Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

Chapter 1007: Coming from the Shadows

Ohgami Benimaru’s attack caused Zhang Yi’s mind to momentarily blur.

And in that brief moment, enough time had passed for many things to happen.

For example, causing his Absolute Barrier Between Two Realms to become briefly unstable.

Ounami opened his mouth, stretching it to an unimaginable degree for a human, so wide it could have swallowed an Alaskan malamute.

Then he reached his black, wrinkled arm down his throat.

With a series of writhing motions, he painfully pulled out a sword—something that could barely be called a sword.

Perhaps it would be more accurate to say it was a long, narrow worm, resembling the lamb spine that Shengjing people love to eat in winter.

The crimson blade had clearly segmented joints and was stained with Ounami’s gastric fluids.

Unlike how others obtained their superhuman abilities.

Ounami acquired his power through parasitism.

And the thing in his hand was the bizarre mutated creature that had taken residence within his body.

”I call this the Ten Fists Sword!”

Ounami brandished the Ten Fists Sword and, moving like a ghost, closed in on Zhang Yi during the gap in his abilities.

At the same time, Christina finally caught sight of Zhang Yi.

A flash of sudden understanding appeared in Zhang Yi’s eyes.

So these guys had already planned how to deal with him.

Since when had they been preparing?

Probably ever since his battle with Baldier!

He thought that by hiding for a while, others would temporarily forget about him and focus their attention on competing for the Divine Source.

But there was no helping it—his combat achievements were too dazzling.

So much so that everyone in the joint forces feared his strength.

Therefore, each of them had no choice but to consider how to handle him when they actually encountered him.

That’s why these three were fighting with such confidence.

The black light of the Yata no Kagami shone upon him, the petrification ability of the snake-haired Medusa slowed his superhuman power activation, and right before him stood a mad god wielding the Ten Fists Sword, slashing furiously toward him! 𝘙áɴО฿Ê𝐬

This was practically a perfect trap.

General Huo En, observing the battle, had a cold smile flickering in his eyes.

”No ability is invincible! Spatial abilities are most vulnerable to sealing, aren’t they?”

But Zhang Yi couldn’t help but laugh.

Indeed, he hadn’t been wrong.

There were so many exceptional talents in this world—the heroes of the world were truly as numerous as fish in a river!

Even with his strength, if he hadn’t prepared properly, he would have suffered greatly.

It’s just... too bad.

A terrifying color shift suddenly appeared in Zhang Yi’s eyes.

He had to admit that these three opponents were extremely powerful, especially when working together—even he found them somewhat difficult to handle.

If this were his past self, he would probably be dead by now.

However, now...

His left eye became supremely dark, with pitch-black light surging like tidal waves; his right eye held infinite brightness, with space twisting, flickering unpredictably.

But just at this moment, a sudden change occurred on the battlefield.

Zhang Yi’s shadow at his feet suddenly moved.

A black figure shot out from Zhang Yi’s shadow with lightning speed.

”Clang!”

With a thunderous strike, the black figure directly collided with Ounami’s Ten Fists Sword.

The unexpected attack caught Ounami off guard, sending him flying back hundreds of meters.

The black figure didn’t fare much better either, performing several acrobatic flips in the air before gracefully landing beside Zhang Yi.

The four people present, including the two beasts locked in mortal combat, were all stunned by the sudden appearance of this superhuman.

They were all first-rate experts, yet from beginning to end, none had sensed anyone else nearby.

Just who was this black-clad figure?

But when Zhang Yi saw her attire, after his initial surprise, he revealed a meaningful smile.

His eyes regained their calm as he said lightly, ”Captain Jingwei of the Night Crow Squad. So you’ve been following me all along!”

He was too sensitive to spatial fluctuations.

So he could detect anyone approaching him.

Jingwei’s sudden appearance was definitely no coincidence.

There was only one opportunity, and just one.

That was when they departed, on Xuanwu’s body.

Only at that time could Jingwei silently infiltrate his shadow without him noticing.

Perhaps because his guard wasn’t as high back then.

The young woman before him wore a black combat suit, with silver hair smoothly framing her ears and a black eye patch covering her eyes.

Her iceberg-like face made it impossible to read any expression.

So Zhang Yi had no idea what this woman was thinking.

But he understood one thing clearly.

This woman’s stealthy presence by his side was definitely Zhu Zheng’s doing.

”Zhu Zheng, did he want you to protect me, or to monitor me?”

Zhang Yi wondered inwardly, but he quickly arrived at his own answer.

It was probably both.

Zhu Zheng knew about Zhang Yi’s lone wolf fighting style and that he wouldn’t agree to team up with others.

So having Jingwei follow him meant she could intervene at critical moments to help him fight.

However, Zhu Zheng didn’t completely trust Zhang Yi either.

Especially when facing something as important as the Divine Source, it was inevitable he would have other thoughts.

Jingwei’s surveillance would also ensure that the situation on Star Island remained under his control.

Jingwei held two black hand spikes, not answering Zhang Yi’s question, instead saying coldly:

”Whatever questions you have, save them until we’ve dealt with these people! Captain Chaos!”

Jingwei’s sudden appearance also changed the expressions of the trio.

The situation had completely changed—three against two was an entirely different matter.

Christina immediately contacted command: ”Who is this person? I need intel on her!”

Huo En’s staff had already begun emergency investigations.

But soon, the staff member replied with a somewhat troubled expression:

”This person... we have no information about her.”

”She’s never appeared on the battlefield, not even in the Jiangnan Region has she participated in any operations.”

”She might be their hidden trump card, or perhaps just a newly promoted captain.”

Christina deeply furrowed her brows upon receiving this answer.

This outcome was rather unfavorable.

Before Zhang Yi could speak, the icy Jingwei took the initiative to command the battle.

”Leave the close-combat specialist [Susanoo] to me. You handle [Amaterasu] and [Medusa].”

Zhang Yi glanced at her and said with amusement, ”Susanoo is the weakest among the three of them.”

Jingwei replied coldly, ”I know, that’s why I chose him. I can’t handle the other two either.”

Zhang Yi drew a sharp breath—if she weren’t a woman, he would have accused her of taking the easy way out while acting tough.

You admit you’re weak and you still have the nerve to say that?

Do you think you’re Cao Dahua the Tiger of the Criminal Division, or Wang Ziru the Tiger of Clams?
