Cultivation Struggles of a Lowly Fox

Aiko stared at the poor Fox, the Fox was whimpering.

’Now I feel really bad.’ Aiko didn’t have any bad feelings towards the Fox, sure, she tried to attack her multiple times, but in Aiko’s eyes, it felt just cute.

Her attacks never really endangered her. Aiko felt like the Blood Fox was attacking because she had to, not because she wanted to.

The Blood Fox whimpered one last time and something cracked.

The Blood Fox felt free yet restrained by the pain. She remembered everything, especially her brother.

She remembered her kind brother and remembered what her brother gave her for protection.

She cracked the protective ring around her teeth

*Boom*

Aiko was startled as her mind pushed her away and the Blood Fox disappeared completely.

’What in the world...’ Aiko sniffed that place, but couldn’t find any traces of the Blood Fox and her [Hunting Mastery] also didn’t react.

Aiko scratched her ear, but soon lost interest and returned to her Den.

She ate some more food, but this time there was no chilling sensation running down her back, she was confused...

She placed one Spirit Crystal under her nest and laid down. Her nest now had a heating function and she had a much nicer sleep...

...

6th Day

Aiko woke up, completely refreshed. The heating function worked a bit too well and she overslept. Normally this wouldn’t have happened as that Mean Fox would wake her up when the time came, but...

’This isn’t all that bad...’ She thought.

She stared at her system panel and went through the changes.

The first thing was the [Cultivation Technique].

[Blood Tyrant Scripture]

[Contains breathing technique, Cultivation Technique and Core Martial Arts/Abilities]

[Blood Tyrant rules over blood and has deep ties with Demonic beings. If not handled carefully the User will lose their sense of self and descend in to a bloodthirsty being.]

[Moon Goddess Scripture]

[Contains breathing technique, Cultivation Technique and Core Martial Arts/Abilities]

[Moon Goddess ruled over the Moon, Moon cycles and night. If not handled carefully the User will turn into an emotionless observer.]

’Neither of them sounds good...’ Aiko thought, but was curious.

She opened the [Cultivation Shop] and tried to search their Scriptures.

[Moon Goddess Scripture]

[Cost: 10,000,000,000]

’What! That’s so expensive!’ Aiko was ecstatic and her tail worked like a broom dusting her Den.

[Blood Tyrant Scripture]

[Cost: 9,999,999,999]

’... now that’s just rubbing salt into his wounds.’ Aiko smirked at the number. ’It’s still good, but I don’t really like that part where one descends into madness...’

[Soul: 1,120]

[This represents the Strength of the User’s Soul, the stronger the User’s Soul the harder it is to affect it with Soul Techniques. You will be protected against Soul Manipulation and it will be more difficult to ’erase’ the User’s Soul.]

’That’s good, what is the baseline for Soul strength?’ Aiko asked, but unfortunately, nobody answered her.

[Elemental Affinity: [Shadow - 3], [Earth - 9], [Soul - ####]]

[Soul]

[Allow User to learn Soul-related Techniques and Abilities.]

’This is too simple... does it even have any benefits directly? Or I can’t know the benefits since I don’t know how big is my affinity?’ Aiko pondered on it only for a bit.

[Soul Palace]

[This Divine Ability shrouds the User’s Soul in Palace. Making it difficult for any kind of means to affect the User’s Soul. User will have a harder time descending into madness or losing User’s mind. This does not offer protection against Inner Demons! This does protect from Soul Probing, but only up to a certain point!]

[Blessing of the Ancestral Nine-Tailed Fox]

[####]

[1st Effect: You can’t be forced into obedience or slavery contract under #### Cultivation unless you decide otherwise.

2nd Effect: Affinity with Illusions increases greatly.]

[Blessing of the Ancestral Phoenix]

[####]

[1st Effect: You will burn anyone who forces you into a contract. Damage depends on the User’s strength and the opponent’s Cultivation.

2nd Effect: Affinity with Fire increases greatly.]

[Blessing of ####]

[####]

[1st Effect: ####]

’I got secondary effects, wonderful~.’ Aiko hummed but felt a bit less happy than she should have been. ’I have no affinity with Illusions or Fire...’ She frowned. ’Not to mention I can’t see the effect of the last Blessing...’

She pondered what she needed to do and thought of something.

’Is there some kind of appraisal?’ She looked through the different shops.

[Appraisal]

[Cost: Unable to Purchase]

’... shitty system.’ Aiko spat on it, but it just flew through the system window and landed on the floor in her Den. ’Well great, now I soiled my Den.’ Aiko groaned in displeasure.

[Receive a reward for reaching Level 120?]

[You have received a Skill Combination Coupon x2.]

[Receive a reward for reaching Level 140?]

[You have received a Sub-Profession Coupon.]

[Sub-Profession Coupon]

[User can choose Sub-Profession of User’s liking.]

[Receive a reward for reaching Level 150?]

[You have received a Divine Ability Gift.]

[Divine Ability Gift]

[Chooses suitable Divine Ability for the User’s needs.]

’Holy cow!’ Aiko’s eyes widened and almost popped out of her eyes sockets.

Aiko’s hands were suddenly itchy she really wanted to use that [Divine Ability Gift] right now! But at the same time, she was worried. ’Will I get another Ability Gift later?’

She was hesitant. ’I will need another Bloodline to balance or suppress my current Bloodline, that means I could possibly get a better Ability, right?’

Aiko stared at the system, slowly inspecting it. ’I also have many Stat Points, I should place a few in Luck since I don’t feel like I’m lucky enough. Maybe I could get some kind of Lucky Halo that could prevent me from dying?’ She tapped her claw on her Den. ’That’s not a bad idea, but what if I need those stats to Evolve?’ Aiko frowned. ’Too many variables.’

Then she heard a strange click.

’I’m going to cry, this is injustice against Cubs!’ Aiko protested and glanced at her system panel.

Aiko paused, she tried to fiddle with her pouch and noticed an incredible improvement in the motor functions of her paw. She was much more precise than before and was able to fiddle with the string attached to her pouch.

’I won’t become a cat with a rapier, right...?’ Aiko paused, this was a good thing to happen to her, but she was very sceptical about some effects. ’I hope they won’t affect me too much.

She was too mentally tired from the system so she went to sleep prematurely.

...

She woke up the next day and there was a large commotion outside...
