The Martial Unity

Chapter 2629: Stunning Result

Seconds ago, he was a Senior.

And now?

Now, he was a true Sage.

Ruiʼs expression crumbled with unadulterated shock as the Senior underwent a singular smooth process to the Sage Realm without any sort of break-ups whatsoever.

His conscious mind expanded with the Martial Mind and Soul in an indistinguishable process. Although by human classification, there were two breakthroughs happening, Rui couldnʼt help but feel like he was looking at one breakthrough.

Regardless, he simply stared at the Senior with a dumbfounded expression as the elder man finally stabilized.

”Amitabha, I have harnessed my Inner Self.” The elder manʼs opened his eyes with a serene smile.

Bodhisattva Maitreyi nodded with a knowing expression. ”This has been a long time coming, Bodhisattva Kilak.”

”How…?” A whisper escaped Rui. ”How is this possible?”

Bodhisattva Maitreyi smiled at him with an amused expression. ”I told you, did I not? Gen philosophy is twice as successful in helping one gain Enlightenment of Self. This is not strictly exclusive to Martial Masters. There have been some Seniors in the past who have gained Enlightenment of Self thanks to Gen philosophy.”

”Wait, this has happened before?” Ruiʼs eyes widened. ”One time would have extraordinary by itself!”

She smiled. ”Of course, itʼs rare, but yes, it has happened before. Only in the Gen Temple.”

Rui shifted his gaze back to the newly ascended Sage Kilak, who bowed towards Rui with deference and gratitude. ”Amitabha, this one shanʼt forget my debt to you, Dawnbringer.”

Rui didnʼt care.

One and only one thought emerged in his mind.

ʼCould I beat this guy?ʼ

Ordinarily, it would be absurd to ask that question in regard to Martial Sages. Although he has resisted and even managed to gain an advantage against Sage Himari, he had still ultimately lost the battle.

And yet, Rui realized that this particular Sage was so weak and under-equipped that there was an extremely high chance that Rui could defeat him as he was right now.

Not only did he have no experience with the Sage Realm, but he also had no experience with the Master Realm. And he hadnʼt been a particularly remarkable Senior either, so there was a good chance that he had absolutely no exposure to the Sage Realm.

”Bodhisattva Kilak will need to spend the next five years under serious training so that he is finally able to get accustomed to his radically new state,” Bodhisattva Maitreyi directed a pointed gaze at him. ”He cannot afford to get into frivolous spars when his control over his power is so low.”

Rui tutted with a hint of indignance as Bodhisattva Maitreyi swatted down his intentions even before he could try to realize them. ”On behalf of the Gen Temple, I would like to offer my heartfelt gratitude to you, Master Rui,” Bodhisattva Maitreyi remarked. ”Not only have you blessed our temple with tens of thousands of Apprentices, hundreds of Seniors, and dozens of Masters, but you have also enabled us to gain a new Bodhisattva. Rest assured, we will ensure that the Water Sect will thrive in the Gen Temple.”

Rui shook his head. ”That last part is all thanks to Gen philosophy. I donʼt have the power to break Sages through. But Iʼm not quite done yet.”

”Indeed,” Bodhisattva Maitreyi remarked. ”You have yet to impart your Hellbringer model to us.”

Which is exactly what he proceeded to do.

It was less flashy than the breakthroughs, but in his opinion, it was more important. The Gen Temple had a prior shortage in the number of Martial Masters amidst their ranks, and the breakthroughs merely ameliorated that shortage. However, it would not allow them to deal with Sage-level beasts by themselves.

That was where the Hellbringer model came in.

It wasnʼt long before he finished bestowing it to all the Martial Artists of the Upper Realms.

”Fascinating power,” she remarked. ”To think that you devised such a tremendous system of thought all by yourself. You are truly blessed in mind and in thought.”

”If you wish to make it your own, then you will need to individualize it to suit your Martial Art and paths,” Rui informed them. ”I have a domain system that is complementary to this system of thought, but each Martial Artist should focus on their strengths.”

At long last, after multiple shifts of the defensive effort had cycled, Rui had finally gotten to every Martial Artist.

And with that, his commitment to the Gen Temple was complete.

There was only a single Master to whom he had yet to bestow his Hellbringer model upon.

”She has yet to make her mind up,” Bodhisattva Maitreyi informed him. ”However, I cannot help but wonder if you have made yours.”

He shifted his gaze towards her.

”I have.”

He stared right into her eyes. ”I will travel the continent with Amare if that is what she desires.”

She smiled. ”Good, then the only thing that remains to be seen is what her decision will be.”

Her expression fell slightly. ”I wish she could have found out under better circumstances. But alas, she does not have time. She will have to process her emotions and come to a rapidly dwindling decision soon.”

He could tell that Bodhisattva Maitreyi was concerned about a woman who was no different from her granddaughter. Despite the fact that Amare was a century old, the elder Bodhisattva worried for her like she was still a young adult.

And, in some ways, she was. ”I have always kept her close in fear that her tendency to get lost and absorbed in a singular task with a one-track mind would hurt her or, worse, get her killed,” Bodhisattva Maitreyi heaved a sigh. ”Her greatest strength is also her greatest weakness. Her lack of situation and circumstantial awareness makes me feel dread whenever she is by herself. A truly troublesome granddaughter.”

And yet, she was unable to hide the expression of affection and love on her face.

She was quite different from his own grandmother, and yet she reminded him of Matriarch Silas in some ways.

”I will be catching a few hours of sleep to heal from the utility of the Martial Mind,” Rui informed her. ”After that, I will be leaving.”
