Chapter 163: Chapter 163: The Chaos Bonanza

Ethan was lying down, the pain from his wounds dulled by the analgesic, but still present. The silence in the room was broken only by the two officers watching him with bored disdain.

[Champion, I have good news for you,] the System said with a humorous tone. [Look at this, and you’ll forget what just happened. Hehe.]

Ethan focused, and the rewards panel floated into his mind.

[Rewards Received.]

[12 (Humans) Eliminated - 1,200 Lux]

”Not bad. But not enough for the jump.”

[But wait, the best part comes from the unexpected. I told you you were being creative,] the System said.

[Receive fellatio during a shootout in which you are fighting.]

[Option A: 100,000,000 Dollars]

[Option B: 2,500 Lux points]

[Have sex during a shootout in which you are fighting.]

[Option A: 500,000,000 Dollars]

[Option B: 5,000 Lux points]

These were the first rewards of this kind, and they were truly substantial. The sum of money was astronomical and would immediately solve his financing problems in the war against Vance. However, Ethan was convinced that Lux points were the true currency. The decision was tough, but after much deliberation, he accepted the Lux points.

[8,700 Lux points have been received]

A maniacal, unrestrained laugh burst from Ethan’s throat. It was a laugh of relief, victory, and sheer madness due to the pain. The guards stared at him as if he were completely insane, thinking he had broken inside.

[You enraged your enemies in a shootout by having sex, while your partner screams and moans as they are killed - 3,000 Lux points]

Ethan’s laughter grew even louder. He remembered Cassandra, with that beautiful blooming ass on all fours in front of him, moaning like crazy while he was shooting and killing the enemies. That had been the most exciting and epic thing he had ever done.

Ethan thought: Thank you, Cassandra. If she hadn’t started it, he wouldn’t have dared to ask. She was hurt, injured, kidnapped—her mind was chaos. He hadn’t expected her to be so horny, but this had brought him unimaginable rewards.

Seeing his new 11,700 points added to the scarce points he had before, Ethan felt a rush of power.

[System, show me the skills that cost 1k. It’s time to buy! No, wait, I have an idea: show me the 10k versions. I feel like a millionaire!]

[Hahaha... You think you’re a millionaire, and you’re just a pauper,] the System mocked. [I know you think it’s a lot, but don’t be mistaken; the numbers will only grow exponentially. Maximum Silver level skills are 1k points. However, Maximum Gold skills are 100k points. I’ll show you the Minimum Gold level skills—those are worth 10k points, Rookie.]

Ethan blushed at the System’s words, feeling embarrassed even when he was alone. ”Fine, alright. Just show me the Silver level skills. I’ll save up; I don’t want to buy a basic Gold and then have to spend again.”

The System obeyed, displaying the list he had seen, but much more expanded.

[Erovision - 1,000 Lux points] [Erotouch - 1,000 Lux points]

[Celestial Qi Resonance Scan - 1,000 Lux points]

[Basic Qi Breathing - 1,000 Lux points]

[Basic Elemental Control (Lightning) - 1,000 Lux points]

[Basic Elemental Control (Fire) - 1,000 Lux points]

[Basic Elemental Control (Earth) - 1,000 Lux points]

[Basic Elemental Control (Air) - 1,000 Lux points]

[Basic Elemental Control (Water) - 1,000 Lux points]

[Dao Martial Technique of the Fist - 1,000 Lux points]

[Dao Martial Technique of the Spear - 1,000 Lux points]

[Dao Martial Technique of the Sword - 1,000 Lux points]

[Dao Martial Technique of the Bow - 1,000 Lux points]

[...]

Ethan began reading the list, which was huge, each skill looking more fantastic than the last: swords, spears, bows, maces, hammers. He couldn’t help but imagine a novel he had read about a celestial warrior who used spears with the power of lightning, being an unstoppable beast.

[Hey, that level isn’t enough for what you’re imagining,] the System laughed. [But maybe it will be possible later on.]

Ethan sighed. ”I understand. Everything sounds great, and I can buy 10 of them, which is awesome. So give me Fire, Lightning, Earth...”

[Wait, cowboy, wait!] the System stopped him with a tone of fake alarm. [Things are not as easy as they seem. You cannot choose more than one elemental style, or you will explode! The elements repel each other at this tier.]

”Oh, come on! They’re there, and you offered them! Now you’re taking away my dream!”

[If you could combine them, they wouldn’t be so cheap,] the System said. [The one you’re looking for is this one.]

[Body of the 5 Elements - 100,000 Lux points]

[That is the one you need, and it can be said that it is the most powerful Gold level elemental ability of all; it includes Lightning. Although there is also this one, it is a little cheaper.]

[Body of the 4 Elements - 65,000 Lux points]

[Although there are many more—]

”Alright, alright, don’t show me anymore!” Ethan stopped it, his eyes closed. ”It’s like showing a barbecue to a starving man who can’t eat.”

[Your loss,] the System laughed. [So, what do you say, my dear fellow? Which bargains do you want to take advantage of?]

Ethan reviewed the list again, weighing the 1,000 Lux options in his mind.

”System,” Ethan asked, ”can I combine, for example, if I buy these?”

Ethan mentally pointed to the list of abilities.

[Celestial Qi Resonance Scan - 1,000 Lux points] [Basic Qi Breathing - 1,000 Lux points] [Dao Martial Technique of the Fist - 1,000 Lux points] [Dao Martial Technique of the Spear - 1,000 Lux points]

”How about those four together?” Ethan asked. ”Would that work?”

[Of course, I don’t see why not,] the System said. [Those abilities are complementary. Breathing gives you the fuel (Qi), Scanning gives you the awareness, and the Fist/Spear gives you the application. But... what would you do with a spear? Do you plan to carry one on the streets? The guards here already think you’re crazy.]

Ethan paused, considering the list. ”Well, you have a point,” Ethan said. ”Let me keep looking. There must be better things out there than a six-foot weapon.”

[You call the shots, Champion. You have all day during your rest to check the menu,] the System said.
