The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

The monk hesitated for a moment, but under Little Taotie’s expectant gaze, he still opened his palm.

Little Taotie eagerly placed his small fist in the monk’s palm, then opened his fist, letting an object fall into the monk’s palm.

Little Taotie withdrew his hand, and only then did the monk see the object clearly.

He was shocked that the object hadn’t passed through his body but remained in his palm, and when he saw the object clearly, he was a bit dumbfounded.

It was a Shariputra.

A seemingly unremarkable Shariputra, but it was intimately connected with him.

In his tenth life, he could have become a Buddha, but he gave it up due to obsession. However, on the night when his headless corpse was thrown together with his entire clan’s corpses into a mass burial mound, inexplicably, a fire broke out. The fire was intense, and after the blaze, this Shariputra appeared.

It’s hard to say which corpse transformed into this Shariputra, perhaps his headless corpse, or maybe it required the combined corpses of the entire clan to appear.

This Shariputra was privately kept by the official who supervised the execution.

Unexpectedly, after all the twists and turns, it ended up in his hands in this manner.

If he hadn’t given up the Official Seal filled with Merit and Faith Power as a gift to the little girl, would he have received such a return gift?

Indeed, everything in this world seems predestined by fate.

”Uncle Monk, doesn’t Merit matter to you anymore? Don’t monks all emphasize and care about Merit and karma?” Having stayed a while at Shaolin Temple, Little Taotie knew that monks value these things. Even visitors who come to the temple for incense burning care about Merit, often thinking about donating incense money and writing their names in the Merit book.

The monk smiled and shook his head: ”I don’t mind anymore.”

”Why?” Little Taotie’s pupils were filled with confusion and a thirst for knowledge.

The monk thought for a moment, then gently ruffled Little Taotie’s hair with kindness and love, saying: ”Let me tell you a story.”

Kids probably like listening to stories, right?

Explaining it this way should be easier.

Sure enough, he saw the little girl’s eyes sparkling, nodding repeatedly, her Little Dimple sinking in, tilting her head and looking at him expectantly.

The monk began speaking slowly and gently: ”Master Baizhang taught daily. An old man often came to hear and departed with the crowd. One day, however, he stood there and didn’t leave.

The master asked: [Who is standing there?]

The old man replied: [I lived on this mountain five hundred years ago. A student asked if great practitioners fall into karma. I said they don’t fall into karma, and as a result, I was reborn as a fox. Today, I ask the monk to give me another answer.]

The master said: [You may ask.]

The old man asked: [Do great practitioners fall into karma?]

The master answered: [They do not overlook karma.]

The old man awakened instantly. He bid farewell and said: [I am freed from my fox form and reside behind the mountain. I implore the master to perform the burial rites as for a deceased monk.]

The next day, Master Baizhang ordered the monks to look for the deceased monk at the mountain’s rear. The group was puzzled, but the master led them to a large rock on the mountain where they found a dead large black fox. After the morning meal, they performed the funeral rites for the deceased monk by fire.”

Little Taotie blinked, a trace of bewilderment flashing in her eyes.

A bit profound, somewhat comprehensible, and some parts still seem unclear.

She pouted in frustration, feeling that she hadn’t studied well, hence unable to understand.

Seeing this, the monk empathetically continued: ”During the Flourishing Tang Period, Zen Buddhism flourished. Master Baizhang held his sessions at Baizhang Mountain in Jiangxi, with a thousand students gathered to listen. Among the listeners was a white-haired old man, who came every day and was the last to leave. This continued for a long time, attracting Master Baizhang’s attention. One day, after his teaching, as everyone left, the old man remained behind.

Master Baizhang went over specially to ask him: [Why do you linger every time, is there a specific issue bothering you?]

Upon hearing this, the old man replied: [I have a major question, and I ask the master to enlighten me.]
