Mom's Back. The Villain Triplets Are in Trouble.

Chapter 136: Chapter 135: A Slight Punishment

Coincidentally, when Gu Qingyin arrived at the hospital with Gugu, Old Madam Huo had just woken up and was telling Huo Yunzheng about her dream of Huo Yunjing.

Huo Yunzheng, of course, didn’t believe her. ”Mom, are you losing your mind? He’s been dead for so many years. Even if he really did become a ghost, shouldn’t he have come back long ago? You’re just overthinking things.”

Old Madam Huo wanted nothing more than to slap him. ”Then you tell me what this writing on my face is all about!”

”Maybe someone just snuck in and wrote it,” Huo Yunzheng said. ”The security at the villa needs an upgrade.”

Old Madam Huo hesitated. ’Could it really be just a coincidence? Someone sneaks into the villa and writes on my face, and by chance, I happen to dream about Huo Yunjing? What are the odds of a coincidence like that?’

’Besides, I only ever mentioned the Netherworld Marriage to Huo Xingye!’

’No, Huo Xingye might have told Gu Qingyin after she went back. And Gu Qingyin had told me to mind my own business before.’

At this thought, Old Madam Huo’s expression changed. Just as she was about to voice her suspicion, there was a knock on the hospital room door.

The butler entered and said softly, ”Old Madam, Gu Qingyin has brought Gugu to visit you.”

Old Madam Huo instantly regained her composure. ”Please, let them in.”

The butler opened the door, and Gu Qingyin walked in, holding Gugu’s hand.

As soon as she entered, the little princess rushed anxiously to the bedside and grabbed her great-grandmother’s hand.

Old Madam Huo gave her a loving smile. ”Great-Grandma is fine, don’t you worry. The doctor said Great-Grandma will be home soon.”

Gugu let out an exaggerated sigh of relief and patted her chest, showing she was relieved.

Old Madam Huo couldn’t help but laugh, her eyes filled with affection.

Gu Qingyin watched this, a little surprised.

’Old Madam Huo must genuinely care for Gugu to some extent; after all, the girl is so well-behaved and adorable. But that little bit of affection is nothing compared to her own self-interest.’

”Why the sudden hospitalization, Old Madam Huo?” Gu Qingyin asked, standing by the bed and feigning concern. ”You seemed perfectly healthy at the banquet yesterday. Was it a flare-up of an old illness?”

Old Madam Huo carefully observed her expression. ”When you get old, you get timid. I had a nightmare last night and it gave me a scare.” She chuckled. ”It’s nothing serious.”

Gu Qingyin decided to touch a sore spot. ”I also heard someone wrote on your face, Old Madam Huo. I thought you were in some danger. It’s good to know you’re all right.”

Old Madam Huo’s expression froze. ”How did you know?”

Gu Qingyin looked surprised. ”Everyone knows. I just heard it from someone else.”

Old Madam Huo’s gaze sharpened as she turned to the butler. ”What is the meaning of this?”

The butler lowered his eyes apologetically. ”For some reason, the writing wouldn’t wipe off. It only suddenly vanished after a long time...”

Old Madam Huo’s vision went black. It wasn’t just because she had been so utterly humiliated that she’d lost face all the way to the Pacific Ocean, but because this phenomenon was indirect proof that Huo Yunjing’s appearance last night was not just a dream!

”Old Madam!” the butler said nervously, stepping forward to press the call button.

Old Madam Huo opened her eyes just in time. ”No need,” she said weakly.

Gugu was also scared, her little face pale and tears welling up in her eyes.

Gu Qingyin clicked her tongue, not bothering to hide the schadenfreude in her voice. ”TSK TSK. It seems you’re quite ill indeed, Old Madam Huo. You should probably get a full-body checkup. The sooner you find something, the sooner you can treat it.”

Old Madam Huo took a deep breath. ”I’m not feeling well. I’d like to rest.”

Gu Qingyin shrugged and turned to leave.

Huo Yunzheng, who had been silent all this time, suddenly stood up with a smile. ”I’ll see you out.”

Gu Qingyin glanced at him, then said one last thing to Old Madam Huo, ”Do you know why Little Ming’s grandpa lived to be ninety-nine?”

Without waiting for Old Madam Huo’s reaction, she turned and left with Gugu.

Gugu gave her great-grandmother a worried look and a reluctant wave goodbye.

Huo Yunzheng paid his mother no mind and followed Gu Qingyin out of the room.

Seeing this, Old Madam Huo’s chest ached with anger.

She had always known her son was a lecher, but she’d always thought it was normal for men and not a big deal. But seeing Huo Yunzheng’s eyes practically glued to Gu Qingyin, she suddenly found it unacceptable.

’Doesn’t Huo Yunzheng know who Gu Qingyin is? Is she someone he should be fantasizing about? That imbecile!’

Old Madam Huo guessed correctly. That good-for-nothing Huo Yunzheng really didn’t know Gu Qingyin’s identity. He only thought the name sounded familiar and guessed she was probably the wife of one of the younger generation in the Huo Family.

’But that doesn’t matter. Married women are more exciting, plus there’s the thrill of transgression... Heh heh, just thinking about it gets me worked up!’

Once out of the hospital room, Huo Yunzheng kept trying to ask about Gu Qingyin’s identity, but she ignored him completely, acting cold and aloof.

This stoked Huo Yunzheng’s desire for conquest. He asked, very bluntly, ”Are you married? If not, how about you consider me?”

Gu Qingyin had noticed Huo Yunzheng’s intentions back in the room. She hadn’t paid him any mind then, and Huo Yunjing couldn’t be bothered with him either. But she hadn’t expected Huo Yunzheng to be shameless enough to follow her out.

Huo Yunjing had been about to emerge and teach Huo Yunzheng a lesson, but Gu Qingyin held him back.

’This is a hospital, full of patients. Scaring Huo Yunzheng to death is one thing, but if we accidentally scare a patient to death, that would be a terrible sin.’

Gu Qingyin had to calm the about-to-rampage Huo Yunjing while simultaneously listening to Huo Yunzheng’s peacock-like posturing and enduring his harassing gaze. She was getting incredibly annoyed.

Sensing Gu Qingyin’s anger, Huo Yunjing went quiet in an instant.

Gu Qingyin stopped in front of the elevator and turned to look at Huo Yunzheng, her gaze as cold as if she were looking at an inanimate object. ”Get lost.”

Gu Qingyin was finally acknowledging him. Before Huo Yunzheng could even feel happy about it, he felt a BUZZ in his head. His vision blurred, then went completely black.

Huo Yunzheng let out a panicked ”Ah!” He felt himself make the sound, but his ears heard nothing. He frantically reached up to touch his ears.

Gu Qingyin stepped into the elevator, her gaze indifferent as she stared straight ahead. She didn’t spare Huo Yunzheng a single glance, as if she weren’t the one who had just stripped him of his senses.

’What happened to Second Great-Uncle? Did he suddenly get sick? Grandma doesn’t seem happy either.’

Gu Qingyin looked down at Gugu and thought, ’Just what kind of environment did this child grow up in? It’s truly amazing she can remain so innocent.’

She lovingly patted Gugu’s head. With her other hand, she tapped the pendant around her neck and whispered, ”Find where the household god is being enshrined.”

Black mist billowed out and nuzzled against Gu Qingyin’s face. Then, when the elevator doors opened, it shot out like a gust of wind.

Gugu shivered. ’Ah, it’s so cold in this elevator.’

Back at the old mansion, Gu Qingyin, worried Gugu might be bored, had Mao Mao appear to play with her and act as a bodyguard.

Now that Old Madam Huo was sick again, there was no guarantee that deranged group of people wouldn’t try to use Gugu as a sacrifice again.

With Mao Mao around, even if they had struck some deal with the household god, it wouldn’t be able to take her so easily.

At first, Gu Qingyin was worried Gugu would be scared. As it turned out, she had completely underestimated the appeal of fluffy things to children.

Gugu’s eyes lit up when she saw Mao Mao. She carried him everywhere she went until bedtime and even fed him lots of tasty treats.

When Gugu saw that Mao Mao ate whatever she gave him, she liked him even more! She wouldn’t let go, even at night, insisting that Mao Mao sleep with her.

Hua Xin sighed as she looked at the stuffed toys that had been favored for only a single night. ’Perhaps I should get the little princess a live pet.’
