A thrill surged from the speed of the charge.

It was as if his brain was tingling. For a moment, he forgot everything and was completely absorbed.

’This is fun.’

Weird Eyes, after cutting down the first one and passing by, effortlessly performed a maneuver that an ordinary horse wouldn’t even dare.

It met the wind with its left wing, then used that force to change the angle of its body and turn to the right.

At the same time, it kicked the ground with its left hind leg.

All of these movements were as skillful as Rem throwing an axe.

Enkrid changed his center of gravity to match Weird Eyes’s movements.

Their coordination was perfect.

Isn’t a horse’s completion dependent on the rider’s assistance? And so, the two became one and changed direction.

If the first blow was a blade that had cut and passed by, this time it was a spearhead that split the center of the enemy.

Dawnforged in his right hand, Penna in his left.

He held dual swords in his hands for the first time in a long time.

The monster pack opened their maws.

Were they shouting something?

He couldn’t hear it.

Enkrid charged.

The muscles in both his forearms writhed and expanded.

The speed at which Weird Eyes ran was fast even for a knight.

If he relaxed his strength even a little, both his arms would break like rotten branches.

’There’s a joy in that too.’

He gathers information from his surroundings with his stretched thoughts.

He plunged into the midst of the monsters.

The swords in both his hands cut, slashed, tore, and burst everything they touched.

***

Whew.

Rem whistled.

It was a fight that was hard to see anywhere.

”It grew wings?”

Ropord said in surprise, looking at Weird Eyes.

The others were similarly surprised, but that surprise was short-lived, as the scene of Enkrid fighting as one with the horse followed.

Ragna opened his sleepy eyes.

Audin, with a faint smile on his face as always, called upon the Lord.

”Bless and bless again,” Theresa murmured with a rhythm.

She was reminded of a knight of God mentioned in a holy text.

When the army of demons blocked the path, there was a knight who charged forth on a horse given by God.

BOOM! BANG!

Every time a sound burst, black blood and ’centaur pieces’ flew into the sky.

Every time Enkrid ran—no, wherever Weird Eyes charged—the air tore and a circular shockwave exploded.

Even though they were quite far away, the sound of the air tearing, bang, bang, continuously reached their ears.

”He’s having fun,” Themares said.

He couldn’t read his mind because of the distance, but he could tell this much just by looking.

”That looks dizzying,” Fel muttered.

He put himself in Enkrid’s place.

Can I move properly if I run like that?

What do I need to swing, stab, and break through with a sword like that?

’Instantaneous judgment is needed.’

And his body would have to be strong.

On top of that, he would have to mobilize all his five senses to receive and perceive the surrounding information in real time.

’High-speed thought.’

Fel also possessed it.

He too was a knight.

However, if he were told to do as Enkrid did?

”...Effort is the only answer,” Fel muttered.

His honest inner thoughts had come out without him realizing it.

Ropord also watched the same scene with a deep impression.

His perspective was different from Fel’s.

He did not put himself in Enkrid’s place.

Instead, he painted the situation as if looking down from above.

’If there is no need to strike a vulnerable spot, it is enough to split the center.’

If one has enough strength, that is fine.

From a strategic point of view, that is.

’No, even without being that aggressive, it’s enough to just break through at the right point.’

Enkrid had broken through the middle of the centaur pack and had struck the head of the large centaur that was at the very front.

The creature had also resisted, pulling out something long and swinging it.

He couldn’t see it in detail because it was too far away, but the result was visible.

Enkrid had passed by as if grazing it, and another monster had exploded.

’If it hadn’t been an inscribed weapon, the sword would not have endured.’

That’s how Ropord saw it.

He would feel that much of a counterforce when swinging the sword.

It was natural if he swung a sword while charging like that.

Even with a lance charge, if the point of impact is off, it is common for the attacker’s arm or ribs to break.

Of course, the situation is different for a knight, who possesses strength beyond that of a human.

”As expected, training your body regularly pays off,” Audin muttered.

How could Audin not have seen what Ropord had?

He felt a sense of pride in having passed on what he possessed to Enkrid.

”It’s been a long road, from the Heart of the Beast until now,” Rem added, crossing his arms.

He, too, felt a similar pride as the bear-beastkin and saw himself as the one who had contributed the most to the commander’s skill.

”He would have fallen off if he hadn’t maintained his concentration,” Ragna also said a word.

He said it, fiddling with the grip of his sword.

Their eyes did not meet, but the three’s momentum had changed.

Their fighting spirits clashed.

”All three think that they are right. They intend to start a fight if any of the other two act up. The three’s minds are in agreement,” the Dragonkin added a commentary.

His words made the three’s momentum even fiercer.

”What’s in agreement? Huh?”

”Comparing me to those two is disrespectful. Learn some manners, Dragonkin.”

”Brother Lizard, the Lord wishes to have a chat with you.”

The Dragonkin nodded his head.

He just said, ’I see.’

He had no fighting spirit.

No jealousy either.

He was of a race that rarely showed emotion.

That is why he just impassively accepted the killing intent sent by the three.

Luagarne was silent.

She just rolled her eyes continuously.

Whether they fought or not, now was the time to capture Enkrid’s performance in her eyes.

Nothing else was important to her right now.

”Indeed,” Shinar just added a small admiration.

She rarely threw a joke without Enkrid.

Naturally, she had no interest in whether the three fought or not.

The same went for what the Dragonkin was saying.

Isn’t now the time to appreciate?

And so, one Frog and one elf became spectators.

Dunbakel was one of the most surprised to see the wings.

She had been kicked out of her village, but she had spent her childhood in the world of beastkin.

’If a monster’s blood is mixed, it becomes a beast.’

And if it is touched by the hand of a god, it becomes a divine beast.

”A child of Krimhalt.”

Krimhalt is the god of the beastkin.

He symbolizes struggle and reproduction and helps all things to be revived.

That is why some scholars of humans or other races call Krimhalt the god of spring, but to the beastkin, he is the one and only god, so such words have no meaning.

He looks after the four seasons, and the sky and the earth, the rising sun and the moon that lights up the night are all different forms of Krimhalt.

A divine beast refers to a child who has inherited the divinity sown by Krimhalt.

That was the common sense of the beastkin she knew.

Also, a divine beast was a legend.

So it was the first time she had seen one in person.

”It has inherited the blood of a Pegasus, a flying horse,” the Dragonkin said, leaving the three who had not drawn their weapons.

He had lived disconnected from the present, so it was as if he had leaped over from the past.

A being that appeared only in legends on the continent was not that unfamiliar to a Dragonkin.

Since he had once associated with them.

Of course, it was the first time he had seen wings suddenly sprout.

A normal Pegasus would have been born with wings.

With a series of bang, bang sounds, the centaur pack was all torn apart and exploded, and it did not take long for the fight to end.

In the middle, one of them had broken away from the pack and had tried to flee, but Weird Eyes had jumped while running and had half-flown through the air.

It had caught the wind with its wings in the air and had shown something similar to a glide.

It had jumped up and then swooped down from above.

Enkrid had cut the head of the last remaining centaur with a diagonal slash from the air.

If they had been left alone, they would have run rampant in this area like a festering wound.

In a way, they were a tricky opponent for the current party to catch, even if not a natural enemy, but one horse and one knight had cleaned them up.

Weird Eyes folded its wings, and Enkrid returned, riding on it.

Pink steam rose from the back of the returned Weird Eyes.

The heat from its body made its sweat and blood evaporate.

Enkrid was similar.

He also had steam rising from his body as he said, ”Too fast.”

And then he added, ”And just as much fun.”

It was a sense of speed that was difficult to experience with a human body.

To be honest, it would be overwhelming even for the body of an ordinary knight.

He had managed to swing his sword.

Enkrid thought to himself.

’How did I do it?’

He had done it ’just because,’ half-intoxicated.

Naturally, the experience and training time he had accumulated in the past had made it possible.

He was not unaware of that.

Heeigh.

Weird Eyes shook its body from side to side.

It sounded like a request to get off.

Enkrid tapped Weird Eyes’s head with his left hand, then placed his hand on its back and came down, rolling his body to the side.

His thighs trembled.

He had put too much force into not falling off.

He had endured because he had been training his body.

’Otherwise, I would have been thrown off long ago.’

Pfrrrk.

Weird Eyes’s excitement had not subsided.

He had been enduring the pain from the lump on his back.

The wild horse that had overcome the blood of a monster felt a sense of liberation.

The whole world seemed to be his, and he was overflowing with strength to the point where he could do anything.

A clogged waterway had been cleared, and a complexly tangled knot had been untied.

”Want to run more?”

Enkrid read his mind even before the Dragonkin spoke.

Their communion had been deep before, but now it felt as if their minds were connected.

Weird Eyes looked at Enkrid.

Their two eyes met.

Eyes of different colors, red and blue.

”Do as you please. I won’t stop you.”

Enkrid did not treat Weird Eyes as a beast.

This horse was a friend and a member of the knight order.

Weird Eyes kicked off the ground as if it were excited.

With a bang, bang sound, it ran off to one side.

As it ran, it picked up speed and then became a single line, crossing the horizon.

The winged horse flew up, aided by the speed at which it ran across the sky where the sunlight was setting.

Flap.

It seemed as if such a sound was heard.

Though in reality, they were already too far apart to hear.

Weird Eyes flew up into the sky.

Enkrid had also experienced flying for a moment while on its back, but it was a strange sight.

Weird Eyes had already become a dot and had disappeared from view.

”That’s fun,” Rem concluded the situation with a single word.

Themares and Dunbakel chattered to Enkrid about it being a child of Krimhalt, being blessed, being a Pegasus.

Enkrid replied dryly,

”Weird Eyes is just Weird Eyes.”

The Dragonkin became more interested in this man.

”Is it alright if it disappears just like that?”

”It seems like it will come back, but if that’s what Weird Eyes wants then so be it.”

He won’t stop him.

This was something that applied to everyone.

As expected, an impressive answer.

An ordinary human would not act like that with sincerity.

A fact that even the Dragonkin knew.

”It sounds like you wouldn’t look for some bastard again if he went back to the west,” Ragna said.

”It means you can go back to the Yohan family and cry in your mother’s arms,” of course, Rem didn’t lose and retorted.

”Why don’t you go back to the Crimson Cloak Knight Order? Since we’re heading to the south anyway.”

He must have learned from those two.

Fel picked a fight with Ropord.

Ropord replied, stroking his horse’s mane, ”I can’t hear you well because you’re a country bumpkin who herds sheep in the wilderness.”

”...Country bumpkin? Who?”

Once upon a time, Fel used to win against Ropord with words.

Now, Ropord had the upper hand.

The situation always changes.

The atmosphere of these people was subtly heating up.

If you were to find a reason…

”You’ve shown us something fun, Enki,” Luagarne’s murmur was the answer.

The fight Enkrid had shown had heated their blood.

The only calm ones were the Dragonkin, the elf, and the Frog.

The party moved forward.

They exchanged menacing words, but they did not come to blows.

”Let’s go.”

The short occurrence was over.

It was natural for travelers in this land to easily encounter monsters.

It was only because of the Border Guard’s safe passage that such incidents felt rare in this area.

A day passed, and dark clouds began to gather overhead.

Weird Eyes did not return, and whether it was because of what Enkrid had shown or because it was their nature, everyone’s blood had not yet cooled.

As if to represent that uncooled blood, Dunbakel said, ”It would be nice if a bunch of monsters came pouring out from somewhere.”

Compared to the east, the continent is peaceful.

Moreover, with the influence of the Border Guard, even monsters and bandits had decreased.

As if a god had granted her wish…

”In the west, we say that words become seeds,” Rem, who had just lost steam after arguing with Ragna since the morning, received her words.

He too was bored.

”Why do words become seeds?” Dunbakel asked back.

”It’s an expression, you stupid beastkin,” Rem took out his axe.

He could see a pack of monsters charging from the front.

What was the main force?

Man-faced dogs.

Among them, a pack of wolf beasts could be seen, but they were not ordinary beasts.

”They’re big,” Ragna said, getting off his horse.

He briefly thought about charging with his horse like Weird Eyes, but that would be a death sentence for the horse.

So he shouldn’t.

”They’re not beasts, they’re monsters. Dire wolves,” Luagarne said.

She had a lot of experience fighting monsters and beasts.

The Dragonkin did not join the fight and stopped, becoming a spectator.

Enkrid, for some reason, also stopped next to him.

”Fiancé. You seem to have a lot on your mind.”

Thanks to Weird Eyes flying away, the two of them were riding on one horse with Shinar in front.

Shinar, sitting in front, felt Enkrid’s contemplation.

She was an elf, the most sensitive of the races.

”That sword.”

The approaching monsters were nothing but a background, so he paid them no mind.

The ones with heated blood just charged out to meet them on their own.

Enkrid said, looking at Shinar’s right hip.

”How long have you used it?”

Shinar stroked the scabbard of her Naidyr.

To her, the sword was a close friend.

It had never betrayed her, and it never would.

”Over four hundred years,” Shinar said, recalling the day she had first received the sword, then realized her slip of the tongue.

”Not four hundred, but forty years.”

Even if she said over forty years, it was not a lie.

Because she had said ’over’ forty years.

Whether it was four hundred and forty or fifty years, there was no lie in saying it was over forty years.

Enkrid heard Shinar’s slip of the tongue with one ear and let it pass through the other.

’Communion.’

He was lost in a single thought.

The communion with Weird Eyes had given him something to think about.

Enkrid placed his hand on the grip of Dawnforged.

An inscribed weapon is a part of a knight.

Therefore, though it is a lifeless lump of iron, they commune with each other.

”It has been over forty years, fiancé. I correct my statement. Forget what I said before,” Shinar asserted her claim again from the side.
