Saintess Summons Skeletons

[Revised quest : The Orator’s approval - Defeat Scripture]

[Rewards : Last upgrade to [Blessing of the Deep]; special active skill [Eye of the Orator]; New:

-(Now)- Item upgrade thingy

-(Now)- Custom-made giftable class

-(On completion)- Signet rings of the ten lords complete set]

[Restrictions : No allies allowed (during quest-related key fights) aside from summoned Skeletons and Aliths; time limit is now five calendar years from accepting the revised quest]

[Penalty for failure : forget ‘Paradise Toybox’]

Five years?! But Alith can now help?

And the penalty is… Well I can accept losing the toybox in that case considering I wouldn’t have his essence to properly use it anyway.

Still, that’s a very narrow timeframe. It took me six years to get where I am, and that was me rushing the entire way through… Plus now I still have like almost eleven months of mana debt to pay before the next trial.

From what I gather, I might stand a chance at level 499.

Can I really go through three trials in four years after repaying the debt?

This might actually mess up my growth… If I rush too much and don’t perform well in the trials, that’s really not good/ [Forced Genius Body] does help considering I no longer need to level my skills. But still…

I had almost 94 years left, and we’re cutting that down to five.

That’s a harsh blow. Especially considering the later levels and trials are only going to get harder and harder to get through.

And the new rewards are… Questionable, at best. That being said, they’re probably worth the gamble, considering the quest-giver.

‘Item upgrade thingy’ certainly is a description. The custom class is a pretty obvious thing, though. I can’t really refuse it even if it’s not going to help me…

Meanwhile the signet rings… The ten lords should be the ten ‘human’ lords from the lost epoch. Since the four real Lords were in there, the rings can’t be shabby things. Even the sword Ormoncleth casually stabbed into a wall is an indestructible stick that grandma couldn’t even bend a little.

Quite the time limit. On the other hand, I already need to become stronger faster. Ideally strong enough to help against the phageid when they really attack. And the sooner scripture dies the better. That’ll be one fewer thing on my mind.

This quest… It’s not even about killing scripture anymore, it’s a gamble on my growth speed.

Well. If there is one thing I have a lot of confidence in…

[Revised Quest Accepted!]

[Time limit : 5 years]

[Advance rewards are being issued! Please extend your hands palm up.]

“Like this?” Sofia turned her palms toward the ceiling, and felt a light weight in her hands before she even finished saying two words.

In her left hand was a tiny glass flask containing a single drop of a shimmering liquid, and in her right hand, a small red crystal with two pointy ends. A system window with a description appeared above each hand soon after.

[Item upgrade thingy]:

Pour the entire drop on an item to make it better. Single use.

No, you cannot use it on your arm. No, not on your mana heart either. Nor on anything ‘living’ in general.

Anything else is fair game.

Sofia clicked her tongue reading the description. The fact that it called out her immediate thoughts was pissing her off a bit. But it was still a good item, probably. Remains to see what kind of upgrade we’re talking about.

And the other thing…

[Class crystal]:

Shatter to change your class to [Soulcake Patissier].

Restriction: Arch-Lich race.

Uh-uh. That’s about what I expected. Really…

Thank you…

Carefully grasping the tiny crystal, Sofia sent it into her eye, storing it safely next to the Leyline seed.

Sofia sat down on the floor, next to Engi who looked utterly confused, clearly having missed the interaction with Orator.

“Sorry, we’ll get back to work in a minute, let me deal with this first…”

Sofia watched the liquid drop of shimmering colors roll at the bottom of the flask.

‘Living’ in quotation marks is a pretty obvious indicator that using it on Bookie or Pareth isn’t going to work either… Anything else is fair game. So realistically my options…

“Either my helmet, my scepter, the Philosopher’s stone, or the third key. I really don’t see anything else… I guess Sorrow’s shroud, my asterite pin, and maybe one of the charms I might buy soon could be acceptable targets too. But… Hmm… I don’t think they’re the correct choice.”

“If I have to choose between losing my helmet and losing my scepter… I would rather lose the helmet. So if I have to upgrade one, the scepter is better. That being said, upgrading the dagger… It’s already stupidly sharp, if it were to become even sharper, where is this going? Would it start to cut through space itself? If upgrading the dagger were to upgrade the title and sub class systems then it would be a worthy investment, but technically the dagger only allows me to use those…”

“I think it’s between my scepter and the stone… Both are crazy as it is. The main argument for the scepter is that any upgrade would also likely be reflected by the catalyst. Whilst the main argument for the stone is… It’s already the stupidest item I own.

Sofia brought up the two items’ descriptions from her logs.

It’s still at +1 because I don’t dare use more chaos enhancement stones on it even if I have the money to get them. If the channeling time or mana cost reduction gets worse… I don’t even want to imagine it.

[The philosopher’s stone]: The brightest miracles and darkest tragedies all have one thing in common: humanity’s relentless drive to create change. Yet, one thing they wished was eternal.

Water purified by the philosopher’s stone may be used to cure all diseases and fully heal anyone under level 200. Can bring back the recently passed if conditions are right.

While wearing the philosopher’s stone, you are immune to all negative status.

Upon death, the philosopher’s stone shall grant you a powerful new life, once.

Can only be destroyed by its creator, or the final death of its wearer.

Restriction: Born human.

And this one… The negative status immunity still mostly worked even in the forbidden layer. And it’s just…

Alright. Whatever. Let’s upgrade the stone.

Since the stone was now embedded in Aphenoreth’s glove, they were technically ‘one’ item, so Sofia sneakily hoped that they would both be enhanced; she was going to let the drop touch both the stone and the lace glove and hope that her greed would have positive results.

I’m fine even if the glove gets upgraded instead of the stone, honestly, I’m just really not sure even this could possibly alter the glove.

Taking off her armguard, Sofia admired the black lace glove that was always on her hand like a second skin, and the red tear-shaped gem embedded on its back.

Sofia took a deep breath, and uncapped the tiny glass flask.

Here we go.

The shimmering liquid fell in slow motion, leaving the flask without a sound, and crashing into the philosopher’s stone through the lace of the glove, spreading on its surface before getting absorbed inside like water on dry sand.

Sofia held her breath, waiting for a reaction, a flash of light, something.

But there was nothing, the magic inside of the stone felt a bit turbulent for about a second then returned to normal, and that was that. It was also pretty clear that the glove was wholly unaffected.

Instead, it was her body that reacted. It felt like all of her muscles were squirming, her skin undulating, her bones creaking. The still open, old description of it from her system logs changed by itself.

[The philosopher’s stone - sanctified]: Is it the end or the starting point? Eternity.

Water purified by the philosopher’s stone may be used to cure all diseases and fully heal anyone under level 250. Can bring back the recently passed if conditions are right.

While wearing the philosopher’s stone, you are immune to all negative status and have a 1000% bonus to total Charisma.

Upon death, the philosopher’s stone shall grant you a glorious new life, once.

Unalterable. Eternal.

Restriction: Born human.

What the hell?!

“The secret to immortality really is charisma, I wasn’t crazy…”

No wonder my body is acting weird.

Sofia was silent for a moment, looking at the description with glazed eyes, waiting for her body to stop acting like she was high on unknown magical drugs.

“I mean… At this point…”

With a sigh, Sofia opened her titles menu.

[Title changed to ‘Idol’]

[Title change function is locked for the next 24 hours]

♢UNIQUE ♢ [Idol]: Everyone has their eyes on you.

Awarded for holding the all-time spectator record of the fourth trial. (Female version)

Effect: 500% bonus to total Charisma.

/Ephemeral/ : This title will be lost if someone breaks your record.

Again, her body started to spasm and squirm, even more violently.

Engi watched over her, shaking his skull like Pareth would.

It took several minutes for it to settle down.

“It’s just…”

Holding up her left hand, Sofia grabbed her dagger and with a clean strike, sliced her thumb off.

Charisma, among other things, improved health regeneration. She already regained 10% of her health per second with her aura if nothing suppressed it, so even without the extra charisma it was already at a point where a cut finger like this would regrow explosively in under a second.

But now?

The finger never even fell off, by the time the blade stopped the wound was just gone, the two halves of the finger seamlessly reconnected.

“I didn’t even feel it. Holy hell. I couldn’t even catch my health dropping. I might have to start using this title over Olympian…”
