Chapter 28 - Seven Burning Stars

[Ding! You have selected the Berserker Class!]

[Berserkers are warriors who laugh in the face of death—existences that never retreat, never kneel, and never break. They are forged in battle, tempered by blood, and driven by an unrelenting will to conquer.

The path of the Berserker is not one of defense or restraint, but of glorious carnage and absolute dominance.

This class is reserved for one who has stood tall against overwhelming odds, who has bled without faltering, and who has found joy in the slaughter.]

Gabriel felt a tremendous power tear through his veins. He staggered slightly but didnʼt collapse.

His back arched as strength surged through his limbs. His heartbeat thundered like war drums, veins bulging and pulsing across his body with molten fury.

While this occurred in the real world, something strange happened elsewhere.

The priest who had conducted the class awakening stumbled back, eyes wide with shock as he felt the intense glow of the awakening symbol.

”This... this phenomenon... itʼs definitely a unique class!” he exclaimed, certainty ringing in his voice.

Outside the city, life continued as usual. Merchants sold their wares, adventurers in armor marched around, and civilians bustled through the streets.

Suddenly, the clouds twisted unnaturally. A crimson sigil—unknown to human scholars—appeared in the heavens.

Seven burning stars blinked into existence in a formation never recorded in any historical text. They glowed blood-red, forming the shape of a horned figure wielding a massive greatsword.

A bespectacled scholar stopped mid-sentence, jaw slack. ”Is that... a constellation?” he muttered in disbelief.

A little girl tugged at her motherʼs dress. ”Mama... that star looks scary.”

”Those... those are no stars,” her mother stammered, horror gleaming in her eyes.

”Whatʼs that?”

”Is it the end of the world?”

Across the world, people looked up—for just a moment—and saw it.

Through the windows of the city library, two individuals stared at the sky in confusion. One was older, the other younger, likely an apprentice.

The old librarian mumbled with a pale face, ”That star pattern... itʼs not in any of our records. What could it be? Is this a bad omen?”

A drunken adventurer stumbled out of a hotel and looked up, blinking in awe. ”I gotta stop drinkinʼ...”

”No,” his friend whispered, ”youʼre not hallucinating. Everyone sees it.”

Elsewhere, at the top floor of the Adventurerʼs Guild, Scarlett Voss stood in silence.

The towering windows behind her provided a perfect view of the sky—

And the constellation.

If one looked into her eyes, they would have seen seven burning stars reflected within them.

The constellation lasted only a few seconds before fading like smoke curling from a dying flame.

At the same time, Gabriel stood alone in the chamber, the awakening circle dimming beneath his feet.

The priest stared at him as if observing a rare specimen.

He spoke a few words, but the priest was too stunned to reply.

In the end, Gabriel simply walked out of the church.

As he left, a gut feeling told him something significant had just occurred.

He didnʼt yet realize the scale of it.

Didnʼt realize that the entire world had seen it.

He stepped onto the street, only to find people chattering excitedly about a phenomenon in the sky.

”I saw it—it was seven burning stars!”

”Phew... I thought the gods wanted to punish us or something.”

”But what wouldʼve caused this?”

Gabriel frowned and approached a nearby pedestrian.

”Hey, if you donʼt mind me asking, what is everyone talking about?” he asked politely.

”Oi, you didnʼt see it?” the man—a burly fellow—turned, eyes wide with lingering shock. ”Seven stars! Right up in the sky! Red as blood and burninʼ like fire!”

He blinked. ”Seven... stars?”

”Yes! Ask anyone! Formed the shape of some horned monster with a blade bigger than a wagon! Only lasted a few seconds, but we all saw it!” The man shivered, rubbing his arms. ”Gave me chills just lookinʼ at it.”

Another passerby chimed in, ”They say itʼs an omen! A sign from the gods—or maybe a demonʼs return.”

After politely thanking them, Gabriel walked off, lost in thought.

ʼA horned figure with a greatsword... seven stars... could it have been triggered by my Awakening?ʼ

He didnʼt think much of it. Despite the sleek modern design, this world was still a fantasy world at its core. Strange phenomena like this were bound to happen from time to time.

As he moved through the street, he came to a sudden stop upon noticing a group of adventurers battling troll monsters in the distance.

It was a dungeon break—but a controlled one, thanks to the adventurers wielding weapons either dropped by monsters or crafted with monster cores.

Firearms and other conventional weapons only caused minimal damage.

Fortunately, the Mechanic Class compensated for this weakness by crafting high-distructive weapons powered by monster cores.

He recalled that in the later parts of the game—especially after the Convergence—mechanics became extremely valuable.

Those who awakened the Mechanic Class gained skills to create devastating fire artillery and terrifying nuclear weapons capable of obliterating life across millions of kilometers.

That... was enough to destroy an entire nation.

Recruiting Mechanics would be one of his top priorities.

Although rare, he had a way to locate them—thanks to knowledge from his past life.

All he needed to do was wait for the players to arrive, which was only a month away.

If he could secure one or two talented Mechanics, they could craft him his own nuclear weapons.

”Speaking of blacksmiths and mechanics...” he muttered.

He retrieved his Voidsting blade, now riddled with cracks.

[Durability: 10/100]

”I need another sword.”

Shortly after, he headed toward the workshop of the finest blacksmith in the Royal Capital.

Meanwhile, in the deepest basement of the church, the priest who had conducted the awakening knelt before a figure clad in luxurious white armor. A flowing cape bore a red cross, and a winged helmet shadowed the figureʼs face.

The aura he emitted was calm—but carried terrifying authority.

He was none other than High Cardinal Alfonso, a member of the Church Council and a direct servant of the Holy Pope.

”You said itʼs a unique class,” the cardinal said in a low voice. ”Explain.”

The priest gulped, barely able to withstand the crushing presence.

”Yes, Your Eminence,” he stuttered. ”I... I conducted the awakening ritual personally. The symbol—it was brighter than anything Iʼve seen. Just like when the King awakened his class. Iʼm also certain heʼs the one who caused the celestial disturbance.”

”If what youʼre saying is true, we have no time.” The High Cardinal rose from his seat. ”We must act before the Guilds or the Three Noble Families reach him,” he commanded.

His voice echoed with finality.

”Send a recruitment envoy immediately. Bring this boy into our ranks—no matter the cost.”

The priest bowed, voice filled with reverence. ”Yes, Your Eminence.”
