drew the Ice Soul Sword. Its blade was a crystalline white, and the section of spinal bone within it was clearly visible.

”Huh? Ning Jiang is a Sword Cultivator, too?”

”Even if he is, how could he possibly be stronger than the Twin Sword Sons?”

Everyone was shocked to see Ning Jiang draw a sword.

In their minds, Ning Jiang’s strength lay in two areas: his physique and his cultivation of the Thunder Attribute.

His Purple Thunder was incredibly tyrannical. There were quite a few cultivators present who practiced thunder and lightning techniques, but compared to Ning Jiang’s Purple Thunder, the gap was immediately apparent.

”Are you sure you want to use a sword against us? We’d advise you not to try and teach an expert. You’ll only humiliate yourself.”

The Twin Sword Sons spoke with pride. As members of the Star Sword Sect, they had every right to say such things.

When it came to the Sword Dao in all of Qing Province, the Star Sword Sect was number one.

”Is that so?”

Ning Jiang raised an eyebrow slightly. Suddenly, his entire aura changed.

If, at first, he had seemed simple and placid, making it impossible for anyone to guess from his calm demeanor that he was a Sword Cultivator, then at this moment, he was like a drawn Treasure Sword—unleashed and sharp. His entire body radiated an unparalleled Sword Qi, a killing edge ready to draw blood at any moment, and a will that looked down on all creation.

’He’s strong!’

Instantly, the Twin Sword Sons cast aside their disdain, their pupils constricting sharply.

For Top Level Sword Cultivators like them, sometimes an exchange of blows wasn’t necessary. Just by sensing an opponent’s aura, or even through a single glance, they could gauge their strength.

If they had to use one word to describe the Ning Jiang before them now, it would be ”ocean.”

When the ocean is calm, it is placid and still. But when it rages, it can summon monstrous waves that drown everything.

Wave after wave of pressure rolled off Ning Jiang, crushing down on them and striking at their very souls, making them feel immense pressure.

”Good. Very good. Ning Jiang, we truly underestimated you. But that’s even better. The stronger you are, the more meaningful it will be to defeat you!”

The Twin Sword Sons’ eyes grew cold as they struck with their swords in unison.

”Star Pointing Seven Kill Sword, Third Kill!”

They started with a move like the Third Kill, with no probing attacks, which was enough to show how seriously they were taking Ning Jiang.

SHING!

Two points of starlight thrust out, incomparably sharp.

TING!

Ning Jiang’s arm trembled as he slashed out with his sword, shattering both of their Third Kills with ease.

”Fourth Kill.”

SWOOSH!

The Fourth Kill followed, its power doubled. The might of the Fourth Kill alone was enough to slay newly-risen young titans.

CLANG!

The sound of metal striking metal rang out.

Ning Jiang lifted his sword and shattered the Fourth Kill.

”Fifth Kill!”

The power of the Fifth Kill increased once more. Two streaks of starlight shot down like falling meteors, imbued with an immense piercing power.

However, this sharp technique was still useless against Ning Jiang. He broke it with a single sword strike.

”Given Ning Jiang’s strength, it’s expected that he could block the Fifth Kill. The real question is whether he can handle the Sixth Kill.”

The surrounding crowd was full of anticipation. The power of the Sixth Kill, All Stars, was plain for all to see. It was considered unstoppable. Even powerful figures like Li Kuangba and his group had all been defeated by this one move.

”Sixth Kill!”

The Twin Sword Sons let out a long cry as they moved with their swords, soaring into the air.

They hovered in mid-air, their Treasure Swords thrusting downward with incredible speed, striking hundreds of times in the blink of an eye.

CH-CH-CH-CH—

Countless thin, long streams of Sword Aura shot forth, like a dazzling shower of brilliant stars.

Everyone watched Ning Jiang. How would he block this attack?

”Four Seasons Sword Technique, Spring Birth.”

Ning Jiang’s expression was calm. He executed the Sword Technique slowly. It looked unhurried, but in reality, it flowed like water, endlessly regenerating.

Waves of azure light emerged from his Sword Technique. In that instant, the Twin Sword Sons felt as if they had been transported to a vibrant spring, with grass growing and birds taking flight.

The air smelled of fresh earth, and small blades of grass sprouted from the ground.

The shower of stars descended, but all the Sword Auras vanished without a trace, like clay oxen entering the sea.

”What?!”

The Twin Sword Sons were stunned, their faces filled with disbelief.

The onlookers also stared at Ning Jiang in shock. That Sword Technique, which seemed as gentle as a light breeze and a soft rain, had actually broken the tyrannical All Stars attack?

”I don’t believe it.”

The Twin Sword Sons refused to accept it and once again used All Stars to attack Ning Jiang.

But Ning Jiang’s expression remained unchanged. He continued to slowly swing his sword, the unending azure light rising to neutralize the All Stars.

”This...”

Blocking it once could be attributed to luck, but this second time, the Twin Sword Sons had no choice but to believe it.

”What is this Sword Technique?” the Twin Sword Sons demanded, staring fixedly at Ning Jiang.

”Four Seasons Sword Technique.”

Ning Jiang replied nonchalantly. The Four Seasons Sword Technique was a Spirit Level Sword Skill.

Techniques he had used before, like the Instant Sword Technique or the Great Sun Sword Technique, were no longer suitable. Those were Profound Level Sword Techniques with limited power.

But this Four Seasons Sword Technique had been quite famous a hundred thousand years ago. It came from a Great Sect of Sword Dao, one that was hundreds of times stronger than the Star Sword Sect.

This move, Spring Birth, symbolized spring, the first of the four seasons. Spring represents inclusiveness, vastness, and endless renewal.

”This Ning Jiang is incredible. If the Twin Sword Sons can’t even touch him with the Sixth Kill, doesn’t that mean Ning Jiang has already won?”

”Not necessarily. Look at the Twin Sword Sons’ expressions. They probably still have a trump card up their sleeves.”

The Twin Sword Sons hovered in the air, their expressions grim. ”Ning Jiang, we truly didn’t expect your Swordsmanship to be so exquisite. We underestimated you on that front. However, you are about to be defeated. You should feel honored to be the first person to witness the Seventh Kill of the Star Pointing Seven Kill Sword!”

The Star Pointing Seven Kill Sword, Seventh Kill.

As soon as those words were spoken, an uproar swept through the surroundings.

”They’re insane! At the last Qing Province Conference, the Twin Sword Sons had only mastered the first five kills. This time, they’ve actually mastered the Seventh Kill!”

”Huh? They even mastered the Seventh Kill?”

The Elders of the Star Sword Sect looked at each other in dismay. They hadn’t known about this either.

”Generally speaking, only experts who have stepped into the Primordial Spirit Fourth Tribulation Realm can master the Seventh Kill. Since the Twin Sword Sons were able to master this move, their chances of winning this battle are over ninety percent,” a few Elders concluded.

”If you surrender now, you still have a chance. Otherwise, once the Seventh Kill is unleashed, even we can’t control it. Don’t blame us if you end up dead.”

The Twin Sword Sons said coldly. They wouldn’t have brought out this move unless they had no other choice.

This technique was too powerful, and their mastery of it was still imperfect.

”The ones who will be defeated are you,” Ning Jiang said, shaking his head.

”You overestimate yourself. In that case, we’ll let you witness the power of the Seventh Kill—Star Shatter!”

With a flick of their longswords, the Twin Sword Sons shot forward. The very air shattered before their attack. Their speed was so great that it surpassed the reaction time of the naked eye.

However, the burden of executing this technique was immense. Both of their faces flushed red, and blood began to trickle from their Seven Apertures.

It was like an Aurora streaking across the sky, a single thrust that could tear and shatter the very stars.

The Twin Sword Sons were confident this strike would be enough to finish Ning Jiang.

”The second sword of the Four Seasons Sword Technique should be enough to defeat you.”

Ning Jiang was unconcerned, remaining perfectly calm as he changed his Sword Technique.

”Summer’s Glory.”

Spring Birth, Summer’s Glory, Autumn Withered, Winter’s End. This was a complete set of Sword Techniques, and Summer’s Glory was the second sword of the Four Seasons Sword Technique.

The first sword, Spring Birth, focused on defense and inclusiveness. This move, Summer’s Glory, was for offense and slaughter.

The atmosphere changed in an instant.

The Twin Sword Sons suddenly felt as if they had arrived in summer. A scorching sun hung high in the sky, its fiery heat baking the earth dry.

They could even hear the chirping of cicadas all around them.

From within Ning Jiang’s sword strike, streams of azure energy rose up, eventually forming azure lotuses that shot toward them.

The lotus is a flower that blooms in summer.

Those azure lotuses were beautiful and flawless, rising from the mud unstained, but they concealed a terrifying killing intent.

BANG.

The azure lotuses seemed to possess no power, yet they neutralized the Twin Sword Sons’ Seventh Kill and continued onward to strike their bodies.

PTHOO!

The Twin Sword Sons spat out a mouthful of blood as their bodies were sent flying off the arena stage.

”How is that possible?”

The numerous Elders of the Star Sword Sect were suddenly shaken and shot to their feet.

The many other sects let out a collective sigh. ”The Yanyue Sect... its fate was not to be extinguished after all.”
