Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough

Listening to the rumbling sound that only grew louder with each passing second as he moved through the spatial channel, he soon enough saw the origin of the loud rumbling sound emerging in the distance.

Light from outside spilled in through the opening in the spatial channel, as a large spatial rift was expanding as it continued to slowly widen the gap in the spatial channel. Allowing more chaotic spatial currents into the spatial channel. Speeding up the collapse of the rest of the spatial channel.

Maybe because of the damage done by the chaotic spatial currents, his speed slowed down significantly once the damaged section of the spatial channel came into view. Giving him a few seconds to prepare himself for having to face the deadly spatial currents before him head on instead of just getting thrown into the thick of it with little chance to prepare himself.

At the same time, it also gave him the opportunity to try and glimpse the outside situation.

But... Maybe not that surprisingly, all he saw was an endless sea of chaotic spatial currents with no sign of Desolate River City nor the shore of the vast river.

Ruuumble~

And as he barely managed to take in the seemingly endless spatial currents waiting for him outside the spatial channel, he found himself being pulled out of the broken spatial channel by the chaotic spatial currents with no way to resist. Only regaining his movement after the forces pulling him out lessened enough for him to readjust the spatial currents so he could move through them.

Of course, this kind of readjustment was anything but easy, as the short period between him barely managing to regain his movement and putting up a defense against the chaotic spatial currents, his body had already suffered from direct contact with the spatial current with one of his arms being directly torn off by them.

Painful as it was to have lost an arm, he couldn’t recover it in his current state. Instead, all he could do was utilize the Illusory Light Steps to the best of his abilities and charge in the direction that the spatial channel had been going with all the strength he could muster even as the spatial currents all around him rapidly wore down his physical body. Draining the spiritual qi within his dantian at a terrifying rate that exceeded his initial prediction. Forcing him to lower the time he could remain alive within the chaotic spatial currents from the initial guess of five minutes to less than two minutes.

Drastic as this change seemed, it wasn’t entirely his own miscalculation, as part of it was simply him being unlucky, as when his arm was torn off, the spatial currents also managed to force their way inside his body and caused far more damage than they would have if he hadn’t ended up losing one of his arms the second he was forced out of the crumbling spatial channel.

Not that any of this helped encourage him when it came to his chances of getting out of the river alive, as all he could do was hope the shore of the river would emerge in the distance before his dantian dried up from the terrifying expenditure needed to resist the chaotic spatial currents and he was torn apart and reduced to nothing amidst the deadly currents.

...

Around the same time Xuan Hao was ejected into the chaotic spatial currents fighting for his life trying reach the shore of the river before the chaotic spatial currents tore him apart, a large group of people emerged before the entrance to Desolate River City.

But different from the people waiting in line to enter Desolate River City, this group seemingly ignored the normal procedures and flew inside without even giving the guards at the gate a single glance.

Surprisingly enough, the guards stationed at the gate, who were about to rush up to stop them, froze on the spot upon noticing the symbol on the flying vessels belonging to this group before lowering their head with a clear look of fear in their eyes.

Not that the people flying above them cared about the guards below, as they treated them like air while flying forward before coming to a stop before the ancient city center that had emerged at the very heart of Desolate River City. Ignoring the flight restrictions that were implemented throughout the city.

”Looks like something from the old world did indeed end up surfacing in Desolate River City... To think the place that had already been turned upside down by dozens of different Void God Realm cultivators in the past would still be hiding something like this...” Slowly emerging from one of the flying vessels now hovering near the edge of the ancient city ruins, an old man wearing a far more ordinary robe compared to the rest of the people in the air quietly muttered to himself with a clear look of surprise on his face.

Yet, because of how he had shown up with a large entourage in tow, the normally bustling streets of Desolate River City that had only grown livelier with the emergence of the ancient city center, had quieted down to the point where even this quiet whisper could be heard by those below.

At the same time, those still in the unknown quickly realized that the old man floating above the city examining the chaotic spatial wall that had formed around the ancient city center was not just another powerful figure at the Void Integration Realm, but instead a true powerhouse standing at the pinnacle of the fragmented continent, a being at the Void God Realm.

Although everyone below understood it was only a matter of time before the ancient city center attracted those senior figures at the Void God Realm to come and explore, it was still surprising when someone like that did show up.

However, what the emergence of this Void God Realm cultivator symbolized wasn’t just that the things within the ancient city center were indeed as valuable as others had claimed, but also the fact that they wouldn’t have much of a chance left to fight for these opportunities. After all, with someone at the Void God Realm showing up, they would undoubtedly try and claim the ancient city center for themselves and wouldn’t give others a chance to claim the precious treasures hidden away inside the ancient city center for themselves.

”Seal up the known entrances to the ancient city center and start learning whatever possible about this place, we need to get as much information as possible before the others begin to show up. If possible, we should strive to obtain the treasures here before others show up.” And like the cultivators below had expected, after the quiet mumbling filled with a hint of awe at the concealment abilities of the ancient city center, the old man suspected to be a senior at the Void God Realm issued an order to seal off the ancient city center.

Reluctant as the cultivators below were to hear something like this, they understood they stood no chance resisting this kind of power backed by a Void God Realm cultivator. Especially so because more than ten Void Integration Realm cultivators suddenly revealed themselves after hearing this command and surged down towards the city below to carry out the order.

All the while, the old man continued observing the spatial wall surrounding the ancient city center.

Knowing he had arrived far faster than anyone else, he wasn’t in a hurry and planned to first get as much information as possible about the ancient city center before entering it himself. Understanding from having explored such ancient locations in the past that they often contained traps deadly even to someone at the Void God Realm.

Not to mention, the ancient city center was even more special than ordinary ancient ruins unveiled over the years, as it was widely known to have been part of an ancient hegemon of the old world. Meaning the traps waiting within the depths of the recently emerged ancient city center was bound to be far deadlier than anything encountered so far.

RUUUUMBLE-!

But just as the old man had settled in to feel the chaotic spatial fluctuations around the ancient city center to try and grasp the internal situation through them, a loud rumbling sound from the direction of the river of chaotic spatial currents next to Desolate River City suddenly disrupted his focus and forced him to look away.

”That... Someone traversing the desolate river...?” And the second he looked over towards the disturbance, he couldn’t help swallowing inwardly as he saw someone emerge from the chaotic spatial currents followed by a divine sense far surpassing his own swept over him and seemingly looked straight through him before it moved onwards like he wasn’t deemed important enough for a second glance by the other party.

In the short interaction, he didn’t even get a chance to see the true appearance of the other party as he had been completely engulfed by the chaotic spatial currents that seemed to do little to him, as he strode forward using some unknown movement technique that didn’t rely on the Dao of Space to traverse the short distance between himself and the shore of the river. After which he turned into a line of flowing light that quickly vanished beyond the horizon before he had the chance to even call out to the other party.

This kind of complete disregard was a first for him. After all, he was someone at the Void God Realm.

But...

The terror he felt from that divine sense along with the other party’s ability to seemingly effortlessly traverse the deadly desolate river that even people like him didn’t dare casually enter, made it clear this was a being far stronger than himself. To the point that the other party didn’t even seem to care about him, nor the ancient city center that had just emerged within the boundaries of Desolate River City. Making his scheming to be the first to show up to claim whatever treasures were hidden within the ancient city center seem laughable...
