What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 569: Food For Our Pirate Lord

”Are you not going to step out from that armour at all?” I asked.

We were on our way back to the previous system where we had encountered the previous Leviathan and the Pirate Lord had made a spot for himself in the corner of our cargo bay.

And even now, he was still wearing his giant Power Armour.

For the record, I was not in my Power Armour but I did have Amber accompany me a few steps behind just in case.

I even had her stay at a distance just far enough to make it look like she would not be able to rush to help me in time just to see if this guy would take advantage of that.

If he did... Let’s just say we would be throwing the remains of his Power Armour out into space.

He tilted his head down at me, ”Why would I take off the only thing that would protect me in case you decide to attack me?”

”If we wanted to kill you, we just need to open the cargo bay doors and vent you out of the ship.”

He turned to look at the loot we had stored in the cargo bay, ”And lose all this stuff along with me? I doubt it.”

”Pretty sure your bounty is worth more than all that.”

”No need to threaten me, I know you’re the type that hoards stuff so you won’t do that.”

Tsk... Am I that obvious?

He nodded at me, ”So what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at the bridge or something?”

”Well, I was thinking of letting you have one of our spare rooms to bunk in but I guess you don’t need it?”

”Why? This wouldn’t take that long, would it?”

”I mean... It’s not like the Leviathan is going to stay still right? We might need to spend some time hunting for it.”

”Hmm... That’s fine, I can just sleep here instead.”

”Do you just live in that Power Armour or something? Don’t you ever take it off?”

”Well, you can’t expect me to walk unarmed onto a ship where everyone wants to kill me, right?” He chuckled, using my own words against me.

I rolled my eyes, ”I already gave you my word we won’t attack you unless you give us a reason to, right? It would be more beneficial for us if you remain alive, after all.”

”Well forgive me for not trusting the words of a Merc.”

This guy...

I waved my hand, ”Whatever... I’m also here to ask about food. I’m going to make lunch soon so I want to know if there is anything you don’t eat? Like any food you either can’t eat or certain foods that you don’t like?”

He paused and I could tell that he was most likely still trying to process what I just said so I gave him a few moments.

”You... Make lunch? Like... As in... Actually cooking? You’re talking about just preparing synthfood, right?”

”No, I make organic food. We have organic ingredients and before you ask, yes, I know how to cook.”

The Pirate Lord remained silent for a good long minute and I was worried he fainted or something before he shifted slightly as though they just woke up.

”Ummm... Sorry, but I think the moment for you to say it was a joke is taking too long...” He muttered in a suspiciously soft voice.

It’s almost like his entire rationality just bled out of him or something.

”It’s not a joke,” I assured him. ”I do know how to cook so I need you to answer the question.”

”Is this an attempt to poison me?”

I let out a sigh, ”I already said... If we really wanted to kill you, we wouldn’t even need you to get out of that Power Armour to do that. So hurry up, my girls are waiting for me to make them food and you don’t want to know what would happen to you if they knew you were the reason I’m late.”

There was another moment of silence before he waved at me, ”It’s... It’s fine. I do have some synthfood in here so there’s no need to bother about me.”

”How about you just answer the question anyway?”

”Hmmm... I... I suppose I don’t? I mean... I’ve only been eating synthfood since I became a pirate...”

Oh right, he was supposedly part of the military or something before he became a pirate. But going by his words... That means that he has at least eaten organic food before while he was in the military? He must have been someone pretty important there then.

I wonder what happened for him to decide to become a pirate?

Anyway, since I already got the answer I needed, I gave him a nod and returned to the dining room with Amber, leaving the Pirate Lord alone once again.

Seeing that he had all the chance to attack me whenever he wanted but still did not, I guess we can trust him a little.

Amber waited until we were past the armoury before she finally spoke up, ”Are you seriously offering to cook for that guy, Tera?”

”Why not? Since he’s on our ship now, he’s a guest at the very least. And I will at least treat him like one until he gives me a reason otherwise. Besides, we are working together right now, aren’t we?”

”But he’s a pirate?”

”True, but he did show us sincerity when we went to visit him so I think this is the least that we could do. It’s just food anyway.”

”It’s not just food...”

”What?”

”Ah! Nothing! Don’t mind me!”

I wasn’t sure what she meant by that but I guess she thinks I’m being too kind or something...

Well, make no mistake, the moment this Pirate Lord even threatens my crew’s safety or looks at them the wrong way, I would definitely vent him out of the airlock without question.

Amber turned to me with a look of anticipation on her face, ”So what would you be making today?”

”Hmm... Since I’ll also be making food for him... And also for Ries who is stuck on the Bridge making sure we’re on the right path... Perhaps something that wouldn’t involve having a lot of different dishes laid out around the table... Oh! I can make a rice bowl!”

”Is that yummy?”

”Well, I guess we’ll see?”

Amber was salivating the entire time on the way to the dining room and I found Mara and Lea already seated there waiting for the food.

Damn, girls... I haven’t even started cooking yet... Chill...

Well... then again, I’m just making rice bowls so this shouldn’t take too long...

Let’s see now... I’ll just let the rice cook in the cooker there... Then prep some eggs, veggies and meat. Ah, of course I should also get some fish since Ries would definitely want them too and I can just throw them all together.

Oh, I guess while I’m at it, I could add a side of soup as well so I just need those condiments, a little bit more veggies and then some more seasoning...

Then just put them all in the cooker and in just a few moments, everything was done! All I need to do after that is to season them and then put them into individual bowls for each of us and then lunch is served~

I dropped off a bowl for each of my girls and normally they would wait for me to take the first bite but I told them to go ahead and eat first since I want to bring the Pirate Lord and Ries their food.

Not needing to be told twice, the three girls immediately started digging into the food I made and munching on the rice bowl like they had been starved for several days.

I already left some extra portions on the counter so they would be free to refill if they wanted to and I know by the time I come back, it would be empty anyway.

I left the dining room and delivered Ries her share of the rice bowl. She insisted I gave her a few kisses and some head pats as well as feeding her the first bite mouth to mouth before I could leave.

Finally, I brought the largest bowl I had prepared to the Pirate Lord, not because I was discriminating against my girls but I figured for a person that big, a normal portion was not enough.

I carried the bowl over to the cargo bay and the door slid open, revealing the Pirate Lord was still seated in the exact same spot as before.

”Don’t you even get cramps?” I asked.

He looked up, ”No way... You... Actually can cook?”

”Did you think I was a liar?”

”It’s... Really not poisoned?”

I clucked my tongue at him, ”Don’t insult me. I actually take a small bit of pride in my cooking, so here, eat it.”

He looked down at the food tray I was holding in my hands.

”You eat it.”

I rolled my eyes, ”It’s really not poisoned ok? But fine.”

I balanced the tray on one hand and picked up the spoon to take a mouthful of food from the rice bowl and the soup before looking up at him.

”Happy now?”

”I’ll... I’ll eat it after you leave, thanks...”

Right... Guess he really doesn’t want to be caught outside his Power Armour. Fine.

I left the food on top of some crates near where he was seated before leaving the cargo bay.

I’ll grant him his privacy at least.

Now back to my girls~
