Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 359: Chapter 359 Peeling the Cocoon, The Matter Becomes More and More Clear

Looking at the blood test report in his hand, he sighed deeply. Now, he was just waiting for news from his younger brother’s wife.

If that child had a mole on the inside of her thigh, a matching blood type, and a face that bore a seven-tenths resemblance to his younger sister Binglan, then she was undoubtedly his own daughter.

But what about Wen Yue?

He glanced at the pile of photos on the table in front of him when his gaze suddenly fell on a group picture of the three sisters.

An idea sparked in his mind. Right, why hadn’t he thought of it before?

He sprang to his feet and paced the room several times. The more he thought about it, the more likely it seemed.

Without bothering to tidy up the room, he dashed out.

Thinking that his sister-in-law Shi Jingfang should be arriving in the Northwest soon, he first called an acquaintance there. ”Hello, please help me find Fan Wenke, Director Fan.”

”One moment.”

From the other end of the line came a voice, ”Xiaozhang, please get Director Fan. There’s a call for him.”

”Sure, right away.”

Soon, footsteps approached. ”Hello, who is this?”

”Old Fan, it’s me, Ye Bingyu.”

”Bingyu! Ah, your sister-in-law hasn’t arrived yet. Don’t worry. You trust me, don’t you? I’ll definitely ensure she gets to you safely.”

”I’m not calling about that particular concern right now. I wanted to ask, when my sister-in-law arrives, please have her call me back immediately. I have some important things to instruct her on.”

”Certainly, that’s easily arranged. Once she arrives, I’ll have her call you from my office.”

”Thanks, brother.”

”What’s there to be formal about between us? No need for thanks.”

After exchanging a few more pleasantries, they hung up. He then immediately dialed Qiao Shaoguo, asking for a favor.

After sorting things out, he hurried back to the old family residence without stopping.

Seeing his eldest son return, Elder Master Ye asked, ”Why have you come at this hour?”

”Dad, I need to talk to you about something.”

Observing his serious expression, they entered the study, one after the other. ”Go ahead, what has happened?”

”Dad, I got Wen Yue’s blood test report today. She has the same blood type as me, and you also said her eyes resemble our family’s features.”

Elder Master Ye frowned and asked, ”What exactly are you trying to say?”

”Dad, Wen Yue and Wenjuan were born on the same day, and both at the military hospital.”

Elder Master Ye said with a grave expression, ”Are you suspecting that three families switched their babies?”

”It’s just my conjecture. For the specifics, we still have to wait for news from the Northeast and the Northwest.”

Elder Master Ye considered that there might indeed be such a possibility. After all, that child Wenjuan didn’t resemble Ye family members in the slightest, but she did bear some resemblance to Zhang Baoxiang.

If the conjecture was correct, it would make sense. After all, it’s common for a niece to resemble her paternal aunt, which was likely why no one in the family had noticed anything amiss.

Wen Yue’s eyes resembled Ye family members. Wenjuan’s appearance resembled Zhang Baoxiang. And that girl they had never met resembled his own sister Binglan. If one reasoned it out this way, then everything fit perfectly.

But if this were the case, it would mean that Zhang Baosheng and his wife, or at least Zhang Baosheng’s wife, were in on it. Otherwise, why would they have abandoned the child?

The investigation results clearly indicated it was intentional, with two aims: one was to exploit the hardships of the famine to create a disturbance, and the other was to prevent the Ye family members from seeing the child, thereby eliminating any future complications.

As matters gradually became clearer, their previously unsettled hearts could finally find some peace. They just needed to wait for the news to be verified before they could take further action.

The Qin Family’s adopted daughter, whom his son had mentioned, would undoubtedly face legal retribution. As for the Zhang couple, that would depend on the specific circumstances, but the Ye Family was determined to pursue this matter to the very end.

While the Ye Family meticulously pieced together the clues, making the situation increasingly clear, Qin Lijuan’s world was in complete disarray.

Ever since Qin Lijuan had been taken away that day, seemingly unharmed, only for a confession to be successfully extracted by force, she had been on leave from work and staying home for several days.

Firstly, her arm was fractured in multiple places. Secondly, she was frightened out of her wits and, even now, still hadn’t figured out what it was all about.

Furthermore, regarding the things she had confessed, she was terrified that the people she implicated would report her. She was now like a bird startled by the mere twang of a bow; any knock on her door sent her into a panic, fearing it was the police coming for her.

However, she didn’t dare tell her husband about these matters, as none of them were exactly honorable.
