Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 868: Chapter 868: Came to Terms

When the elders were asking questions, Ye Wenyue sidled up to Yunyi: ”Cousin, I heard from the family that you also took the college entrance exam. How did it go?”

Yunyi sensed no hostility from her: ”It’s okay.”

Ye Wenyue was somewhat envious: ”I originally wanted to take it too, but coincidentally there was an opportunity for promotion, and for the sake of that, I gave up the college entrance exam. I don’t know if it’s right or wrong?”

Yunyi glanced at her, seeing she wasn’t pretending to be lofty: ”If you want to take it, you can register next year. It’s just a matter of being a year early or a year late.”

Ye Wenyue sighed lightly: ”You see, I’ve brought my partner back. We’re setting a date to marry after the New Year. Once we start a family, it might be difficult.”

At this point, Yunyi didn’t know what to say, as everyone has their own ideas.

Ye Wenyue noticed Yunyi’s silence and realized that her words might affect the mood, quickly changing the topic: ”Congratulations.”

Yunyi smiled lightly: ”Thank you, and congratulations to you too.”

Ye Wenyue looked towards Jiao Baoping, who was talking with the elders not far away: ”Then let’s both be happy. Although he’s average, he knows how to strive forward, and most importantly, he treats me well.”

She was embarrassed to say more, afraid that Yunyi might feel she was seeking sympathy.

In fact, even if she didn’t say it, Yunyi could still guess.

Yunyi suddenly thought of something: ”You got promoted in the cultural troupe?”

Ye Wenyue shook her head: ”Not yet.”

Yunyi understood: giving up the college entrance exam for that promotion opportunity was just to marry smoothly.

Yunyi actually didn’t quite agree with her decision; she had previously heard from Ye Wenhui that Ye Wenyue’s grades were decent, and with effort, she might be able to get into university.

But this was just her own opinion.

In fact, Ye Wenyue had been conflicted for a long time about whether to take the college entrance exam.

But after considering many aspects, she gave it up.

Firstly, she didn’t want to miss the opportunity, since promotion chances aren’t frequent; secondly, she genuinely liked the work in the cultural troupe.

If she were lucky enough to get a good result, even if Jiao Baoping agreed to wait for her, what about the Jiao Family?

After all, with Jiao Baoping’s job, many girls would want to be his partner; he is steady and upright, she didn’t want to miss out.

They chatted here, while the people inside occasionally glanced over.

Yunyi, with her keen senses, found the small gestures amusing.

After a while, Ye Wenyue turned to Yunyi: ”Yunyi, I’m sorry.”

Yunyi understood her meaning but hadn’t expected her to say that: ”You don’t need to feel sorry. After all, the incident back then, you were one of the victims too.”

What’s the use of holding grudges; the situation is as it is, and this girl obviously has figured things out, at least she proactively came to talk this much, which is much better than before.

As long as she doesn’t deliberately stir things up, getting along peacefully is actually quite nice.

Ye Wenyue reached out her hand: ”Cousin, please take care of me in the future.”

Yunyi smiled while extending her hand: ”Same here, let’s work hard together.”

Ye Wenyue truly figured things out these days; she had some thoughts earlier, but she also understood that having assumed the identity of Older Sister Yunyi, if she sought more, she might lose even more.

Although she’s no longer the Main Consort’s daughter, as long as the family bond remains, that’s good enough.

As for why she rushed into marriage, one reason is meeting the right person, and the other is to solve her current identity awkwardness effectively.
