Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival

”Did I say you could scream? Scream again and I’ll pierce your throat!” Xie Ning slammed Xiao Huang Mao’s head onto the large, square table, the sharp metal spike extending from between her fingers aimed right at his throat.

”Holy crap.” The young man next to him hadn’t expected Xie Ning to attack so suddenly, pinning their leader, Xiao Huang Mao, in one move.

He stumbled back in fear, but another metal spike quickly pierced his calf, and he fell to the ground with a THUD.

The remaining three young men were all scared witless at the same time.

The one who had been circling the RV, drooling, was the first to react. He turned and bolted for the iron gate.

”Mon-monster, it’s a monster!”

”Uncle!”

At Xie Ning’s shout, Song Youzhi instantly understood. He rushed forward and grabbed the young man by the scruff of his neck.

He effortlessly lifted the hundred-plus-pound young man, as easily as if he were picking up a chick.

Song Kexin, watching from the side, was completely stunned.

”Uncle, tie them all up. We’ll sort this out after.”

By the time Song Youzhi processed what was happening, he had already tied the four young men together with hemp rope and gagged them.

He had moved so quickly and efficiently that even he was a little dazed.

After the incident where they were trapped in the building, he had subconsciously begun to obey his eldest niece’s commands without question.

Song Kexin rushed to help her grandparents up from their wicker chairs. ”Grandpa, Grandma, are you okay?”

”We’re fine, we’re fine.” Song Yaoguo breathed a small sigh of relief, but he couldn’t hide the worry in his eyes. ”Those men knocked on the door just now, saying they were staff from the village committee.”

”The moment the door was opened, they barged in, wanting to forcibly register some kind of supplies and population.”

”Your grandma saw how vicious they looked, so she shut the villa’s inner door.”

”Dad, how many times have I told you not to just open the door for strangers?” Song Youzhi grumbled under his breath.

”Oh, forget about that for now. Just tell me, what do we do now? Who are they? Why did they show up out of nowhere to register things? What did they mean when they said the world outside has changed?”

”Kexin, show the videos you recorded earlier to Grandpa and Grandma, and explain the situation to them,” Xie Ning said, giving her sister a meaningful look.

Song Kexin nodded and walked over to support the elderly couple. ”Grandpa, Grandma, let’s go inside and watch some short videos. I have to warn you, you need to be mentally prepared. The situation is pretty bad.”

”Oh.” The old woman looked at her granddaughter with concern, then turned to Xie Ning. ”Ningning, aren’t you coming in?”

”Grandma, I’ll be inside in a bit.” Xie Ning smiled at the old woman. ”It’s okay, don’t worry, Grandma.”

Song Kexin led the elderly couple into the villa’s living room and, at a signal from Xie Ning, closed the main door.

Only then did Xie Ning turn her head, her gaze dark and chilling as she looked at Xiao Huang Mao, who was still pinned to the large, square table.

Xiao Huang Mao was already scared out of his wits.

Although Xie Ning had retracted the metal spike, a cold blade was now resting against his neck.

The slender blade pressed against his skin, radiating a deathly chill.

Cold sweat beaded on Xiao Huang Mao’s forehead and dripped down.

Xie Ning looked down at Xiao Huang Mao, a humorless smile playing on her lips. ”You all look very unfamiliar. You’re not from Song Family Pavilion village, are you?”

Xiao Huang Mao stiffened his neck. ”Y-You’re going against our Rescuer’s Federation. I’m telling you, you’ll regret it.”

Xie Ning grabbed his throat with one hand. ”Is that so? How much will I regret it?”

Xiao Huang Mao’s eyes bulged, and for a moment, he couldn’t make a sound.

His throat felt like it was being crushed by a hand made of iron bands.

’Why? How can a young girl have so much strength?’
