Evolution by Adding Points

After the unexpected Attribute gain from the fish liver oil, Chen Jue started looking forward to the effects of the ginseng slices.

He napped for over forty minutes, waking up feeling refreshed and clear-headed.

He took out his phone and saw several notifications that his packages had been delivered.

He went downstairs to retrieve them. In addition to the over 100 decks of playing cards he’d bought, even the 25-kilogram fake gold brick had arrived!

Carrying the pile of items upstairs, Chen Jue excitedly tore open the boxes.

He tossed the large box of playing cards aside and glanced at the fake gold brick. Its size and shape were identical to the one in the gold brick challenge videos.

Just by looking at it, it was hard to tell the thing was made of ”fake gold.”

He picked it up to feel its weight. Besides its heaviness, Chen Jue also noticed the surface of the fake gold brick was exceptionally smooth, polished to perfection.

’This was well worth the three thousand-plus yuan.’

’A brick this big could fool anyone, even if it’s not real gold.’ Chen Jue tried gripping the back of it with his right hand.

Just like with the silver brick challenge that night, he could grip the bottom edge of the trapezoidal back side with his fingers, then use the strength of his wrist and forearm to lift it.

But when he switched to the front, the trapezoidal face was so smooth it was slippery. There was simply no place to get a purchase on it.

The moment he applied any force, the five fingers of his right hand slid right off the brick’s surface.

Never mind lifting the fake gold brick, it was difficult to even budge it in the slightest!

’If I were wearing nylon gloves, wouldn’t this be like trying to catch an eel?’

Chen Jue was dumbfounded. He felt there was a massive gap between his current grip strength and that ten-million-yuan prize.

He subconsciously glanced at his Attribute panel:

——————

————————

’My Strength is still a little low!’

’Okay, time to set a small goal! I’ll get my Strength up to 1.5 or higher!’

’After that, I’ll try lifting this fake gold brick from the front without gloves.’ Chen Jue resolved to himself.

He knew he wasn’t cut out for making big money, nor did he have a mind for business like Jiang Zhe.

To achieve financial freedom, his only hope, aside from his not-yet-popular video side hustle, was to one day bring home that multi-million-yuan gold brick from the Gold Museum.

...

After fiddling with the fake gold brick a bit more, Chen Jue began his usual Saturday afternoon routine: Horse Stance, Squeezing Valley Dao, and grip strengthener exercises.

It was hard to practice properly while slacking off at his work desk. When colleagues passed by on their way to the restroom, Chen Jue had to be careful not to make a fool of himself.

He always felt a bit restricted with other people around.

But training back in his own room, he didn’t have to worry about that.

After a two-hour workout, Chen Jue was drenched in sweat.

Not only did his [Horse Stance] and [Squeezing Valley Dao] Skill Levels increase sharply, but his Strength and Free Attribute points each rose by another 0.01.

He added the Free Attribute point to [Constitution], which alleviated some of his fatigue.

After resting for a moment, he waited for his right hand to recover before squeezing the grip strengthener again.

He found that he could now set the grip strengthener to 75kg, a full 15 kg higher than when he first started using it.

’I wonder what that kid Yu Jie’s grip strength is.’

’Professional Rock Climbing athletes like him can do insane finger-strength pull-ups so easily! He could probably grip the back of this gold brick much more cleanly than I can,’ Chen Jue thought, recalling the flamboyant university student who had gotten him started.

He hadn’t been back to the club recently, so after adding Yu Jie on WeChat, they hadn’t been in touch.

’I’ll have to treat him to a meal next time I see him.’

If it weren’t for Yu Jie’s suggestion, Chen Jue would never have realized he could exercise while slacking off at work!

Talk about being a time management master, right?

...

After his afternoon workout, Chen Jue took advantage of the setting sun and went to his apartment’s rooftop to do some stretches.

He also took the opportunity to let the evening sun shine on his eyes and skin.

Sunbathing offered more than just the special red light therapy that boosted mitochondrial production in his retinas; it also promoted the body’s production of vitamin D.

Higher levels of vitamin D helped the intestines absorb calcium and phosphorus, and also promoted bone growth.

Chen Jue was currently improving his physique through intense exercise. Beyond just muscle growth, bone strength was absolutely essential.

While sunbathing, he took the opportunity to buy some calcium supplements on Taobao. Then he casually opened the back-end dashboards for his two video sites and was stunned.

His [Special Skill: Royal Flush] video, which he had only posted that morning, had somehow already racked up over 100,000 views. The number of comments and likes was also unusually high.

It had even hit Bilibili’s trending list for the day!

The comment section and the bullet comments were exploding. Netizens and jokers from all corners of the internet were adding their own two cents, contributing what little comedic genius they had.

”HIGH ENERGY WARNING AT THE END OF THE PROGRESS BAR!!!”

”OHHHH~”

”HOLY SH*T? He actually managed to make a Royal Flush (my eyes!).”

”This short video has the feel of a big-budget blockbuster (bows down).”

”Came in confused, leaving even more confused (scratching my head).”

”He threw both Darts with just one hand (thinking face). If he used both hands, could he stick four Aces on top of that? (crying face)”

”As far as Darts are concerned, I hereby declare you the GOAT!”

”Seeing those two Jokers pinned to the tree at the end, I feel like a clown myself.”

”I kneel before the master (bows down). What is this, a Max Level human?!”

”...”

Chen Jue scrolled through his dashboard stats and the comment section. He realized his video had truly gone viral.

It wasn’t a massive, mainstream hit yet, but the view count had already surpassed his expectations. Even the platform itself was boosting his traffic.

At this rate, hitting a million views in a few days wasn’t just a dream!

Moreover, the new viewers were subscribing and demanding more content, causing his ”Brother of Special Skills” follower count to increase by one or two every time he refreshed the page.

This was a pleasant surprise for Chen Jue. He felt like his video-making side hustle had finally made a major breakthrough.

’I wonder how much money all these views will bring in.’

’I’ll just wait and see what the revenue data says tomorrow!’ Chen Jue thought happily as he closed the dashboard. He decided to go out for a nice celebratory dinner that night.

He also sent the good news about the video trending to Wu Fang.

If it weren’t for Teacher Wu’s single-take camera work, his one-shot special skill video might not have gotten such great results.
