Beauty and Might: Heavenly Flames

Yan Tian sank to his knees, trembling. His cousin, his friends, his family—every bond he had clung to was gone in an instant. What remained was only emptiness, and the fragile thread that kept his soul from vanishing.

The celestial lady watched in silence, her radiant form dimming with the weight of his sorrow.

For a long moment, she let him grieve.

Then, slowly, she stepped closer, her light wrapping around him like a quiet embrace. Her hand rested gently on his shoulder, warm against the cold void threatening to swallow him.

”I cannot undo what has been done,” she said softly, her voice steady but tender. ”But I can offer you something.”

Yan Tian lifted his gaze, eyes glistening, searching her face desperately for even a spark of hope.

”I can resurrect your body,” she continued, her tone solemn. ”I can resurrect it in perfect condition. I can also sustain your soul in its weakened state for a few years, giving you time to live.”

Her expression faltered slightly, sorrow flickering in her radiant eyes. ”But there are limits. You will not be able to cultivate. I have sealed your darkness element and cultivation meridians because your soul is far too weak to endure the strain of cultivation.”

”Even so, I will do everything within my power. Resurrecting the soul is far more difficult, even for me—delicate, dangerous, uncertain.”

Her hand lingered on his shoulder, her voice carrying both promise… and warning. ”I’ll help you fulfill your wish — if it’s within my power.”

Yan Tian’s lips trembled. A fragile flicker of determination sparked within him, colliding with despair. A chance, however faint, to live again…

But her voice deepened with gravity. ”One more thing, child. Don’t go back to your family. Not yet. Your element affinity remains a truth that cannot be hidden forever. If the empire’s elite discover you survived, not only your life but your family’s will be endangered.”

The words struck him like a blade. His chest tightened, breath faltering. To live, yet remain apart from the very people he longed to protect… What kind of life would that be?

His thoughts spun wildly. Could he still fight for his life, however small the chance? Or was this truly the end of everything he had ever known?

But what about his family? He couldn’t see them—doing so would only endanger them.

What about Yan Fei? The promise he had made to her… would it remain unfulfilled?

He fell into silence, drowning in thoughts too heavy for words. His soul wavered, caught between despair and a fragile hope that refused to die like this. ”…I want to see them, even if only once more in secret.”

Then, suddenly, the celestial lady’s expression shifted. Her glow trembled faintly. ”Something is happening outside,” she said, her voice touched with quiet urgency. ”I must go. I’ll return shortly.”

Before Yan Tian could respond, her glowing form dissolved into mist, vanishing from his spiritual consciousness.

Alone once more, Yan Tian stood in the vast, silent sea of his inner world—his heart heavy, his soul trembling, with only questions and the faintest ember of hope to keep him from breaking.

In the real world, the celestial lady opened her eyes and stepped back, her gaze sweeping over the other children who still lay unconscious on the stone beds. Then, tilting her head, she sensed something unusual.

Her eyes lifted toward the sky. A strange yet breathtaking phenomenon unfolded above.

A golden glow, vibrant and radiant, spread among the clouds, casting a warm light into the dark pit. The sky shimmered as if alive, and then—a streak of brilliance tore through the sky, plunging toward the abyss like divine fire.

The celestial lady’s breath caught. Her wide eyes tracked the golden streak as it pierced the clouds, descending straight toward the abyss. In the blink of an eye, it struck, slipping into the depths of the pit before she could even lift her hand to react.

The light found Yan Tian.

Without pause, without resistance, the radiance plunged into his body and vanished.

Hovering only a few feet away, the celestial lady froze.

”What… was that?” she whispered, barely audible.

Yan Tian remained unconscious, floating peacefully, his body seemingly unchanged. Yet she could sense it—something deep within him had shifted.

Something powerful and mysterious had intertwined with his essence, altering his fate in ways she could not yet grasp.

Her eyes narrowed. She drifted closer, her gaze sharp and searching. But there was nothing outwardly visible. The golden light had vanished into the depths of his being, hidden beyond her visual reach.

”This child…” her voice quivered with awe, almost disbelief. ”How could something strange happen to him again?”

For the first time in her long existence, the celestial lady felt at a loss. She had inherited countless memories, witnessed wonders, and seen the rise and fall of powers across ages—but this golden light was unlike anything in her vast knowledge.

Her unease sharpened into something heavier. First, his rare, Superior Level affinity of the darkness element. And now this mysterious radiance. It was no coincidence. Something extraordinary was unfolding—something beyond even her understanding.

Her thoughts raced. What was that light? Why him, out of all the children? Had she missed something hidden in his soul during her earlier examination?

She lingered in silence, caught between awe and apprehension. Then, steeling herself, she reached out and rested a glowing palm upon Yan Tian’s forehead.

Her mind brimmed with questions, but only by probing deeper could she hope for answers.

Drawing a steadying breath, she closed her eyes, letting her power seep into his body. Her energy traced the threads of his Qi, sinking toward the core of his soul.

At first, all seemed normal. His body, though weak, was intact. His Qi channels were dim but unbroken. She delved further, beyond the surface of his essence—then froze.

Her eyes snapped open, shock flashing like lightning across her serene face. ”No…” she whispered, voice trembling. ”How is this possible?”

Her fingers trembled as she stepped back from Yan Tian’s unconscious form. Words escaped her in a hushed, trembling whisper. ”There are… two souls within this boy’s body?”

Her heart raced. The existence of two souls within a single body was nearly impossible—something unheard of, even in the vast, mysterious universe she had memories of. Her mind reeled, trying to piece it together.

The realization struck with the weight of a thousand thoughts, and she tried to piece together what she had just witnessed.

”Don’t tell me… that golden light… it was a soul?” she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Could it be that a mysterious soul had merged with Yan Tian’s body just as his own soul was fading?

She drew a steady breath, forcing her composure back. Answers. She needed answers.

Closing her eyes, she reached deeper into Yan Tian’s soul, searching for the foreign presence that had entered his body.

To her surprise, there was no clash, no rejection—only harmony. The two souls coexisted in perfect balance, as though they had always belonged together.

Yet she could feel it; the foreign soul was far stronger than that of any ordinary human cultivator she had seen.

Her eyes opened, troubled. This was far more complicated than she had anticipated. More dangerous, more extraordinary. Without hesitation, she closed her eyes once more and sent her soul body into Yan Tian’s spiritual consciousness.

In an instant, the tranquil, spiritual sea of Yan Tian’s inner world appeared before her. His soul form stood fragile, yet upright.

As she appeared before him, his eyes filled with confusion and curiosity.

”What happened outside?” Yan Tian asked, his voice soft but edged with unease.

The celestial lady’s gaze swept over his spiritual sea, searching for the presence of the mysterious soul. She could sense it, but it lingered just out of sight, hidden beneath the surface.

After a moment, she turned back to him. ”I just witnessed a miracle.”

Yan Tian’s brows furrowed. ”Miracle? What do you mean?”

Her lips pressed together. She weighed her words carefully, but in the end, there was no gentler way to put it. ”A golden light descended from the sky and entered your body.”

”It wasn’t energy—it was a soul. Another soul has merged with your body. Even now, I struggle to believe it, though I saw it with my own eyes.”

Yan Tian blinked, his confusion deepening. ”Another soul? Why me? What does that even mean?”

She shook her head, her expression tinged with both awe and concern. ”I don’t know why it chose you, nor what its purpose may be. But right now, the two souls—yours and the one that entered—are coexisting without conflict. That alone is… unthinkable.”

After a pause, she added solemnly, ”This is something beyond even my understanding… and it could alter your fate in unimaginable ways.”

Silence fell. Yan Tian stood frozen, her words crashing against his thoughts like waves.

Another soul inside him? What did it mean for his future—his very existence? His fate, already fragile and uncertain, had just become entangled in a mystery deeper than he could fathom.

The celestial lady watched him, sensing the gravity of the moment. Whatever was happening, it was far from over. And this boy, Yan Tian, was at the center of it all.

And then, the silence was shattered.

The sea of consciousness trembled as a crack split open in the calm expanse. A brilliant golden radiance spilled out, flooding the horizon. Yan Tian and the celestial lady both turned toward it as the crack sealed itself again, leaving behind a golden light.

The light twisted and shifted, taking form. A man emerged a few feet away, floating above the spiritual sea, bathed in a golden glow.

He appeared to be in his late thirties, with neat black hair and a composed expression. His eyes remained closed, as though in deep sleep.

But it was his clothes that made both Yan Tian and the celestial lady freeze—strange garments utterly foreign to this world: blue trousers, a white shirt, a blue tie, and a long matching coat—clothes utterly foreign to this world.

The figure stood tall, about 179 cm, radiating a calm yet inscrutable presence. The golden light still wrapped around his figure, exuding a calm yet mysterious aura.

The celestial lady broke the silence first, her tone hushed with awe. ”This… this is the mysterious soul I mentioned earlier. I don’t know its origin. But judging by his attire, I can say with certainty—he is not from this planet.”

Yan Tian stood frozen, staring at the man floating before him. His thoughts raced, but words failed him. After a long pause, he finally spoke, his voice trembling with uncertainty. ”I don’t know what to do in this situation… Can you suggest something?”

The celestial lady closed her eyes briefly, considering her response before answering. ”I have a suggestion, but you must understand—the decision is ultimately yours.”

Yan Tian listened intently as she continued, ”As I told you before, even with my help, your soul will only last for a few years without cultivation. You won’t even have the chance to see your family again.”

Her expression hardened slightly. ”But now, with this mysterious soul having transmigrated into your body, my advice is that you let me help you handle it.”

”I believe your dreams can still be fulfilled through him. What do you think?”

Yan Tian’s brows knitted, his voice laced with unease. ”How can he agree to fulfill my dreams if this soul replaces me and takes control of my body?”

The celestial lady replied calmly but firmly, ”I will help you handle him. In the meantime, I can seal your soul, extend your existence for a few more years, and let you witness what happens after.”

”You would live on as an observer, while this mysterious soul takes control of your body. Through him, your wishes might yet be fulfilled. And later… If I find any way, I will heal your soul and resurrect a new body for you.”

”But I can’t promise that, only if I find a way to heal your soul someday. So, don’t place a high hope on this.”
