Cultivation Struggles of a Lowly Fox

Mei was snuggled into Mai’s lap, snoozing gently.

”I have never seen her cry so much...” Mai sighed softly. ”Well, maybe when I was dying.”

”It was surprising.” Moon Aiko nodded her head.

After their messy reunion, it took a while for Mei to realise that Aiko was not joking around.

What followed afterwards was just rivers of tears and a gentle reunion.

”She is cute when she sleeps.” Moon Aiko felt like sleeping. Mei was the cutest, since she could not threaten her.

”Mei was always cute.” Mai smiled. ”There were some... messy situations, but I’m glad she doesn’t hate me.” She sighed softly.

”Right, there are some things I’m interested in asking, but I will hold them in for now.” Moon Aiko wanted to ask a couple of questions, especially about their ex-partners.

”I would appreciate that later, since we need to take care of Mei.” Mai narrowed her eyes. ”And don’t even think about escaping, I can see your eyes darting around.”

”But Mei, that is awake is scary.” Moon Aiko complained, but still sat around the small table. If she left now, she had a feeling that Mei would be livid, which she couldn’t really afford.

”Well...” Mai caressed her sister’s hair gently. ”You will have a rough time, but it should be possible.”

”Should what be possible?” Moon Aiko had a bad premonition about this.

”Let’s just hope that Mei really grew up.” Mai smiled with an ambiguous smile, making Aiko shudder in fear.

”I like my body, so don’t hurt me, okay?” Moon Aiko was hiding behind the table, but her humongous ears couldn’t be concealed.

They pretty much screamed, ’I’m here’!

”We won’t hurt you.” Mai giggled.

”Nononono, why did you add yourself to the conversation?” Moon Aiko shook her head vigorously. She didn’t like where this was going.

”Well, from what I understood, Danji was the first one to be with you.” Mai narrowed her eyes. ”Well, she only has herself to blame. Foxes that are not aggressive usually end up alone.” That was also one of the reasons why she preferred quiet Foxes.

It was definitely not because their moans were the sweetest!

”Mei, and being alone? I can’t imagine that.” Moon Aiko shook her head.

”Hm? But her energies were never balanced. Even her previous mate could only be called a play-mate and not Dao Companion, you know?” Mai giggled.

”... I have no idea what you are talking about.” Moon Aiko stopped her.

”Hm? Are you perhaps unaware how Foxes work?” Mai was confused and startled.

”Is that necessary?” Moon Aiko tilted her head.

Mai almost fainted hearing those words.

”Alright, let’s make courtship a bit more obvious.” Mai sighed. ”Depending on the type of the Fox, it might slightly deviate, but the main indicators are: Attention, Affection and Playfulness.”

”Attention is mostly when you need help with something. They are more than willing to drop their work and help you. Affection would be them bringing you stuff that you need or just entertaining you when you feel down. Playfulness would be when they are spending a lot of time with you, guiding you or just being there for you. Slightly different from the first one, but yeah.” Mai nodded her head.

”Demonic Foxes are pretty much only one type: Seduction.” Mai chuckled. ”They would do everything to seduce you.”

Moon Aiko pondered. Yuxi did spend a lot of time with her, but that was definitely not because she was interested... right?

”It seems you were already courted...” Mai licked her lips. ”So how many times?” She already knew that Mei was awake and listening, but she would help her sister out.

”When you say it like that, there are... quite a few...” Moon Aiko rubbed her head in confusion.

”You don’t have to take it too literally.” Mai giggled.

”No, wait, wouldn’t that make them in the hundreds if not thousands...?” Moon Aiko pondered with closed eyes.

Hearing those words, Mai choked on her breath, looking at Aiko in horror.

”WHAT?!” Meanwhile, Mei sprang up like she had been kicked.

”I mean, we are talking about the cuddly Demonic Foxes. My team and...” Moon Aiko recounted their attention, affection and everything.

”Ah...” Mai coughed awkwardly.

”Mai!” Mei yelped at her. ”She is mine!” She immediately wrapped her hands around Aiko as if to shield her.

Moon Aiko was struggling with her breath, but it didn’t seem like Mei would let her go.

”You won’t be able to satisfy her if she goes at it.” Mai rolled her eyes. ”We are sisters, so-”

”No way!” Mei glared at her sister. ”Don’t even try to weasel your way in!” She defended this line like her life depended on it.

Mai was ’heartbroken’ and acted as she would always do. ”But what if you are hurt again? If I’m around, I could comfo-”

”Don’t even try it.” Mei cut her short. ”I already understand this type of behaviour.”

”Tsk.” Mai clicked her tongue. ”You grew too quickly.”

”It’s been a long time.” Mei rolled her eyes.

”Right, since the type deficit was great, it’s possible.” Mai nodded her head.

”How are you doing...?” Mei spoke softly, finally letting Aiko go.

Moon Aiko gasped for breath, since she was finally free, and glared at those hateful peaks that almost suffocated her!

”As you can see, I can’t leave this disc; other than that, I’m doing fine.” Mai nodded her head. ”As you can see, I would be able to form Pearl, but the Sacred Realm doesn’t really have conditions to do it.”

”That’s what I wanted to ask you, but how did you manage to get so many tails?” Mei only managed to get so many thanks to the half-annihilation of a large Sect. Otherwise, she would still have a low number.

”We found a special Treasure that can peel the energy out of a living Soul. This allowed us to get many and many tails pretty much for free.” Mai shrugged.

”Whoa, do you still have it?” Mei’s eyes sparkled. This would help her to get 9 tails without slaughtering so many Human Cultivators!

”I gave it to Aiko.” Mai smiled innocently.

”Oh, no...” Mei slowly turned towards Aiko with eyes saying, ’You still have that Treasure, right?’.

”I used it in crafting.” Moon Aiko smiled happily, since that was her greatest Treasure!

Mei fainted on the spot, since her plan and future of easily getting the Pearl was now vanquished by a simple sentence.

”What did you make?” Mai didn’t really mind, since she already had all tails, but that didn’t mean she didn’t feel pity for her sister.

”A special Treasure~” Moon Aiko smiled, showcasing her [#### Dragon Pearl].

Mei sniffed it from the side. ”Why do I feel a Dragon’s presence from this...?” She suddenly had an even worse premonition.

”Oh, I also used many other Treasures like...” Moon Aiko started to talk about what she used.

Mai’s teacup was shaking violently, since she knew most of those precious resources, while Mei was waiting with stilled breath.

”And Reverse Scale was also used during the crafting.” Moon Aiko smiled innocently. She wanted to share with the others what kind of beautiful thing she created, but...

”Aiko~” Mei’s chilling voice made Aiko jump.

”Hiiii-” Moon Aiko tried to run away, but her cheeks were pinched by Mei.

”Mind explaining how you got ’that’~?” Mei’s scary expression got even scarier.

*Sniffle*

Moon Aiko almost started to cry.

*Slap*

Mai slapped her sister on the butt. ”What did I tell you about bullying your mates!”

Mei rubbed her behind. ”What did I do?!”

”You don’t know?!” Mai glared at her sister. ”You were always indecisive! Now someone got ahead of you, and instead of fighting them, you are trying to bully your mate! No, she can’t be considered your mate, since you are just trying to bully her!” She was enraged that Aiko used the Ghost Flag as material, but this was a much more pressing matter.

”Did you obtain it from Dragon or steal it?” Mai suddenly asked Aiko a question.

”It was given to me.” Moon Aiko sniffled.

”Did you know at the time what that gesture meant?” Mai continued asking very important questions.

”I didn’t...” Moon Aiko sniffled again.

”Why did you use it during the crafting?” Mai narrowed her eyes.

”Because this is supposed to be a precious resource, so I thought I would be able to craft something beautiful.” Moon Aiko sniffled yet again.

*slap*

Mai slapped Mei again.

”Auch, why?!” Mei cried out like she was being wronged.

”Did you ever ask these questions, or did you always try to intimidate her?!” Mai glared at her.

Mei tried to defend herself. ”Obviously I-”

”Didn’t! If you did, your partner wouldn’t look like that!” Mai scolded Mei again.

”Seriously.” Mai crossed her arms, tapping her feet. ”I will have to teach both of you. And get that pretty Ghost out too, she should straighten you out!” She was talking, and the pretty Ghosts, which were pretty much the embodiment of a graceful Immortal.

...

”Have you both calmed down?” Mai sat down on the disc, her tails threatening them with fluffy sensations.

Both Aiko and Mei nodded their heads slowly.

”Before we move on. Why did you use the Ghost Flag?” Mai now looked scarier than Mei, making Moon Aiko almost cry.

”B-because both Treasures were about Ghosts, so I thought it would strengthen the effects...” Moon Aiko sniffled again.

”I will be the judge of that!” Mai slapped the table. She always wanted to have a Ghost army since it was very beneficial for Soul Cultivators, which also counted Foxes in it.

Moon Aiko was convinced that they would be impressed if she showed the Treasure.

[#### Yueying’s Embrace (Necklace)]

First was the necklace.

”Why does it have that name?” Mei narrowed her eyes. Since she also had a partial system, she saw the name of this object.

”Because that was her scale?” Moon Aiko shifted her body backwards, since she was intimidated.

*whack*

Mai whacked Mei with a paper fan. ”Sit, don’t move, I’m the one talking!”

”Okay...” Mei rubbed her head.

...

Moon Aiko explained the effects, but Mai was not impressed.

”It can turn into another thing...” Moon Aiko was too scared of these two sisters!

”Oh?” Mai blinked her eyes. ”I have never heard of a Treasure that can change when you wish it. There are, however, some Treasures that if they feel threatened, they would shape into other forms...”

[#### Ghost Harmony Kitsune Vessel (Paper Lantern)]

[Modes: White]

Moon Aiko wanted to punish them slightly, so she changed the mode to the Paper Lantern and White Mode.

This meant that the Ghost Suppression would somewhat work on Souls too, although the distance was not too great...
