Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 40: Chapter 40 Girl, You Really Can Sleep

Hearing the question, the woman stammered a bit. ”Since your second brother had something come up and isn’t returning, I went ahead and exchanged his ticket.”

The girl’s face was full of displeasure. ”You must be glad he’s not coming back so you can turn the ticket into cash, and then use it to subsidize your blood-sucking family, right?”

The woman’s face turned ugly when she heard this, but she also got angry. ”If he’s not returning, shouldn’t the ticket be put to use rather than wasted? What’s wrong with exchanging it?”

The girl looked at her, still daring to argue. ”Then why did you specifically exchange the lower bunk?”

That was naturally because the lower bunk was more expensive, the woman thought, feeling somewhat guilty. ”What’s so good about the lower bunk? It’s not safe, and people always want to borrow the seat.”

The girl was fuming, but since the lower bunk was already taken, it wasn’t appropriate to make more of a fuss.

She HMPHED at the woman and then angrily climbed up to the middle bunk above Yunyi’s head.

All six bunks were taken, and Yunyi let out a sigh of relief. At least there were no particularly troublesome people, and she could enjoy a more comfortable journey during the two days and one night on the train.

Perhaps because she had been busy since her arrival in this time, she was quite exhausted. As the train CLANKED, Yunyi quickly fell into a deep sleep.

As for exploring the space and such, to someone like her who had lived several lives and once had a golden finger, it was something she could take in stride. Besides, in a public space like this, it was better to be cautious. After all, there would be plenty of time in the future.

She slept so soundly that she even missed lunch, only waking in a daze to the scent of other people’s dinner.

The woman in the middle bunk across from her noticed she was awake. ”My dear, you can really sleep! The sky is almost dark; will you be able to sleep tonight?”

Yunyi didn’t respond, just smiled at the woman.

She got up, tidied herself a bit, then took out her enamel mug, appearing to fetch some water. In reality, she replaced it with well water that had been boiled in her space.

Having skipped lunch, she was naturally hungry.

She pulled out the carry bag from under her bunk and rummaged through it, taking out a vegetarian bun she had bought at a state-run restaurant, a soybean paste bun, and an egg made by Auntie Wei.

She had put the food she brought into her space immediately after boarding the train. It was hot, and she feared leaving it outside might spoil it. Anyway, after finishing this meal, she could look for a chance to enjoy a feast upon reaching the countryside later, so as not to give herself away.

Just as she finished eating and was about to get up and stretch a bit, she heard a shrill scream from the next compartment. ”Ah, what is this?”

”Ouch, why are you making such a fuss? You scared my son; can you afford that?”

Yunyi, curious, stretched her neck to look over.

She saw the girl in the lower bunk of the next compartment holding up her hands, staring dumbfounded at her bed, and then with a look of disbelief on her face.

At this time, a middle-aged man opposite the girl came to her defense. ”This is a public place. How can your son, who is so big, urinate directly on the bunk?”

It was the first time Yunyi had encountered someone so ill-mannered. The mother not only ignored her son’s wrongdoing but even reprimanded the passenger in the lower bunk.

The woman in the middle bunk (the boy’s mother) retorted, ”He’s still a child! Isn’t it normal for him not to be able to hold it in?”

The girl in the lower bunk exploded, ”He’s got to be over ten years old, and you call that a child? You really have some nerve!”

The girl sprang to her feet and headed outside.

The woman thought she had driven the girl away and didn’t think much of it.

But the girl quickly returned with two transit police officers behind her. ”It’s them! In a public space, enabling a child to engage in hooliganism.”

The woman became defensive upon hearing this. ”Look here, young lady, how can you be so malicious? My son is only so old; are you trying to ruin him?”
