Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 277: Chapter 277 This Really Is Complicated Enough

In this day and age, it’s common for people to get married after only a few meetings.

Although Huo Jingrui knew it was abrupt, he wanted to keep her by his side, which was why he had eagerly brought up marriage. After watching Yunyi deliberate for a moment, he said, ”My father has married three times in total.”

No sooner had he begun than Yunyi cut him off, ”What? Your dad has married three times? Which wife’s son are you?”

Huo Jingrui cleared his throat softly. ”The third one.”

Yunyi exhaled lightly. ”That really is quite complex. Go on.”

Huo Jingrui felt extremely uneasy, afraid that his family situation might make Yunyi change her mind. ”My father’s first wife was chosen for him by the family elders through a matchmaker, but luckily, they had known each other since childhood.

She gave birth to my Brother Huo Weidong and my Sister Huo Weiyu. She later passed away due to ill health.

Years later, through an introduction, he met my second mother, who was also in the military. She gave birth to my second brother Huo Qianjin and my Third Brother Huo Gaodi. During a defensive battle, my second mother sacrificed herself to cover her comrades.

After the founding of the nation, the organization introduced my father to a revolutionary partner. Due to some unexpected circumstances, my father and my mother ended up together. After they married, they had me and my Younger Sister Huo Jiayuan.”

His dad really is vigorous for his age, Yunyi thought.

However, just as this thought crossed her mind, she heard Huo Jingrui say, ”My dad just celebrated his sixtieth birthday a few days ago. He’s been urging me to get married. I was thinking, since we’ve already confirmed our relationship, getting married is naturally on the agenda. I won’t pressure you, but I’d like to hear your thoughts.”

When Yunyi heard his father was sixty this year, it meant his father had him at thirty-six. In later generations, many people only married at thirty-six. From that perspective, his father was still in his prime back then. But the thought of such a large family made her head ache. Even siblings with the same parents had conflicts, let alone those born of three different mothers.

For a moment, she didn’t know what to say.

Huo Jingrui didn’t make a sound, just kept staring at Yunyi, waiting for her to speak her mind.

After quite a while, Yunyi finally asked, ”How do you and your siblings get along?”

Huo Jingrui secretly breathed a sigh of relief. ”We get along quite well. The exception is my Third Sister-in-law, who is a bit aloof and always puts on airs, thinking she’s superior. Everyone else is fairly easy to get along with.”

Fearing that Yunyi might back out, he quickly added, ”Don’t worry. After we get married, we’ll live in the military family housing. We won’t return to the main family compound often unless necessary, so we won’t be spending too much time with them.”

Yunyi approved of him as a person. Although his family was indeed very complicated, she wasn’t too concerned. After all, she had seen all sorts of situations and was confident she could handle it.

Looking up at Huo Jingrui, she asked, ”What are your mother and your sister like?”

After all, they were the key people. If they were difficult to get along with, it would be troublesome, especially since they were his own mother and sister.

Huo Jingrui smiled. ”Don’t worry, my mom’s quite straightforward. She’ll definitely like whoever I like, and I’m sure you two will get along well.

As for my little sister, she has a cheerful personality and gets along well with everyone in the family.”

After speaking, he stood up and pulled Yunyi into his embrace. ”Rest assured, I’ll be there for you. Just be yourself; you don’t need to cater to anyone.”

Yunyi was quite satisfied with Huo Jingrui’s answers; she wasn’t one to compromise her own happiness. ”Alright,” she said. ”Your words are enough for me.”

Upon hearing her words, Huo Jingrui’s eyes instantly lit up. ”You agree?”

Yunyi looked up. ”Agree to what?”

Huo Jingrui pressed on, ”To filing the marriage report.”

Yunyi smiled. ”Let’s date for a while first. We can file the marriage report when I come of age.”

She didn’t want to give the impression that she was desperate to get married.
