What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

The four of them stood in formation, preparing themselves to attack us.

Our current position wasn’t exactly ideal since we literally had our backs against the wall and had nowhere to retreat..

Despite the fact that they were now at a disadvantage, neither Mara nor Amber looked worried for some reason.

Was it because they had some other trick up their sleeves? Or they knew some way to counter their defense against Psionics?

Or don’t tell me… They think I was able to turn this around somehow?

If they do, they would need to prepare to be disappointed because I honestly have no idea how to get us out of this one…

Still, it’s not like we have a choice except to fight now…

The leader turned invisible again and the shield guy moved in front of the other two, making sure that his shield completely covered the three of them.

The guy with the boxes on his armour revealed that the boxes contained mini ballistic turrets that popped out and started firing at us.

Mara immediately raised her hands and the bullets stopped in front of us, saving us from getting hit by the hail of lead.

I noted that the turrets were firing at different intervals so there were always at least a few of them that were shooting at us.

Why it was designed like that wasn’t clear to me until the guy with the spikes in his armour activated those spikes.

The spikes detached themselves from the armour to hover in the air around him with their tips pointed at us.

Before we could react, the spikes shot out lasers from their tips, all of them aimed at Mara.

Fortunately, her shield managed to protect her from that blast but I finally realised the tactic they were using.

The ballistic turrets were there to force the Psionic to use their telekinesis as a shield to stop the bullets from reaching them which holds them in place for the energy drones to fire lasers that the Psionic cannot stop with their telekinesis.

Even if they had a shield, they would still be stuck there as the shield would eventually be broken by those lasers and even if it did not, the leader who was invisible would be able to get close and attack them directly.

If the Psionic planned to deflect the bullets back to them, the shield from the big guy would protect them from harm as well.

Seems like they were serious about being specialised in taking down Psionics…

The good thing for our current situation was that we had two Psionics on our side and Amber was able to keep up with the leader’s movements to hold him at bay with her pistols. Also, the energy drones seem to need to recharge after every shot as the spikes returned to that guy’s armour after firing only one shot.

But it only needed like a second or two before they detached again and fired another hail of lasers at Mara, giving her shield no time to recharge fully.

I fired a few shield buster rounds at the shield bubble but their shield still showed no signs of breaking even after that.

Amber had changed her tactics where she only fires one gun at a time to keep the leader at bay. Then when it runs out of ammo, she would switch to the other pistol while reloading the first one with her telekinesis.

Even though the leader was still able to block the shots from Amber, he seemed to be unable to move past a certain distance because he would not have time to react to Amber’s shots at a closer distance.

I debated on whether I should be trying to break down the shield or helping Amber deal with the leader instead and I settled on dealing with the leader first since that threat was more immediate.

Even if Mara’s shield broke, I could take her place and shield her from the lasers so that her shield can recharge.

With that decided, I swapped out my shells for buckshot rounds and started trying to match the location of where Amber was shooting at to catch that guy.

I watched as Amber first fired upwards, then to the right, then to the front, once more at the top and then to the left…

My guess was that he should now be trying to dodge back to the centre of the corridor so I just fired in that direction.

Several sparks flew out at the edge of where I was aiming at before Amber fired another shot after me.

The leader appeared for a split second, showing him bending over in an awkward position to avoid the bullet before he leapt away again and disappeared.

Seems like that worked somewhat but we didn’t capitalise on it.

Next one then…

I watched Amber’s firing pattern once more and held my breath as I aimed down my shotgun’s sight.

The world seemed to slow down as I fully concentrated on my aim.

Amber fired once more to the side and I immediately shot another blast down the corridor.

This time, it seemed like it was a hit as the leader reappeared right in the middle of the blast and got sent flying back by the pellets.

Seems like his armour managed to protect him from the buckshot but by how he was standing, it definitely still hurt him.

Amber fired another shot aimed at his head but he managed to duck before turning invisible again.

”My shield…” Mara called out as she had to endure another laser blast coming from the drones.

I quickly moved myself in front of her to protect her but then that provided an opening for the leader.

Amber’s pistol had also ran out of ammo and was in the midst of switching hands when she cried out, ”Tera!!”

The leader must have decided to rush in at that exact moment as he saw that as a chance to attack one of us.

And since I was the one who managed to catch him, he seemed to have chosen to try and take me out first.

I felt the feeling of something rushing towards me from the side and inside my mind, I could see the picture of him leaping towards me with his combat knife held in front of his chest and prepared to strike.

My body moved before I even knew what was happening as I spun around while leaping back, my left hand reaching out as though to catch something.

I managed to grab onto something and for some reason, I knew that I had to hold on to that tightly or I would die.

Turns out, the thing I was grabbing on was the leader’s wrist, his combat knife just barely a few inches away from my chest.

He seemed just as surprised as I was that I managed to catch his wrist but then I realised that either by coincidence or design, my shotgun muzzle was pressed against the guy’s side.

There was no hesitation as I pulled the trigger and blasted his side open with the buckshot rounds.

At this distance, even his armour wasn’t able to completely negate the damage and the parts protecting his side got blown off, revealing his skin underneath.

Seems like the blast even took out a chunk of his clothes.

But with the armour damaged to this extent, it also meant that his cloaking function was no longer functional.

In fact, his speed seemed to also be tied to the armour because he was not able to jump as far away like how he did earlier and Amber immediately took advantage of that.

She reached out her hand and the guy was frozen in mid jump.

The shield guy saw the threat and rushed to his leader’s aid, the edge of the shield just inches away from him.

I realised that Amber probably wouldn’t have time to snap his neck before the shield enveloped the leader so I rushed forward as well.

As I had feared, the shield managed to cover the leader before Amber did her neck snap but I was already in front of him and thrusting my shotgun underneath his chin.

I thought I should say something here so I just went ahead to say, ”Get fucked.”

I pulled the trigger and the neck part of the armour was definitely lighter as my buckshots managed to pierce through it and blow his head out from below.

The other three armoured men froze when they saw their leader’s corpse wobble on unsteady feet before dropping onto the ground, dead.

Seeing that, I immediately rushed forward to reach the shield guy that had left the safety of his two comrades and jumped towards him.

He leaned back in surprise so I used his chest waist as a springboard to kick myself over his head as I took aim at the thing protruding out from his back, which just so happened to be his shield generator.

A quick shot from my gun and the thing got blasted off, the shield rippling for just a second before it completely disappeared.

They’re all yours, girls~
